Review Selland's Market-cafe - Sacramento

First time at Selland’s. I’ve never been here before. Got the boys together on a Friday (11/17) afternoon. Arrived at about 11:30 which is when they open. Very easy to get to off of H street. Parking is along the neighborhood, not too difficult to find when I went there. Ordering is over the counter. Menu is posted overhead and options are what I would expect for a Cafe. The atmosphere is super casual and you pay at the register after placing your order. We grabbed an outdoor table on the east side of the building where there are plenty of seating. Food arrived within about 15 minutes of waiting or so. Food presentation is about a 5/5. Taste is about a 3/5. My burger tasted okay but came out much saltier than expected. The chef that prepared my patty definitely over-seasoned my burger. My lunch which comprised of a burger, side of fries, and ice tea with tip came to about $25… a little on the pricey side for a casual lunch. Service was fine about a 4/5. Value to price ratio is about a 4/5. And overall experience a 4/5. To sum it up, this place is an easy casual dining place to grab a bite to eat. The outdoor seating is nice but I will guess it gets pretty cold during the cold season. Would say to give this place a try but try another menu option other than the burger if sodium is of a concern. Expect to spend about ~$25 or so per person. Personally there are other cafes in the area that offer better options at the same price for a slightly better dining experience. If you find this review helpful, tap the thumbs up button below.

We have heard good things about Selland's and they lived up to the hype. Very tasty food, highly recommend the pizza and the roast beef dip. We also really enjoyed the Vanilla lemonade. This is a more expensive meal but we thought the quality of the food was worth the price.

With its casual setting and friendly staff, Selland’s offers a welcoming dining experience in East Sacramento. The service is prompt and curbside pickup makes grabbing a bite convenient. The diverse menu ranges from salads and sandwiches to pizza and pasta. While parking can be tricky during busy times, the cozy atmosphere and tasty, fresh meals keep us coming back time and again. Overall, Selland’s aims to please and includes thoughtful extras like curbside service and a loyalty program that make this a neighborhood go-to spot.

Interesting neighborhood Cafe located in East Sacramento. Their menu has a nice variety from brick oven pizza's to fresh made salads. Outdoor seating is available but there is limited parking.

I came here with family before walking the Fab 40 lights. It's a nice place with outdoor and indoor dining. I have never been before but my niece has been many times. Nit knowing what to order...she told me the pizza was really good so I shared one with my mom. We ordered the combination pizza....it comes with tomato coulis, mozzarella, salami, pepperoni, sausage, red onion, mushroom, green bell pepper, black olives, I ordered with no bell peppers which was over 21.00 after tax...and if you want ranch...they charge you 1.00 for a tiny little ranch...so I brought my own to share with the table. Thats ridiculously over priced. You spend 20 bucks on a pizza and can't even get a little ranch... The pizza was just okay. Personally...I love domino's and way cheaper. My niece had the chicken pizza and loved it. Thats what she orders each time. My other niece ordered the FARMER’S MARKET $13.95 salad mixed greens, avocado, cucumber, cherry tomatoes, carrot, radish, green onion, dill, nut and seed mix, choice of dressing. She liked it...but very pricey for a salad. Overall...my family liked the place. I would not come back on my own. I have liked other places better.

Always good food and service. Never disappoints. It is an ok atmosphere, considering the size of the space, but it does get crowded and a bit noisy due to popularity.

We came here with a party of four on a Friday night before the Epic Obstacle Course Race. You seat yourself and we found a table in the main dining area, but it was pretty busy, so I’d imagine it’s pretty difficult at peak times. Our hosts, natives of the city, were astounded and told us it was hardly ever that busy (classic them). We ordered at the counter and the price was very reasonable for two people and a dessert to split (and booze!) Lemon Chicken Breast- My wife and her high school friend both had this. The high school friend said that it was one of his favorite dishes, which just shows how much he’s grown, emotionally since graduation. Adulthood is loving lemon chicken for low it’s low carb, high protein ratio. He had it a la carte, splitting the large salad with his girlfriend. I didn’t hear any complaints about the quality from either of them and the bits I ate when they weren’t looking were delicious. Teriyaki Chicken Thigh- I chose this with a side of mashed potatoes and it was fantastic. It was lovely and juicy, with the bone in to preserve some of the flavor of the meat. The skin was slightly crisp and caramelized. It paired well with the mashed potatoes because of the great combination of salty and savory with creamy and buttery. And because anything potatoes is delicious. Asian Salad- My wife and I split this cold salad between us but I ended up eating most of it because that is my lot in life. It was similar to a Costco salad, with mandarin oranges and the sweet sesame dressing, but it had a great crunch from the purple and white cabbage. Mashed Potatoes- This is one of their more popular side dishes. It’s made from potatoes that have been “mashed”! Who knew? Broccoli- Pretty standard steamed broccoli. Inoffensive flavor and a kind-hearted, spiritually-satisfying portion. Goat Cheese and Apple Salad- The native Sacramentals ordered this and were generous enough to share an amount of it (it was massive). Lovely mix of sweet and savory. Definitely a great summer salad. Carrot Cake- While this cake was made with carrots, it does not have all the inherent health benefits one would expect. However, this is my wife’s favorite cake, so, inevitably, I ate most of it. Double Chocolate Cake- Twice the chocolate of a normal cake! What’s not to like? Overall, it was very cool experience and the staff was super helpful and patient with us, considering we made our choices and then completely threw them out when it was time to place our order. They gave great recommendations and, ultimately, helped us stop panicking and decide what to eat.

Sellands had Temple coffee, a really good German chocolate cupcake and the banana pudding is to die for. Pizza is ok, I wish salad was a bigger serving and the white cake with raspberry frosting with strawberry jam lemon curd was not good. The cake was dry and there was no raspberry taste in the frosting. The only part of the cake that was good was the lemon curd. I would go back

I really like this place. They have a good variety of tasty and healthy food. From the sandwiches (both cold and hot) to the deli sides to the deserts, everything was fresh and well made. The carrot cake is a particular standout, however, at $6 a slice it seems a little on the high side, but it is worth it!

You can't go wrong with the salmon with sides! But on my last trip with a friend, we arrived around 130pm, and no more salmon! I settled on the Angus Burger... cooked exactly to my requested specifications! A little on the pricey side, but you get what you pay for in quality of food, service and the clientele. ☆☆☆☆☆

I almost didn't stop here after visiting a plant shop, but I'm glad I did. I ordered the Moroccan chicken sandwich and a side salad. Y'all I took one bite and stumbled. I was not expecting that flavor! It was delicious. The side salad was great too. I also got an oatmeal cream cookie, I wasn't feeling it. I thought it was going to taste like the old school oatmeal cream pies and it was just two oatmeal cookies with too sweet of cream stuffed in between. I would go back if not for anything else, that chicken sandwich!

Picture is of a half eaten Tuna Melt. Ya can't get them any better than this, folks. Yes, the food is a little pricey, but completely worth it. $13 for the sandwich alone. Add fries is another $4.25 and an extra charge for a drink. Comes to about $20 per person. Luckily they are pretty sizeable portions, so 2 people can share the sandwich and fries. My sandwich was really good, so I'd go back for another. The boys got the bacon burgers, and they said they weren't happy with the flavor. I think it's because they had chile jalapeño in them. Who knows. 🤷‍♀️ Parking is very limited in front and there are 4 dedicated spaces for curbside pickups on the side of the building. There is no street parking.

Quality is always good. Great desserts. Limited GF options. Outdoor seating is quite good, sheltered, and with space heaters / misters for cold / hot weather.

The staff were nice and the food was pretty good and flavorful. I got the Moroccan chicken burger. It's in a nice area but parking kind of sucks..

Stopped here during a work trip. Scrumptious for the tastebuds and a visual feast for the eyes! Absolutely delicious, three cold salads for $14.25. You can bet I'll be back to try more next visit to town. You won't be disappointed.

Great selection of sandwiches, salads, and other tasty bites. I love coming here to grab lunch to-go en route to East Portal Park for a picnic. Stop by if you're in East Sac - you won't be disappointed!
