Review Ma Jong's - Sacramento

Super great restaurant right by the Convention Center! My boyfriend and I went here when we visited Sac and ordered the orange peel chicken and spicy chicken rice bowl, and some crab wontons for an appetizer. The service was easy and super fast, and the food delicious! I like how it's almost like a fast-food/restaurant hybrid- you order at the counter and then you seat yourself and they bring the food to the table, and they have to-go containers out for easy access. Definitely will go again next time we're in the area!

I love Ma Jong's dishes and it's hard to choose sometimes which to get. My typical go-to dishes are wonton soup, wonton noodles, Shanghai noodles, pad thai and crispy honey walnut shrimp... but not today. Today I had the chicken lettuce cups. They were very tasty but I needed more spice (sriracha). All in all a good choice for lunch although I should probably have only eaten half of it lol.

Another place which I have constantly passed by and never stopped in until today. Friendly, helpful staff who made good suggestions about ordering (which one does at the counter, is assigned a number and has food delivered efficiently at whichever table one chooses, inside or out) There is something for everybody and I saw happy, satisfied diners all over the restaurant.

Nice fast casual restaurant...conveniently located. I ate here prior to a concert at the theater and they had our food out fast. I knocked off one star because my dinner selection was a disappointment...I ordered Pad Thai, and this dish was nothing like Pad Thai. It tasted ok, but not what I was expecting. Everything else at the table looked great, and the crab wontons were really yummy.

Ordered their pad thai and it was terrible. It was a huge ball of dry noodles with absolutely no flavor. My coworkers came by my desk and agreed that it did not look appealing at all. Pretty expensive for such poor quality.

Love Ma Jong's for lunch. Service has always been quick. You order at the counter and they deliver it to your table. Love their noodle soups (great broth). Quality ingredients. Good seating both indoor and in the nice courtyard outdoor. Nice view of a park. I have never seen the dining room dirty or messy. Indoor has nice high ceilings. Expect to pay $12 for lunch. No hassle or guff if you only want to drink water. Never had a bad meal there.

Decent food, small menu but with just enough options to have something for everyone. I liked the low stool seating at the tables. I'm not sure how I feel about the communal shared table environment but it's a small location to handle a lot of people so it didn't really bother me. Food was above average but I can't say it's a place I would request to go eat there if I was outside the immediate walking area.

Very impressed!. I'm a vegan so there aren't many options when it comes to dining out. I got the veggie rice bowl with tofu and thoroughly enjoyed it. The veggies were fresh and perfectly cooked, brown rice was nice and the tofu and sauce were very yummy. Wife loved the pho which looked very good and was loaded with meat. The prices were very reasonable and the decor is cozy and inviting. Cool bathroom too with the double two-way mirror so the men and women can wave at each other while washing hands. Will definitely be back if I'm in the area.

What a find! A buddy and I were on our way out of town and decided to search for Chinese in Sacramento. Easy to locate, available parking, great decor, friendly staff, and lots of delicious food! Outdoor seating is available, but the inside dining room is just fine. I will definitely be back!

The Ma's Fried Brown Rice is outstanding. Absolutely delicious. One plate is enough for two people. The service is friendly and enjoyable. Will definitely be back soon.

Food panders towards Food Court style. Everything I have tried at Ma Jong's has been sweet, or has sweet overtones. Even those items that are "spicy". I think food should be balanced, and should convey excitement. Ma Jong is definitely not balanced.

Plan to spend some time waiting in line and finding a spot to sit of you go on a weekday during the lunch rush. the line was out the door on our first attempt to eat here on a Friday during lunch rush. we came back on Saturday and we had the place to ourselves. this isn't your typical chinese restaurant. you order at a counter and seat yourself. you have the option of dining inside in a communial style atmosphere or dining outside in a nice posh patio shaded by an abundance of trees. they offer a variety of Asian food and you have the option of having brown rice. their food doesn't have MSG you won't be feeling blah afterwards. I had the Ma's chicken fried rice with brown rice and the honey walnut shrimp. the portions were just right and the taste was delicious. I will definately be going back but not during the weekday. if you get the craving for some great asian food late night thur-sat. them this is the place to go since they are open until 230a.

...I ordered Honey Ginger Chicken and it was SO good! They serve huge portions so I couldn’t finish the whole thing (and didn’t want to feel like I needed a nap the rest of the day :-P ), but I brought home my leftovers for T-Man to devour.

When I went vegan, it didn't take me long to figure out that I could usually find something decent to eat in a Chinese restaurant.   So when I found myself looking for someplace to catch a late lunch yesterday, I decided to try Ma Jong's Asian Diner. I was a little worried looking at the first page of the menu because I didn't see a single thing I could eat.   But the second page more than made up for the lack of vegan offerings on the first page!   On the second page, I found that nine of Ma Jong's signature dishes, which are served with white or brown rice, can be made with tofu instead of some form of animal protein.   A picture of a tiny pepper was thoughtfully placed next to the description of each of the dishes that are considered spicy.   Since I like my food spicy, I ordered the tofu mandarin kung pao, which consisted of zucchini, bell peppers, onions, chili peppers, and roasted peanuts in a chili garlic sauce.   I thought the portion size was exactly right, since I left the ta
