We had an absolutely delightful experience dining at Nixta. It was quiet, cozy and very welcoming. The appetizers were delicious. The tacos were also very tasty so don’t fill up on chips. Staff was friendly and attentive. We will be back!!

We had an amazing experience at Nixta. Our waitress (Molly) was outstanding and everything she recommended was delicious. Unique and tasty choices (and for those staying otherwise, we had plenty of chips for our appetizers and were offered refills) We loved everything we ordered from drinks to desserts. We highly recommend it!

Quiet Saturday night one table available for less than 1 hour. We did it!! Ordering three small plates and two deserts. Super food, enjoyable.

Nixta, named after Nixtamalization (traditional Mexico and Central America method to process maize) is another of Bengelina hospitality group star modern Mexican restaurant. The bright wall colors, decor and seating space in patio as well as inside will feel like you are transported to a Mexican beach cantina. Friendly staff, great drinks, small menu of starters, sides and entrees and fast service adds to the value of this place. Reservation through Tock is recommended. We had Ben as our server who was great with recommendations for food and desert! The Escolar ceviche and vinaigrette of Antojito perfectly complements the warm Nachos. Crispy octopus was artistically served and Tamale as well as Tacos were great as well. Portion size is on smaller side so so add a side of green or red rice etc. Overall a great experience and unlike any regular Mexican place in the city.

Ah, Nixta. A place that defies conventional expectations, Nixta in Tower Grove, St. Louis, is a culinary masterpiece hidden in plain sight. The unassuming exterior might not catch your eye, but step inside and you'll find a quaint, colorful, and beautifully adorned space that promises a memorable experience.
The decor is charming in its simplicity, yet immensely pleasing to the eye. It's not your typical fine-dining establishment, but that's where its charm lies. The atmosphere is cozy and inviting, allowing you to focus on the real star of the show - the food.
And what a gastronomic fiesta it is! Every dish is a revelation of flavors and textures, from the Guacamole and Escabeche, a vibrant medley of pickled vegetables, to the main plates that are nothing short of artworks. The Roasted Cauliflower, a rustic delight paired with Mexican squash and shishito pepper, redefines what vegetarian cuisine can be.
Don't miss the Crab Empanada, where the richness of crab meets the crunch of a perfectly baked pastry. The Japanese Sweet Potato, while not on the online menu, is an unexpected yet delicious twist. Then there's the Chicken Tinga, a traditional dish bursting with flavor, and the Crispy Octopus, which is bathed in salsa macha and served with a refreshing broccolini salad and frijoles gigantes.
Nixta presents Mexican cuisine as it should be - vibrant, fresh, and packed with flavor. It's not about oversized portions drowned in oil, but rather a thoughtful and beautifully curated family-style dining experience where each dish has its own identity and story. This isn't your regular Tex-Mex joint; this is a deep dive into authentic Mexican culinary arts.
Everything about Nixta exudes passion and meticulous attention to detail, from the presentation of the dishes to the quality of the ingredients. If there's one place that serves authentic Mexican cuisine in St. Louis, it is undoubtedly here.
Nixta, you've won our hearts (and stomachs). If there were a way to award six stars, we would not hesitate. Until then, a perfect five will have to do. Thank you for a truly unforgettable dining experience.

Went on one of the busiest nights for them no doubt, Cinco de Mayo. We got there in the 9 o’clock hour and were told by the hostess, Natalie, we could sit at the bar if we wanted to be seated immediately luckily.
Alex, the bartender gave us some great recommendations of mezcal cocktails, which were delicious. My drink was a special that night with green tea in it. Had the chips & killer salsa-so good, pork tacos, cilantro rice, & street corn (in bowl and almost soupy). Everything was delicious! Wrapped it up with three churros & the horchata ice cream.
They had a live, authentic mariachi band with horns & accordion. Alex although busy, was very attentive. Glad we got to have a great Cinco de Mayo experience at this local gem.

Unhidden neighborhood gem in the heart of Shaw. Simple, but elegant. This is Mexican food at its finest. If I had been here another week, I would have eaten here 3 or 4 times. Make sure to start with guacamole. Yes, you can make it at home and yes, it is worth it. One must get the picante margarita with tequila infused with 7 peppers and the tajin rim. The smoked pork enchiladas with "Christmas" moles are perfection every bite and the octopus tender. If was cow I still might not be satisfied because I wouldn't have enough stomachs.

This highly rated restaurant did not disappoint. First ambiance was very hip and chill. The servers were both knowledgeable and attentive. The pace of service was fantastic. Amazing drink selection. Margaritas were the best in town. As an extra treat they had a nice selection of Sotol. We had the small plates. Tacos, Tamalpais, enchiladas. All amazing but the vegetarian enchiladas were extra special.
For dessert we had the Charros. Great experience. I also enjoyed the fact the patio is dog friendly. My minature poodle also enjoyed the corn chips

Everything was super yummy. I suggest ordering all the dips if you’re dining with a group, it’s more than enough for everyone to share. That said, the guacamole was fantastic, and a very generous portion. The steak fajita and the crab empanada were great. I also had the ceviche but it wasn’t my favorite, but my friends enjoyed it a lot. Will definitely be back in the future!
