Review Chili Mac's Diner - Saint Louis

Loved this place. The food is inexpensive, good and served quickly. I ordered the hot tamale with chili and eggs on top. Coming from AZ it wasn’t the worlds best Tamale but it was still really good and I loved that it was covered in a yummy chili. The homes fries were also delicious. The staff were friendly and made some great recommendations. If you’re in St. Louis this is a must if you like old school diners.

I love me some hole in the wall diners! It was a cute atmosphere and reminded me of home. The food isn’t anything fancy, but it hit the spot! I had a grilled cheese and fries - just as expected. It was plain white bread, Kraft singles, and frozen shoestrings. I loved every second of it! For two people, the total came out to $22 bucks!

This place is a hidden gem. Fantastic little diner and the breakfast is really good and at a great price! These ladies are killing it and I recommend stopping in for some good home cooked food!

Old school diner. Prices are crazy fair. The team of ladies that run this place are great!! If you are in the area don’t miss out on a great traditional breakfast spot!

Great little diner. Very affordable. The food was smaller portion, but it is ridiculously inexpensive. If you have a huge appetite, order two plates. 🤷🏻‍♂️😂

What a great little jewel in downtown Saint Louis. I skipped out on the boring mass food at the hotel convention and found Chili Mac Diner. Not only was lunch including a tip only $10, but it is nostalgic, and the service was super fast and friendly. I had the Chili Mac and it was delicious. The small size was plenty for lunch.

This is a perfect little greasy spoon diner. Had breakfast here and really enjoyed the biscuits and gravy. The staff was beautifully friendly and welcoming. The prices are also unbelievably cheap. This is a downtown St. Louis gem.

The friendliest restaurant staff I’ve ever experienced! They all make you feel so welcomed. Can’t beat the price for what you’re getting either. This diner is perfect slice of Americana!

Small old school Mom and Pop style breakfast diner. Got scrambled eggs and sausage patties which were delicious but the biscuits and gravy were quite bland. The food was good and the service was welcoming and friendly. The bill came out to $39 for two which was a great deal. I highly recommend.

Phenomenal food, pricing, and service. I ordered the French toast and it’s some of the best I’ve had. It’s an old school diner so expect as such, the servers were a joy to interact with! 10/10 would recommend, Chili Mac’s is a must stop if you’re in the St Louis area

Not sure how they do it steak and eggs for just $13 and the steak tasted really good, made fresh right in front of the bar counter

Fun retro spot equipped with a suly waitress ( very fun) the menu offered it for free. Breakfast of eggs and sausage and he got eggs with sauce ( would definitely recommend that). Fast service. Hot sauce on each table

This southern vibed diner was amazing! So delicious and the food was good! Really good prices for some breakfast in the downtown area.

Food was really good and homemade. Service was excellent. It’s such a dive for downtown St Louis but well worth it. Can’t beat the price.

Get the Slinger! If you are looking for great affordable unique dining in St. Louis this is your place. It's a diner atmosphere and amazing Coney Island chili. You can get bowls or top a burger, fries, eggs or hot dog. Great fast service and delicious. Reminds me of The Coney in Johnstown, Pa.

Delicious food and friendly staff. They accommodated my request for a ridiculous amount of eggs and I had one of the best breakfasts of my life here. Definitely stop by if you’re in STL!

Rating: 4.5 Stars Update 4/22/2021: Today I was off from work and walking back from Dobbs Tire & Auto Centers (review forthcoming). I walked by Chili Mac's Diner, and I knew that I had to go again. Sadly, their hours do not allow me to go during the week because of my work schedule. I ordered the full stack of Hot Cakes again, and they were phenomenal for the second time! They are so flavorful for the price. At this visit, they used freshly prepared batter, and the Hot Cakes were thick and fluffy! This is a great and affordable breakfast spot, and I love the diner vibe. The waitresses are both very nice. Give this place a shot if you are in or around Downtown St. Louis on a weekday. I have lived in Downtown St. Louis for over two years, and I have walked or run by Chili Mac's Diner hundreds of times. Since I work during the week, I have not gotten a chance to give it a try. This morning on a walk before work, I decided to make an impromptu stop since I saw the menu on the window features Hot Cakes. As y'all know, I am all about pancakes. The waitress was very friendly, and I was seated promptly. I immediately ordered the full stack (3) of Hot Cakes. The Hot Cakes came out quickly, which was fantastic. Why? Because these Hot Cakes were excellent. They were light and fluffy and had great flavor. For only $4.50, the portion size was quite generous, and this meal was a total bargain. The syrup was also good, and it complemented the Hot Cakes well. The diner vibe of Chili Mac's was obvious, and I hope to come back in the future to give these another try. I am really glad that I checked it out! My advice: Check it out!

This little diner is fantastic. We really wanted a basic simple breakfast and that's what we all got. I ordered steak and eggs. It came with fried potatoes, 2 eggs which I ordered over easy. And they were over easy. 😋 and a side of toast. And yes their coffee is really kicking as well. The ladies who run the place are really sweet. People this is a morning place to eat. It is worth the stop. A + food and A+ service.

We had the pleasure of eating there yesterday morning. We loved it!! The food, service and atmosphere are wonderful. And better yet the three ladies working had not only been there for 30 years plus but, they are sisters. This place runs like a well oiled machine. Thank you, for a great experience.

My wife and I arrived to St Louis from Los Angeles for a conference. She was eager to try this place because it looked like a small, local diner. I have to say, I didn't like it too much because the place is small and it felt too congested. However, my wife loved it. She said it felt like a "hometown diner, nothing like the diners in LA." We both liked that the service is friendly, fast, and cheap. I would definitely come back to please my wife. Thanks !

Awesome old fashioned diner food, patty melt on regular white bread, chili smothered nacho chips and cheese, chili dog and the prices are great !!!

A must go and see diner. We had a great breakfast and one of the best breakfast steaks that I've ever had. The pricing was more than reasonable. We will return!!!

Great but not for everyone. Some will be put off by the old look of the place because it is literally just what the younger crowd tries to be. It's old and worn. But for those of us that remember when Formica and chrome were new things, it's great. Like a great step back in time.

My kids and I walked past and into this classic diner 5 years ago..and must stop each and every time we're in St Louis! Breakfast is our favorite, but *everything is delicious! The staff treats you like family too!

The food is awesome, and at a great price. The people are more than friendly. I walk in a few months after I stopped working downtown and they still remember me , they treat you like family. .

My husband and I founded it on a early morning walk when. We visited St. Louis! The food was amazing and staff was so friendly. And the price was really cheap give the quality of food. We went back the next morning before we left just to try the lunch or dinner food.

My husband, son, and I have been wanting to try Chili Macs Diner for a while now and finally got our chance today. The owner and employees don't miss a beat. We could tell there were quite a few regulars and their orders were being told to the cooks as they were walking in the door. I wanted to try what people really go for and the waitress recommended the slider. It was all put together to my liking. My son said his burger was awesome and my husband said we will definitely be back. The decor takes you back a few years and has a real comfortable feel. Our waitress was fast and our drinks never went below 3/4 full. Stop by this little gem when you are downtown.

I love chili Macs diner. The chili is the best ever. Three of my aunt's work there and they are excellent at what they do. Great service, friendly environment, great prices.

Great food, fast service. Same as the old O. T. Hodges Chili parlor, which I really enjoyed. Glad I found it on my visit back to St. Louis.

Love the old fashioned diner. We stopped in for breakfast and everything was good. I think the staff and atmosphere made it excellent. The woman who did the cooking amazed me. She took all those orders and still looked flawless while doing so. Will be back next time we are in town. We are from Cleveland. ��

Down home food in the middle of modern downtown. Easy to get to & fast service. Food is very good... Not a fan of the homemade potato's but I'm a Texas boy so maybe I'm use to them a certain way.... Staff is sweet, kind, loving & make me miss my grandma... Thank you ladies from the bottom of my heart.... Dallas, Texas

Close your eyes and go way back to the 50’s. Yesteryear! Grandma’s old formica table and chairs. Good 🥘 food! And good people!
