If you ever have the opportunity to try Gus's Fried Chicken.... DO IT! We first tried it in Memphis after a friend's suggestion, and it was SO delicious. The fried chicken has a slight kick to it, but it's not overwhelming. We were thrilled to find out there was one in St. Louis, and went last night. It was as yummy as ever, and our server Armani was attentive, helpful, and delightful!

Went here with my wife on a whim after seeing a friend’s post. All in all a great experience and glad we drove over from Belleville. Food did take a bit to come out. BUT, they were busy and I did not mind waiting on the food. All the food was tasty. I especially like the chicken fingers. Good flavor and NOT greasy at all. Plenty of families dining while we were there. We will definitely come back if in the area.
I had heard good things and always wanted to try their fried chicken, I must say I was impressed. Very good food, nice atmosphere and excellent service!. Good prices for the quality, easy access and parking Definitely a must go! I recommend 100%
Gus’s has the BEST fried chicken! We had at the original location a month ago. The chicken is hot, juicy, full of flavor, and just the perfect amount of spice. I love crispy chicken and this does not disappoint. It’s very crispy but not too thick which is perfect. We like to split the 3 piece white with 2 breasts and a wing. The coke slaw is creamy and crispy with a great flavor. The potato salad was also slightly creamy and I believe mayo based, which also is my favorite style. Both of them offer a little cool to the spice of the chicken. The baked beans are basic, but that’s not a bad thing. Gus’s takes a basic baked bean dish and does it right. After eating a lot of fried chicken in my life, I have found the promise land with Gus’s. My wife and I are going to be long time regular customers. I will also say that I didn’t see any difference between the St Louis and original Memphis location. If you like fried chicken, and you like a spice level that’s less than your basic hot sauce, you’ll love this place. I like that the chicken wasn’t overly spicy so you can enjoy it regular or spice it up more yourself. Thank you Gus’s for great food and fantastic service.
This is my all time favorite fried chicken. Just the right amount of spice, and the sides are great. My only complaint is every time I order for pickup though DoorDash, they seem to not be able to find my order right away, and are sometimes difficult about giving me my food unless I show them something on my phone. Seriously, how's somebody going to come in and ask for some random stranger's name for food they didn't order. How would they know the name? At any rate, the chicken is so darned good that I'm willing to deal with the inconvenience just to have the best fried chicken around.
Chicken is really good, but if you get strips, definitely order sauce as well. Seasoned fries should be renamed "unseasoned fries." Good location in Maplewood with ample parking.
First time here, dinner was amazing, in my opinion the potato salad has little to no taste but the chicken covers it up. The chicken is just outstanding and the Mac and cheese was great! Peter was our server and he made our first time a delight. Will come again!
Sam was our waiter and He's a money young man. Very attentive made sure we were taken care of. Great service. Food was delicious! Everything fresh and hot right out the fryer. The baked beans were flavorful. The chicken was juicy and seasoned to perfection! Nice and crisp. Love the old music too. Large portions. Spoke with the New general manager Karon, very friendly and helpful. This is definitely a good spot to go to.
Very good chicken, with a crunchy texture. Seasoned well and not spicy at all. Moist inside and not dry at all. Again, VERY DELICIOUS!
For as long as I can remember I've told people that if I could only ever eat the same thing for the rest of my life it'd be chicken wings and a salad. It's a meal that has all you need. Protein. Fat. Carbs. Vegetables. Secretly, the salad wasn't what I wanted. It was the fried chicken.
Now, close your eyes. Imagine you're eating the only meal you're ever going to eat again. Very lightly breaded - not doughy and not hiding the texture of the skin - which is also crispy. The meat is juicy, tender, and spiced all the way to the bone. It's obviously been expertly brined. The meat slides directly off the bone 🦴.
This is Gus' chicken. It is perfect and is the chicken I've been fantasizing about my whole life. Eat it. Love it.
