Review Ettore's Restaurant & European Bakery - Sacramento

__
Visiting Sacramento from out of town we noticed that this bakery was open at night with lots of people inside so we decided to check it out. Was delighted to see so many pastries and baked goods, so we ordered a few to try. I liked the princess cake and Black Forest cake. I also noticed that you can order lunch and dinner items. If we didn't just finish having dinner I would've tried. Perhaps next time.

Good place to visit if you gave up on your diet. They have a great variety of cookies, pastries, and cakes. Place had an old charm, not the cleanest, service was quick, I didn't dine, to get few slides of cakes to go and price wasn't too cheap, 3 slides of cake were about 15 dollars. I would definitely go there again whenever I need some sweets.

The only place to get a wedding cake. Today I had a Napoleon. It was layers of whipped with puff pastry and fruit. It was so creamy and decadent. Definitely one of the best bakeries in Sacramento.

First time at Ettore’s as my daughter raved about this restaurant and bakery as I’m from out of state visiting. We had a wonderful lunch absolutely delicious sandwiches and salad pasta!! We bought several pastries which were also amazing and so delicious!! Excellent customer service:) The cake we ordered for our daughter’s birthday was so delicious and very light not overly sweet! The cake was super yummy and beautiful!!

Great Bakery! The birthday cakes 🎂 are made so yummuy! Got one of the Chocolate Cherry 🍒 ones & was impressed! So busy.. didn't eat, but lots of folks were sitting down to eat. Long line went by quickly! Great customer service. Staff described each cake in detail. Definitely visit again. Highly recommended! Chocolate chip 🍪 cookies amazing!

First timer and now will be a frequent flier. The customer service was good and the food was AMAZING!!! I had the meat quiche which flavors were on point w/salad & fresh fruit. I got a lemon bar and chocolate chewy to go and they were delicious. I can’t wait to go back!

My favorite “cheat” day place that serves delicious treats. Kahlua cake, chewy chocolate cookie, and carrot 🥕 cake 🍰 are my favorites. Not sweet and so worth it. Prices are reasonable. I also come here for lunch and brunch. Their food is always delicious and will always return! iykyk

We came for Sunday Brunch with a group, it was very tasty food. Make sure to place your order at the front before being seated. I recommend the Eggs Benedict and the complimentary croissants and cinnamon rolls were very tasty! Can't wait to try the cinnamon roll french toast on our next visit!

I have stopped here for my lunch. Ordered house hamburger with green salad. And it was really good. High quality ingredients. Very juicy. I like them medium done. Very delicious and organic. Coffee is not bad either. The only thing I would change or update is interior and introduce more creative healthy sandwiches.

Bought these cake cups for a party. They were a huge hit. The cake cups were just the right size to satisfy your sweet tooth without being overly indulgent. Each flavor sounded so good that we had to divide them to share. There was red velvet, vanilla, caramel, and a specialty St Patrick's Day Bailey's cake cup. So good!

Highly recommend this place. Ettore’s is a great family friendly place, it has a great history. we get all our birthday cakes for the family from here. This place is always clean and organized, the owners, managers and leadership have a great team environment. It’s always a welcoming feeling in there. The food is Amazing always on point and the pastries are phenomenal.

For their pastries and cakes? 5/5stars. The Kalua cake is one of the best cakes I’ve ever had. All other food, 3 stars. The food feels thrown together and dated. I feel like the food attracts an older crowd, yearning for simpler times. Predictable. Would be fun if they spiced it up some. Also my friend’s salad arrived with totally different ingredients that were listed on the menu. After the meal and after we paid, we confronted a cashier and it was awkward because she didn’t apologize and just shrugged. Not the level of service I would expect for a “fancier” place. I definitely won’t be eating here again, but I’ll for sure be back for cake.

Had lunch here for the first time, it was excellent. The staff was awesome, so courteous, helpful & friendly. If you haven’t been here, I highly recommend it. And don’t forget the dessert!

I had the Crab Cake Sandwich(half)and the Ettore’s Burger (split/half). They were delicious but unfortunately the buns were not hot nor the fries. I hesitated to get a dessert at this place, since from the first look I could tell they were not close to be as fresh or delicious like other places...well I was right. I would leave it to that.

We come here at least once on our trips to Sacramento and have always been impressed with the pastries selection along with lunch/dinner menus. Everything we've tried so far has been delicious and tastes of high quality ingredients. The poppy seed danish was a bit too sweet with the extra glaze on top since the poppy filling is already sweet but won't knock any stars as personal preference is personal preference. Looking forward to future visits and for the new Roseville location to open up.

try the cream cheese turkey croissant!! I went there on a brunch date with my mom and that was literally my favorite thing. The carrot cake is really good & fruit tart ( wasn’t the biggest fan of their red velvet) and the burger was good but I’ve definitely had better. It’s super nosy all morning (11-3pm) so it’s hard to hold a conversation without yelling but staff is super friendly & welcoming I come back occasionally & I enjoy it

Whenever we are in town we always enjoy lunch at Ettore’s. Today we split their delicious burger and fries. Wonderful presentation—so worth the nominal split fee of $1. I always enjoy an Arnold Palmer made with the Citrus Ice Tea. No photos—we were too hungry.

There are a number of better places near-by to get out-of-this world espresso, but if you want a treat (come la Nonna l'ha preparata), this may be the only authentic Italian bakery in Sac you can rely on. The sheer number of baked delicicies is only eclipsed by their taste. I had cookies with jam, a morning danish and, yes, mille-feuille, all delectable (and no, I did not eat them at the same time). I found the espresso to be a little on the thin side (even though I asked for 'un ristretto'). Not a deal breaker, as I really cane for the dolci!

My go-to for pastry. I work in the area and visit Ettore's around dinner time twice a week. This is excellent, upscale food in a causal, relaxed atmosphere. They have a great patio which is heated in the winter months.

My favorite bakery items are the sandwich-style macaroons (vanilla, chocolate and pistachio), which are the best I've ever eaten. My wife is a carrot cake aficionado, and her favorite slice still comes from Ettore's.

The coffee here is great too. Far better than Starbucks or Peet's, and you'll pay about the same price and (maybe) wait in a similarly long line. But this just forces you to peruse the pastry case (dammit!!).

Delicious Red Velvet Cake. We ordered an entire Red Velvet Cake for our dinner party dessert. Presentation was absolutely gorgeous!! White, creamcheese-iced cake topped w/ red petals and red rosebud center piece. Cake itself was delicious but downfall was the 3:1 icing/cake ratio. Inside looked like Ettore's only used 1 cake round cut into 3 skinny layers--each cake layer (about 1/4 or 1/2 inch) packed between tons of icing (at least 1" or more!). So basically, we had a Creamcheese icing cake w/ a little bit of Red Velvet cake in it. Should be other way around for such an expensive cake! Because of this--3 out of 5 stars. I suggest calling Ettore's beforehand placing order & requesting more cake than icing. :)

SUPER DELICIOUS!!!. When I moved to Sacramento, I had contacted an old Culinary School buddy of mine to ask which spots I should hit in this town. Knowing my insaitable sweet tooth, (Hey, it keeps the dentist in business! I am helping the economy by ensuring job security for dentists!) Now, back to Ettore's.

When I first walked in, I glanced at all of the beautiful pastries on display. Then, I looked up to have full view of the area where the pastries were made. I was AMAZED to see that it was truly a European dessert factory! The sponge cake is staple, buttercream frosting is actually FRENCH BUTTERCREAM, which is lighter and made with CREAM, not SHORTENING like American buttercream. Fruits and nuts are generously used in just about every dish from salads, sandwiches, and pastries.

The coolest thing is that I found some desserts that I am only known for making; and they make them, too!!! Though I am sad that I can no longer claim to be the only one who makes walnut bars like the Danes; I am glad that SOMEONE has got it right when it comes to baked goods!!!

The prices are great, and the food is delicious! I am a frequent diner here, and I die hard fan!!!

Go there, you will be glad you did; so will your dentist! ;o)

Great for so many things. The desserts here are to die for - check out the pastries too. Handcrafted and very European. The tarts are wonderful, the cakes are light and rich. The Napoleons are the best in town!

The wood oven makes some terrific chicken! They also have a pasta and risotto of the day. The have different salads every day and the bread is wonderful. Try it

Poor Customer Service. After recently planning a wedding and dealing with various vendors, we were excited to get the name of Ettore's bakery to use to plan the upcoming 50th anniversary party for my new in-law's, we have never been to this bakery, we live in Texas, and are doing this long-distance, when my fiance called he was playing phone tag with the "specialist" Lisa, after several days of trying to get a hold of her, we spoke to some one in the bakery that still could not help us put in our order for a wedding cake, we were constantly connected to Lisa's voice mail, with no response. When the bakery girl tried to help us and asked us what we wanted, we told her we wanted a small tiered vanilla cake with a strawberry filling, with a creamcheese frosting, and she said that they could not use this frosting because they said it would not "hold-up"?? and they use fondant for their cakes, but we and many people dont like the taste of fondant, and we just had a four tiered wedding cake in Houston and it "held up" just fine. I think a business needs to listen to the customer and make what the customer wants, it's just good business, but first, they need to answer the phone, looks like we'll be using another bakery.

Only tried this once.... So maybe this isn't a representative review. My girlfriend and I got there at 7am on a Sunday morning, looking forward to some sweet pastries. The pastry selection wasn't very extensive and I ended up getting chocolate dipped biscotti that was ok. Jackie got an apricot danish and didn't finish it (meaning she was disappointed). The coffee was pretty bad. Overall, I wasn't impressed. Perhaps brunch, or lunch, or something else would be better. But for a bakery, I will always expect greatness in the morning and this was not found at Ettore's.

How has this place not been reviewed??. This is such a great bakery! Beautiful pastries, and cakes. To-die-for Red Velvet Cake. Can't say enough about the Napoleons....amazing!

Fruit Cake- it was yummy and good, nothing special. It was lite, soft and savory. White chiffon cake with light fruit pieces / whip cream filling.
