My fiancée found Back 40 on Google & we decided to give it a try. This place is definitely a hidden gem & a MUST if your in the St Augustine area! Everything was absolutely wonderful. Our service was great, & the food was amazingly delicious. We had the salsa, chips, & beer cheese appetizer & it was so delicious & freshly made that day, that we purchased extra to take home. We had The chimichurri steak taco & The mahi-mahi wrap with sweet potato waffle fries & they were both top notch! 10/10 we have definitely added this to our favorites list & once you try it, you will too.

Love this place. Don't let the strip mall location scare you. This place is a great little restaurant for a date. On Tues, they have "date night" which gets you 2 drinks, 2 entrees, and 1 dessert for $25! Been here maybe 10 times, and all the dishes we've had were delicious. Key lime pie is a home run. They even have cozy bar with decent beer choices. Back again in 2021 and still delicious fresh food. Did the $3 tacos before 6pm and they're very good. Also love the mustard potato salad. Date night is also back after the weird yr of 2020. It's $30 now and still a great deal. Went back for date night in 2022 and got the 'new' Datil Shrimp & Grits. Delicious, and shrimp were perfectly cooked. Little more grits than I needed, but will eat tomorrow. Date night now $35. Back again in 2023. Their potato salad is the best. Simple and perfect consistency. I look fwd to it more than my entree!

Another favorite of ours at the beach! Great servers and great food. Always consistent. Cook and owner listens to their customers feedback and make appropriate changes. Really happy with what they have done to the place. We drive all the way from the north end of town here and skip the other location in between because this one is so great!

I see pictures of the food from this place all the time. Finally had a chance to eat some and I was not disappointed! Full of flavor and cooked to perfection! Service was fast and friendly. Love the pictures hanging on the walls - great beach feel. Highly recommended! Make sure you get some cheesecake if they have it! Is the best cheesecake around!

So far we've eaten at Back 40 A1A three times on our vacation to Crescent Beach. Every occasion was spectacular and delicious. The salads are outstanding. The vegetables are fresh and tasty. The menu is very healthy and so are the portions. The staff is friendly and service is excellent. The gallery walls offer an artsy ambience and there is a vibrant energy about the place. We had the salads twice and tacos once. The Key Lime pie is great too.

The service was great, and even though there were a few separate parties that showed up the same time we did, we were all taken care of. The jerk chicken pineapple quesadilla wasn’t too overloaded with pineapple and the chicken was shredded and seasoned. We also got the wet burrito, it was HUGE, and you can add steak for a $5 charge…. I think…. Totally worth it. We will be back.

Visited this eatery/restaurant for a late lunch 🍱 and the setting was cozy, quaint and intimate. The server was very attentive to our needs and provided excellent service. I had the Thai Chicken Salad which was tasty and filling. Huge portions with very reasonable prices. Another must visit if you’re happen to be in the area.

My wife Beckie and I found this spot a few months ago. We were tired of the same ole stuff around the beach and decided to explore just a bit south and totally score9with this gem of a place! We found Back 40 A1A to have a variety veggie options, classic burgers, wonderful wraps and a few tasty craft beers. Wine down Wednesday is fun too. The staff is friendly Jordan is a great bartender and the owner Sabena is very kind as well :)

Started as a matter of convenience as they were right across the street from our condo. However we were very pleasantly surprised. The food is delicious, very fresh and flavorful. I ordered the shrimp quesadilla and it was excellent. We ended up squeezing in another meal with them before we left we enjoyed it so much. It was quiet in the restaurant itself but you could tell it was a local haunt compared to a tourist spot. Everyone was friendly and welcoming. Really great food and worth a visit, absolutely.
