I had my eye on checking out this new midtown spot for a few weeks now. Today my friend Cat and I decided to try it out this am for brunch. This weekend was their first brunch service and I must say that it was Stellar! We tried a variety of items and NOTHING disappointed!! It was all so good! They are definitely doing different things than other restaurants in sacramento and I loved it! It is definitely a seafood heavy restaurant and is limited on choices for someone that doesn't eat fish. The wait staff were very attentive and friendly. We even asked about an item that was on their dinner menu and they happily accommodated and made it for us! I would highly recommend you try this new spot out! Omg the uni flan is to die for!!! We can't wait to go back!

Went for brunch and didn't even realize it was supposed to be Asian fusion. Maybe the dinner menu has more Asian influence? But, brunch was great!! The daily oysters were perfect. Fried chicken and waffle with soft boiled egg was so good! Great service and ambience. I was pleased with the beer and wine menu. We'll be back for sure!

Well, we've been at Skool's before and always loved it. Have to say that their Dine-Sacramento 3 course $35 dinner was superb! Well thought out, creative and sooo satisfying. The 1 st course of some sautéed white shrimp on a bed of frisée and a celery root remoulade, yummy. The main course was this large filet of panko crusted salmon with a wasabi like tartar sauce... om goodness, ate the whole thing! They didn't skimp on the portions. Some vanilla ice cream with caramel and pumpkin seed brittle, oh boy! And, of course, we love Olia!!! Highly recommend!

Loved every single thing we ordered: Namero, Karaage Wings, Fried Mushrooms, Yellowtail Jaw, and lots of wine. But the Fish Ribs are a standout. So unique: flavorful, great texture, they look like pork spareribs! And the BBQ sauce was a wonderful compliment to the fish, and deftly applied so the flavor didn't overpower. And the staff are great. Olia, one of the owners, made the evening truly memorable. What a passionate group of people! A welcome addition to the excellent Sactown food scene.

Not your father’s Japanese restaurant. Lots of creative and delicious choices...don’t come here looking for your standard boring sushi rolls. The salmon tartare with egg is to die for. Also loved the pork belly and the sashimi was very fresh. Although our party of three showed up on a busy Saturday night without reservations, one of the owners could not have been more accommodating. We’ll be back again and again.

Skool is in session! We sampled a number of happy hour dishes and drinks. Each thing was absolutely delicious! I had the best Takoyaki I've ever had and the best Karaage. If you're a fan of Japanese food, definitely come here. Tuesday is all day happy hour! We also had the Uni Flan and I must say that it was a delicious spread! I wasn't sure what to expect. And if you're a fan of fried things, the Baby Eryngii Fries are a treat! We'll definitely be going back to Skool.

A modern Asian fusion restaurant. The food is definitely unique. Who would have thought we can turn spaghetti into somewhat of a ramen bowl. It was very yummy I might add. Among the highs, there are definitely some lows as well. The Brussels sprouts for example was so so at best. Overall, it was a good experience, will definitely go back again.

Small, contemporary Japanese fusion-style Izakaya style gastropub with unusual small plates and creative sauces, beautiful presentation including nori seaweed fries, fried Brussels Sprouts with yuzu miso sauce, Ika yaki grilled squid, favorite takoyaki octopus balls of buttermilk batter. They also have a nice selection of Japanese beers, cocktails, shochu, a nice rosé and sake. Very knowledgeable, efficient, flexible waiter who assists with gluten-free and dairy-free options. We will be back!

Service is always so wonderful here, and I love the vibe of the place. Food is always spot on, and while they may not have a full liquor license, the special cocktails are truly delicious, and beautifully presented. It’s a great spot in the middle of Midtown to check out, have some oysters, enjoy Japanese fusion food, and relax.

Japanese gastropub with amazing dishes and colorful and well decorated ambiance. Even though the restaurant was packed and extremely busy, service was incredibly attentive and personal. Each dish was unique with beautiful presentations. My recs - unni flan and squid ink spaghettina, the dashi broth had wonderful depth of flavors and balance of acidty and textures.

Got a chance to get a lovely 3 course meal during the dine Sacramento event. The food was very good and the ambience they setup was great. The staff seemed overwhelmed due to the amount of business but they did they're absolute best and it was an awesome experience none the less. They offered a sake pairing with the meal that was all done very well. I will definitely be returning in the future.

Skool is a great place for high quality seafood and interesting flavors. It's a restaurant that is eager to share the unique identity of it's food. It is authentically fresh in many ways. You won't find many traditional dishes here Rather, maybe some which sound familiar, but have been prepared in new and exciting ways. Taste is an adventure, Skool is a great place to explore. It's also nice and charming on the inside. They've done their best with a space which was originally built as an office. Definitely recommend checking out. The squid ink pasta is my favorite.

Food is great buy portions are somewhat small. Wait staff friendly and attentive. Good location but parking could be a challenge. Decor is makes you ate in a seaside Japanese fishing village. I recommend the mushroom fries.
