Quite possibly the best sandwiches I've ever had. I was looking to get an Italian sub on the Hill, but the worker recommended the Italian Trio and I'm sure glad I listened as it was exactly what I was looking for. My husband got the Hot Roast Beef sandwich au jus. That was easily the best roast beef sandwich I've ever tried. I can't wait to return. We went on a Monday afternoon for lunch and the place was full, we barely were able to get a table. While waiting in line, we spoke with another patron about other great food in the city. He was a regular and informed us it's the best place in the city to get a sandwich, he was absolutely right!
The space was clean, staff friendly, and location convenient. We parked for free on the street a half block away and across the street.
Went there at 1:45 for lunch. The place was packed. I got the Italian trio it was very good. Big sandwich 1/2 would have been more than enough. Jim got the hot salami & roast beef. My sandwich was better. After all it’s famous for hot salami not roast beef. Glad we went I would recommend it.
I had the privilege of picking up the lunch order for Schicker Ford. This was my first time here, and it won't be my last! I'll get to the food in just a second...
I arrived at the pickup window and was greeted by a lady who had such a great positive attitude! They had ALL sandwiches DOUBLE bagged (like 10+sandwiches) and numbers that coordinated with the numbers on the recipe.. Thank you!
Now the food... I don't think there is a "bad" sandwich there. The add ons to the sandwiches are spot on. The bread was amazing. The hot salami is a salami enthusiasts' dream! I added the horsey mayo, and that really made the sandwich for me. So the custom-built ability is where I get "you can't have a bad sandwich here." Highly recommend. ❤️

I’ve heard of this place for years, but I’ve never been here. My husband had the pork Nado. I had the hot roast beef on garlic cheese bread was so good. The potato salad is a mustard base which is not my favorite but it was good. I probably wouldn’t order it again but overall fantastic.
Saw high reviews and had to check this sandwich shop out on the Hill in St. Louis. They make their own meat. Hot salami sandwich was very good. The bread had garlic butter added. Mine was toasted. There was little more mustard than I would liked but it was still delicious. It was packed. Service was quick. Food was cooked fresh to order. They have a take out window so you can order ahead. Street parking.
Finally made it to this Deli, timing is everything especially on Friday. If you arrive around 11 - 11:30, that's your best bet on not waiting in line that long.
There are places to sit inside and outside if you are looking to eat at Gioia's.
Choices from sandwiches to salads, kid menu, a few dessert options and frozen hot salami queso, hot salami brats, hot salami pizza , and summer sausage.
My choice was the Regular Meatball sandwich with marinara and mozzarella on cheese garlic bread hot toasted.
Brother got the Italian Poor Boy sandwich : Genoa, Mortadella, and Ham. "So Italian, so good." You Choose Bread, Cheese and Garnish.
Overall, both sandwiches were good, and prices are reasonable too.
Awesome salami hoagies (for those of you from the East Coast) 😉! We tried this place after hearing about it. I can say it's one of the best sandwiches on The Hill, if not the best. Loved the atmosphere, people talking and laughing while waiting, dont expect a large place. Would suggest not bringing your 15 kids. The wait is not long, and the employees are friendly and helpful. Overall, it was a great experience, and I highly recommend it. Will definitely be returning.

One of the best sandwich shops in STL for sure. The salami is delicious! Service is fast and friendly and they have plenty of outdoor seating and some indoor seating. The Spicy Dagger sandwich was killer. I would recommend you get every sandwich with the garlic cheese bread to take it to the next level. Their chip selection is also pretty extensive. Check this place out!
Good sandwich. Quality ingredients. Not the best I've ever had, but still solid. Very filling, large portions. I tried the spicy Dagget. A bit too much chewy fat on the meat, and that's what dropped the experience a bit for me. I understand that's personal preference though. The spicy Daggett does live up to its name, personally I enjoyed that, but if you can't handle spicy this particular sandwich might be a bit much. Otherwise, the kick was welcome.
