The food was great. I had a burger and it was very tasty. My daughter had the pot roast and mashed potatoes and it was incredible. I would highly recommend this gem in the Hyde Park area. Get the story about their plan for urban renewal in that area. We will be back.
It was wonderful, passing through a strange city on my way to Omaha, stopped for lunch and didn't have to be relegated to a cold salad or have to pay for a meal somewhere and say, hold the meat but still have to pay for the meat.
I had a nice big, hot, home-made black bean and rice burger. Not a smashed cardboard tasting thing that had freezer burn like other places that claim to offer a vegi-burger.
Need to make it come up first in the Google search for food. Google gave us the address of a nasty greasy place across the street with nothing edible on the menu. So glad we decided to cross the street and try the Sun Cafe.
Charming Urban Coffee Shop
Nearly every Monday through Friday I drive through St Louis by exiting at Salsbury Street and driving south to Olive. Until today, I'd always wondered about this quaint diner at the corner of Salsbury and Blair. Today, after spending over 40 minutes sitting in stock still traffic, I decided I deserved to treat myself to breakfast.
From the moment I walked in, I immediately felt at home. My days of going to cafes to write poetry and flirt with nerdy boys is behind me. Even so, there is a sense of quiet calm at Sun Cafe. The photos don't do justice to the warm wood tones throughout.
Anna works behind the counter and makes all feel welcome with her sunny smile and, Good morning. The building is dated but the charm is contemporary. Hand made repurposed coffee bag hang on the wall for sale. If you're in the city, I hope you'll make the time to visit this community-minded restaurant. It'll be with your time.
Affordable. Cozy. Vegan option. Clean bathrooms. Corn pancakes are awesome! Food is tasty. Table service. Friendly staff.
Our family dined at Sun Cafe on Saturday to celebrate our sister's birthday. Nice place, friendly staff and the food was excellent! Presentation of the food was well done and service was very good. The Mediterranean Wrap was phenomenal, very tasty and the burgers were thick and juicy – cooked to order. And the desserts...were pretty amazing too - a must try is the Morning Glory Muffin - it was OMG! I would definitely recommend the Sun Cafe and will visit again.
Today was my first experience at SunCafe and it was really nice. The atmosphere was amazing the service was great too. I really enjoyed the food and will most likely make this my new spot to eat and lounge. Glad to be able to enjoy good food in my own neighborhood without the far drive!
Amazing food at amazing prices. I don't really care for their coffee but I've never had a meal that wasn't amazing. The staff is courteous and friendly and will chat for a bit, if that's your thing.
This is a beautiful café with handmade furniture and fantastic food and deserts. After talking to the owner and some employees you quickly realize that your helping a small business that is giving NEARLY EVERYTHING back into the community. I love what they stand for and what they are doing in this community.
Amazing nonprofit. Great cause. Amazing food and well made products. The portions are huge. The food fresh and by eating there you are helping the community. Live music some days. Friendly staff.
Great customer service, mission and delicious food!!! Prices are great! It was 2 of us and we ordered our dine in meal plus a meal to go each and the tab was only $40.
