You can find Carmine's Steakhouse in downtown St Louis at 20 S 4th St, St Louis, MO 63102, this is about a block away from the famous Gateway Arch and convenient to the Old Courthouse and Busch Stadium, as well as the junction of I64 and I44. Carmine's is an old-school steakhouse featuring aged cuts of beef and an ambiance that would work well in New York or Chicago. There's an expansive bar, plenty of seating and also a patio for those wanting to people watch during lunch.

Beautiful hotel lobby dining room incl an enormous wall tapestry. Nice bar scene & a big wine list. Excellent meat quality & preparation, but you do get a salad (top notch house version w/ a creamy dressing) & choice of side, to incl several potato options (try the cream cheese & dill). Friendly & quick service. Decadent, creamy desserts. Highly recommended.

Food critic with high standards. Love it. Arguably some of the best steaks in all of St. Louis. Cooked to order in 1,600 degree ovens, always prime, tender and juicy. I've eaten there several times and have never been disappointed. If you're a stuck up snob who doesn't know the real qualities of an excellent meal (like the last reviewer) you might just compensate for your inadequacies by snubbing this place. But if you enjoy fine dining, great food, and an intimate atmosphere in the heart of the city, you'll love Carmine's.

Fantastic service and food. Everything cooked to perfection. Scallops were unmatched! The naked bicycle race added great entertainment!

Great but expensive. The medium rare 10oz filet was perfect. The twice-baked potato was delicious. Servers went above and beyond. Not "Ruth's Chris" expensive, but close. $106 for two including $20 tip.

HIGH END DINNING. My date and I came across Carmines as we were headed for BBQ. Steak and sea food being my preference we decided to revise our plan. Obivously under dressed we entered anyway. Non the less they greeted us as if we were dressed for the occasion, seated us with a smile. We started with a pair of apple martinis that were spot on. We ordered porterhouse and filet mignon both with lobster tails. All prepaired to our direction. We enjoyed the atmosphere as a fun loving affectionate couple. The server was attentive and gave us breathing room. She thanked us for coming in as did the host. We had a 177 dollar bill and couldnt of been more pleased that we had changed our minds about BBQ.

Surprisingly the best. Steak is like coffee.

When you see a Starbucks, you know what you're getting - it's a good product that you can depend on to be a certain way. If you try a local place, it could go one of two ways - you're generally either very happy that you went off the grid of known chains or you are left with a cup of ash in poorly frothed milk thinking "help me!"

Carmine's is the former. I was in St. Louis yet again with a choice of where to eat - when in the mood for steak, I've frequently gone to Ruth's Chris - good for a dependably correctly-cooked steak, despite the fact that the butter that it oozes obliterates the steak's own inherent marbling, concealing the fact that it isn't exactly wagu beef. I was in a strange mood and went for a random steakhouse - Carmine's. I was heavily rewarded.

First off, the value is astounding. For less than a Ruth's Chris steak, you get a BIGGER steak with a BIG salad or soup and a BIG side dish that you can't finish. A $33 10-ounce filet is a great deal only if it's cooked exactly the way you like it - and here, they don't mess around. Rare is RARE in the European style, so if you don't want it cold in the middle, order medium rare. I ordered medium, my companion ordered rare, and we were both delightfully happy with the way it was cooked - these things must be cooked on the surface of the sun, as they were perfectly red inside and seared dark nearly to the crisp on the outside. I ordered the peppered tenderloin - not for the faint of heart, but as a huge pepper lover, I loved the VERY BOLD flavor, especially with a kick of worcestershire on the side. The steaks were soft to cut into and fell apart perfectly.

The soup and salad were NOT throwaways, as they typically are. I ordered Caesar salad, and was pleasantly surprised to note the lack of overly-sardininess and excessive use of cheesiness that some places go for - it was lemony and crisp. My husband ordered soup with the intention of setting it aside to decorate the table and ended up devouring the whole thing - it was hearty and well salted and delightful.

The entrees all come with sides - also not throwaways. The russet mashed potatoes tasted more like sweet potatoes - they were slightly sugared, creamy, with chunks of gently shredded peel in them. They were buttery, salted, and didn't need a thing - delicious! The risotto was my side choice - it was firm (correct!) while still sticky enough to hold together and resembled mac-and-cheese in a wholly good way.

Dessert was also not a throwaway - they are proud of their desserts for a good reason. Delicious, not to be missed!

Finally, the alcohol tab. I was shocked (shocked!) to discover that the beers were NOT $8 - they were $4 or less. I asked for Stella, and while they didn't stock it, they recommended a local variety to me that I've never tried. Delicious, perfect for a Stella lover... quite a fun find!

The ambiance lends itself to a suit or jeans and a polo. It's classic steakhouse without the stick up its @#*$.

I will eat here every time we get to St. Louis.

SImply amazing. Went to dinner at Carmine's tonight with three friends. Let me tell you the service was outstanding. The waitress (alycia) had personality for a mile. She treated us very well. Ordered a NY Strip with a side of risotto. The steak was excellent. But the risotto was the BEST I have ever had. Creamy, buttery, with a bit of mushroom, and perfect seasoning. Everyone else enjoyed their food equally as much. I would definately return here, even though it is a bit pricy.

Great price quantity value. $35 for a ribeye salad and creamed spinach. Solid but it's not morons. An affordable close second. I would go back.

$35 steak is a deal here is why. What a great place! Service was outstanding as was the food. This is a very affordable steak house. The entrees all include salad and vegetable plus the 21 day aged meat. So $35 for a steak and a salad and veggie is a great price. We started of with the toasted ravioli. The Lombardo's really have the best toasted ravs in the city. The sauce was as good as the ravs. I had the bone in rib eye, the wife had the fillet, and the famous Chip K had the NY Strip. All steaks cooked as ordered and came out fast. My side order was green beans. Sounds boring and I really expected nothing special. Wrong. The beans were cooked with some garlic. I know this is going to sound dumb but I think they were the best green beans I have ever had.

The food came out fast but we had a 5:30 reservation so I assume we were among the first for the kitchen. We were in and out in an hour. Fast for fine dinning. As we were leaving the place was filling up fast. In summary this is a great value and great food.

Excellent steak and appetizer here at Carmine's. The salad was so good that I forgot to take a pic of it before I devoured it. I had the andoulle and shrimp appetizer and then a house salad with balsamic dressing(very good). Main course was the 16 ounce New York strip with garlic mashed potatoes. For desert(I ate every bite) I had the chocolate marble cake. Wow! Charlie was our waiter and he did an awesome job taking care of things for us and explaining all the specials in full detail. The restaurant was extremely clean and very comfortable and the music was a great addition to the ambiance. It started getting a bit busy around the time we left but all in all I have no complaints.

Carmine's Steakhouse exceeded all expectations! The dark cherry old fashioned whiskey suggested by our exceptional waiter, Charlie, was an absolute delight, taking the dining experience to new heights. The aged porterhouse was a delectable masterpiece, perfectly prepared. Charlie's attentive service and impressive knowledge enhanced our evening, making it an unforgettable culinary journey. An outstanding combination of ambiance, flavors, and service—truly an exceptional dining destination.

Nice fancy restaurant. No dress code and able to eat in casual clothes. This was great because we were not planning on eating here and we’re not dressed for a fancy restaurant. Our waiter Michael was amazing. He was sweet and even made some of us left during our stay. You could tell that he was working hard as the section was very busy, but he was on top of it, and make sure that our glasses were full and all of our needs are met. There was also another gentleman who kept coming by. I did not get his name. He kept clearing the glasses that were empty after we finished our drinks. That’s definitely something that I appreciate as I hate having clutter in the food table. We got dinner, appetizers and dessert. Everything we tried was pretty good. There was four of us in the party. Only food recommendation that we thought could be a little bit better was the steaks did not taste like they had very much seasoning on them. They were cooked, amazingly, and tender, but tasted a little bland. They had a garlic and butter dressing on top. We’re definitely recommend if you’re looking for a nice steak restaurant but don’t want to get dressed up to fancy. This place is a little bit on the pricey end, but it’s not the worst pricing that I’ve seen.

Came here for a birthday dinner at 5pm. Restaurant was pretty empty and quiet. I ordered the blood orange old fashioned, surf/turf special (lobster and steak) with risotto and Gorgonzola potato au gratin (special of the day). They provide complimentary bread and butter and a free dessert for birthday. Pros: -the staff are absolutely phenomenal here! SO attentive, great with recommendations, and very friendly-everything you’d expect from a high quality dining experience. -the steak/lobster (surf and turf) was AMAZING. Very tasty! -the risotto! Great flavor, cooked perfectly, and paired well with the steak and lobster. Would absolutely order anytime I visit Cons: -the old fashioned was good although I couldn’t taste any blood orange flavoring to it which was disappointing. I would order a regular instead. -the potato of the day was disappointing to me. The potatoes were perfectly cooked but the dish was lacking seasoning and the Gorgonzola flavor, I ended up sending it back For those who are $ conscious coming here, consider asking the price of specials offered. I was a little surprised at my total because compared to Ruth Chris & other local steakhouses my meal was quite expensive (my drink was $15). Overall great experience, would come again!

Vesta Hubbard ensured that my birthday dinner and experience at Carmine’s Steakhouse was nothing short of amazing. The service was exceptional the food came out to my table promptly it was hot and delectable. Vesta and my waiter Charles checked in with me frequently to see if I needed anything and to make sure I was enjoying my food. I find myself thinking about that swordfish and the frog legs I had while I was there and I will absolutely be back!

Our server was super awesome, except he messed my order up. It's whatever it was loud in there. The parking sucks if you have a tall vehicle. You have to use the valet, which always makes me nervous, lol. But all in all we had a great time!

Everything was amazing!, we orderd Lobster Bites, Toasted Ravioli, and Steakhouse Skins as appetizers...all fabulous. My daughter and I had Caeser salads for dinner, my husband, the Chicken Gorgonzola we also added Mushroom Risotto as a side Some of the best food I've ever eaten. The atmosphere was relaxing and inviting. The owner, Mike, is an amazing businessman who made a point of working the room to be sure all of his customers were comfortable, got what they needed and enjoyed their experience. (Enjoyed our conversation about cleaning and changing light bulbs in his art glass chandelier) Crystal was our waitresses, personable, happy to help and made sure we did not want for a thing. If you are ever in St. Louis, Carmine's is a MUST!

Lovely Steak House in downtown STL. Service was attentive and quick. I had a strip steak and it was delicious. Medium rare and expertly prepared. Definitely an expensive experience but worth the treat.

Carmines's was a really nice place and the service was fantastic. I wasn't a big fan of the candied scallops but my wife enjoyed them. My wife loved the carmine steak and I think the ribeye was pretty good, but not great. The risotto was really, really good and we liked the special garlic potatoes u gratin
