The BEAST Side goes to the City and brings homed a winner!
If you’ve never been to Beast, you’re doing yourself a disservice!
This is a great place! We got incredible service from the young man named Elijah at the front. I mean truly personable and kind and made us feel welcome with solid suggestions. The food was perfect. I got the fatty brisket which was seasoned incredibly well, Mac and cheese which was very creamy, Brussels also made to perfection. My wife got the rib tips, fries and coleslaw, all delicious. Not a bad first St. Louis bbq experience. It’ll be hard to beat!!
Great BBQ with something on the menu for everyone. They just added table service which is a very nice touch. My pulled pork sandwich was perfect and was accompanied with housemade pickles and pickled onions which added some nice crunch. The french fries were perfectly cooked and nicely seasoned. They also came with a homemade "fry" dipping sauce - soooo tasty. The place is spacious and they played classic rock & roll. The butcher shop is very impressive but my favorite spot was The Skullery where chef Sandusky teaches cooking classes and hosts events - see pictures below.
The service is always so fast and friendly, and the food is literally amazing! We sat outside and the staff came and brought out a container of napkins and sauce for us. They offered to get us silverware as well. They checked on us (and others) outside as well, which was great!
I got the dry rubbed wings (WOW, amazing flavor; crispy skin but tender and moist inside), my husband got the rib tips, and my son got the ribs (the ribs just FELL off the bone). We all loved our food! We also got a side of candied bacon and Cole slaw. The bacon was delicious and the Cole claw was not sweet, which was SO yummy.
Will definitely be returning!
One of my favorites, but this meal took the food to new heights. A fried ribs special was five-star delicious, reminded me of Korean barbecue.
Had smoked cauliflower for the first time instead of Brussels Sprouts with pork belly, and it was fantastic.
Jumbo Smoked Wings were huge!
Every bite was good from start to finish and enough leftovers for the next day’s meals!
It's been a good while since I have had bbq I would give 5 stars to. Beast meets that mark in every category. The ribs and pork steak were incredibly well done with the perfect balance of smoke and flavor. What surprised me the most was how good the potato salad and smoked cauliflower were. All of this said the place was also really clean and well run. I'll be back many times of that I'm sure.

We visited this place because we really wanted to try the snoots. Wanted to get the real St. Louis experience, so to speak. Overall, we enjoyed this place. The food is brought very quickly, and it is pretty good. It is true that St. Louisians eat the most barbecue sauce, though. It is everywhere in very large quantities.
The building itself is vast. Really open concept takes a bit to settle into the metal loft style feeling. Food is on a simple menu. Service was great. Food even better. Long wait time for food approximately 30 mins.
We did the Sunday brunch on January 1! It was sooooooo gooooood. Right down to the blackeyed peas for the New Year Good Luck. The bbq is incredibly tender and slow cooked for hours. We come here often.
Believe the hype! Please try the ribs and pork steak and you’ll instantly understand why Beast is on so many “best BBQ in America” lists. Tender, fall off the bone meat. I also tried Salt+Smoke and Sugarfire (both of which were pretty good) but this is in a league of its own. I almost skipped it because it’s a little outside downtown St. Louis but it’s well worth the trip!
Delicious! We ordered the 30oz pork steak, fries, brussel sprouts w/pork belly, smoked cauliflower, 1lb of smoked wings, and coleslaw. About $60 after taxes and beverages which is pretty reasonable for smoked BBQ. It was so much food. We took leftovers home. So we had lunch and some dinner for later.
Pork Steak
Well seasoned, very tasty and TENDER! Wow! Extremely tender, cut with a fork tender.
🍗Smoked Wings🍗
Delicious and a large portion. Definitely shareable.
🥦Smoked Cauliflower and Brussels
Very good. Cooked perfectly not too hard or too soft. Just right. Pork belly pieces delicious blend of meat and fat.

Okay, their "fries sauce" was my ultimate favorite. Mayo based but pleasant on the tongue with a smoke flavor. But they have many causes to choose from. Try them to see which is your favorite.
Everything we had today was hands down delicious.

Everyone was very kind, courteous and answered my many questions. Great service. 🙂
🏠Establishment
Clean and plenty of parking at 2:30pm on a Weds.
We got the sample plates that included chicken, brisket, kielbasa sausage, and rib tips. The meat was good. I liked the sauce the best. The baked beans were my favorite side.
Great BBQ conveniently located in the Grove. We got the pork steak, the triple pig (snout, ribs, and sausage on a bed of potatoes), the candied bacon, and the smoked cauliflower. It was all really, really delicious. The pork steak was fork tender and almost had the texture of a slow-cooked rib. Each component of the triple pig was super savory and tasty. The candied bacon was thick-cut and very good. And we enjoyed the smoked cauliflower as well.
One of my favorite restaurants in town and definitely my favorite BBQ restaurant.
The staff is always super friendly and helpful. The staff doesn't seem to turnover like at other places. It's nice to see familiar faces.
The meat is a cut above and from local farms. The sides are all homemade with a lot of thought and love put into them.
If you want to get a feel for everything this place offers, I highly recommend checking out the Sunday brunch.
Pretty damn good BBQ! The snoot wasn't for me, but everything else we touched (Pit beans, smoked Cauliflower, Pulled Pork, Ribs, Brisket) all some of the best I've tasted in the Saint Louis area.
Great job guys!
good local BBQ place with butcher. did a takeout order ordering ahead of time. the pork steak was very tender and flavored well. nachos were pretty large and had a mix of pulled pork, jalapeños, tomatoes and Brussel sprouts. rib tips were soft and went well with the soft white bread. the smoked cauliflower side was good, but on the smaller side for the price. the meat I learned is locally sourced while I was waiting for them to finish preparing the food.
the butcher shop side of things have a mix of dry aged meats and also mix of sausages and fresh selections. overall pretty easy to get to with parking
nice outdoor seating is available
Hello there, I was craving some delicious BBQ, and my colleague told me about Beast BBQ, so we took their word for it and tried it out. We were so glad we did as BEAST Butcher & Block has delicious and healthy food. It was a pleasure to receive excellent service. Very pleasant and friendly and it was my first time there. There was a pleasant ambiance, which made it a comfortable place to enjoy tasty food. Yes, I would recommend it repeatedly. The food was excellent as well as the service. That's just too good to pass up -
The best BBQ I had so far while on a trip between Kansas City and St Louis. The whole experience was great-nice patio, cheerful music, tasty food.
It was my first pork steak I’ve ever had and it was was very memorable.
Portions are very generous, the preparation was perfect, bbq was flavorful and moist.
Place is very clean an has lots of seating.
The butcher was knowledgeable and informative, many interesting varieties of house cured meats.

This was the first meal we ate in St. Louis and one of the most memorable. The staff was very helpful and welcoming and provided excellent suggestions.
I recommend the smoked cauliflower if you need something to balance out the meat! It was surprisingly crispy.
Every single bite here was absolutely delicious! Ribs were so insanely tender as was the brisket. The rib on the turkey is outstanding. Best bbq beans l've ever had and love the option for some different sides like cauliflower and gumbo. The cauliflower had the best seasoning on it. Service was great also!! Highly recommended
