Review Phaya Thai Restaurant - Sacramento

Jessica
The food was AMAZING and authentic. There was a slight misunderstanding of the spice level that my partner chose (selected medium and he received Thai hot aka their spiciest level) but other than that the food was very enjoyable and the Thai tea tasted amazing. Nice and smooth with just the right amount of sweetness. Shout out to the young waitress who was the only one working the floor and handling rush hour during dinnertime. She was kind and attentive regardless of the amount of work she had to do. Would love to visit again!

Random, cute little Thai Place in the corner of this shopping center! Definitely “mom and pop” vibes forsure. My 4 stars are really for my experience, since I only ordered a Beef Salad to go. I’m all about customer service and the gentleman there who greeted me and took my order was the sweetest. The salad was a bit pricey being $18 with tax! BUT.. I do have to admit, the salad itself was very filling! It was packed with tomatoes, cucumbers, onions, lettuce and MEAT! Check out the difference of what it looks like in its to go container vs on my plate.. The sauce had a decent chili lime flavor, but was a bit on the watery side. Overall, I would come back to try other dishes. :)

I would beg & plead with Sactown Magazine to include this restaurant in its "Best of the City" issue -- this is some of the most delicious, consistent, beautiful Thai food in Sacramento. I am newer to the neighborhood, but this spot has been here for several years. I've eaten here about a dozen or so times. Casey and his wife Ta, also the chef, run a tight ship as food flies out the door during the peak dinner hour. Casey is always warm and welcoming. It never matters how slammed they are -- he always presents a calm and professional demeanor when greeting you, taking your order, or bringing out food for takeout orders. As their popularity has soared with Door Dash and other food delivery companies, be advised that wait time can be considerable. If you call your order in, wait time can be as long as an hour and forty-five minutes. If you dine in, however, your order goes to the front of the line. Also be advised there are no paper menus if you choose to dine in. You can scan the QR code from the table, or if that doesn't work, you can take a look at the laminated menu above the cash register (photos posted with this review of the entire menu). The food is first class and looks beautiful on the large, white dishware they use. It is arranged artfully on the plate and is always hot and freshly prepared. I have tried several of the curry dishes and noodles -- they will cook it according to your desired spiciness (medium, hot, and Thai hot). The Tom Kha (soup) is my personal favorite (order the pot if your party is larger than 2), as is the Pad Thai. The atmosphere of the restaurant itself is warm and comfortable; there are no television sets in the room or loud music playing. Just about the only commotion is Casey fulfilling orders! Great place - neighborhood gem. Highly recommend!!

Excellent Thai food! My spouse and I love the Thai food here. It’s a few levels up from most Thai places around! Very flavorful! I highly recommend the pad see ew. We are about to move and though we’re bummed it will no longer be a 5 minute drive away, we’ll still be coming back. If ordering take out, be sure to call at least an hour before you want the food as wait times are usually 45-60 minutes (sometimes up to an hour and a half). It’s worth it though - just plan ahead!

Everything is excellent. Fresh ingredients. Jasmine tea, Thai iced tea. Red, green and yellow Curry, Fried rice, Wonton soup, Dumplings, potstickers and Egg rolls. My advice is order early. They are always very busy because their food is so bomb. Be patient they work as fast as they can. Great service and nice people. I've eaten here multiple times and have never had bad food or service.

Great small restaurant with authentic Thai cuisine. The fried rice is top tier! Definitely recommend that. My usual? Pad Thai, Chicken Satay and of course the fried rice! A+ 🔥 9.2/10

Easily some of the best Thai I've had! Food presentation was artful without being pretentious. The portions were just right and the tastes were a beautifull pallet of flavors. Well done!

Best Thai food! Small operation so go with some time to spare especially if it's a busy lunch or dinner hour.

This was my first time having Thai food. It was VERY good. We had the Thai dumplings and Meakong beef. I will DEFINITELY come back again . It was VERY good. The flavor profiles are close to Chinese food but much lighter and more fragrant. We ate at the restaurant, It was a very nice and pleasant dinner/ experience.

Had their Spicy Coconut Salmon Panang, tofu fried rice and Coconut soup with beef for lunch double yum. Called in an order 5mins before they closed and they made it no problem. Very friendly service with a smile. I will be returning.

Great place for some tasty takeout! My wife and I usually order the Thai dumplings, pad Thai, eggplant stir fry, and mango and sticky rice. We have never disappointed with the food here. It can take up to an hour for a takeout order, so plan accordingly.

This place is def my fave for Thai food. Their flavors are just right, the restaurant is clean and nicely decorated, and the service is excellent. Our faves here are Tom Kha, Pad Thai, Eggplant, and the fish cakes 🤤 You can’t go wrong here!
