Review Grange Restaurant & Bar - Sacramento

Melissa Roberson
We started our meal with three appetizers, which we all shared. We ordered the shrimp tostata, the gnocchi, and the hamachi crudo. For entrées we ordered the spare ribs and scallops. Everything was flavorful, beautifully presented, and excellent quality. My favorite dish was the spare ribs, so tender and literally falling apart. The service was excellent. We made a reservation but half of our party arrived late. They were extremely polite and accommodating. We brought in a cheesecake from another bakery, and they were kind enough to cut and serve it. Wait times for food and drinks were slightly longer than ideal, but this is a busy place, and the excellent attitudes and great food absolutely compensated. If you are planning for dinner here, my advice would be to make a reservation and give yourself at least two hours.

I am conflicted here. The ambience of the restaurant is great, service was above average, food was above average but nothing memorable. In fairness, we were there for lunch and they only have salads and sandwiches. My bang mi sandwich was good but nothing memorable as I said. The burger was Ok too. My 4 star is because of the cocky which are as expensive as the sandwich. We ordered from the seasonal menu. My cocktail was flat with no flavor. My wife rim of fire had no fire or rim. These were very disappointing cocktails. I then had a lemon drop which was really good. So, if this happens to you with cocktails, make sure to speak up. As for the restaurant if they read this, please make sure to train your bartenders appropriately. Cocktails are as expensive as some plates these days and they should be done perfectly every time.

Had a lovely experience dining at this restaurant. The ambiance was calm but inviting, the food was delicious (in fact, I wanted to eat my child’s chicken / seasonal veggie kid’s meal). Drinks were also delicious! We got the lasagna, a beef dish, a non-alcoholic drink and some kind of whiskey sour, all of which were so tasty with well-rounded flavors.

We have dinner / drinks every time that we stay at the Citizen. The bartenders (esp. Nick, Kevin and Angeline) are great, the burgers are good and the vibe is super relaxed. I would recommend this place to locals as well. Get their decaf espresso martini as well as their burger.

Dined here on a Wednesday eve right after the Christmas holidays. The Grange is located in a hotel and has a wonderful ambience. Service was absolutely fantastic and just made the meal so enjoyable. The delicious food that was served also completed the experience. We started with the California Yellowtail Crudo and a salad (think they rotate their menu regularly). The yellowtail was so delicious that my mom had it again for dessert! For main, we had the Halibut, the double pork, the special truffle pasta and the shrimp uni spaghetti. All flavorful and tasty tho the truffle fettuccine for me had way too much shaved truffle on top so was very rich. For dessert we had the carrot cake, pineapple upside down cake and the mini donuts. With some coffee. Definitely would return here and dine again, everything was A++!

We ordered the gnocci as an appetizer, which was amazing, the dry aged steak and the halibut. The entrees were good but not very memorable as compared to many other michelin star restaurants. The steak left much to be desired and somewhat of a conflict of flavors with the sweetness of the side it comes with. The halibut was good, but it lacked the overall punch that would make it a long-lasting memory. The dessert was the pinapple upside-down cake, which was very good and satisfying. The service was 5/5 as at no point were you thinking you needed more water or your table was cluttered. They were very on top of things.

Excellent. The service and the quality of food meets the price point. I highly recommend the short ribs and the artichoke soup.

We are staying at the hotel here and have visited for cocktails and brunch. It's been a great experience. The food has been great and the service is wonderful. We will definitely be back.

Laura was a fantastic server. She’s an absolute pro. She took such good care of us and we enjoyed some of the best food and wine recommendations per her expertise. This is my most favorite restaurant in town because of the service but Laura took it to the next level. Get in for dinner soon!

Food is always good here. Service is a bit lacking. Our server seemed stressed out and rushed, but that didn't stop my bestie and I from enjoying our dinner.

This review is for the bar and breakfast menu only! The bartender was great and very attentive, the food was good and it is a nice atmosphere. The breakfast was good as well, but they were somehow understaffed in waiters, so post-Covid no blame and therefore also the full 5 stars.

I dine here for my friends birthday about two weeks ago! The ambience was so beautiful and chilled plus the server we had was awesome. The reason why I give this restaurant 4 stars because I had order the lamb dinner which was delicious, however for the price I wished it was more food. I was telling my friend I don’t know if it’s me but I’m still hungry. And she felt the same way. She had an appetizer plus her meal and she’s was still hungry lol.

Wonderfully delicious! Came for brunch (outstanding), but will be back for the delectable biscuits and savory Bloody Marys. Our server, Jayda, was terrific.

Wonderful service from the greeting team to our too notch waiter. The good was beautifully presented and cooked and spiced to perfect. We were very pleased and can't wait to go back for breakfast!

We had brunch here two days in a row, and the food was very good, elevated versions of classic brunch items. The first day we had a smoked ham eggs Benedict with a jalapeño hollandaise and side salad. The ham was very thick cut and delicious; the hollandaise could have used more jalapeño kick for my tastes and the poached egg’s yolk was a bit firm. We also had a great side of bacon and the market omelette with squash, diced ham, spinach and goat cheese. The omelette was quite good, but be sure you really like goat cheese because it’s the dominant flavor in this dish. The next day, we tried giant biscuits, pork belly hash with eggs, and the brunch burger that’s topped with bacon and a fried egg and served on brioche. I highly recommend all three of these items. The only reason for 4 stars instead of 5 was our service experience and the experiences I observed with other diners. The restaurant was not busy (and did not get busy), but we were asked about reservations and told they’d see what they could do to seat us. It felt like they were doing us a favor. I overheard the same exchange with other diners multiple times when I was there both days.

I recently orchestrated a surprise lavish anniversary dinner and birthday bar get-together for my husband here. We'd never eaten here prior, yet I walked past and wondered about this place for three years when I worked in the area. Now I regret not visiting sooner! I made advanced reservations and they accommodated my special requests to the T. My husband absolutely LOVED his steak meal, and I was super impressed with the gnocchi (ordered as an entrée). Service from the moment we walked in was impeccable, as well as during our meal and subsequently at the bar. I honestly wasn't sure what to expect before coming here; I had a specific scenario in my mind, and surprisingly things turned out better than I'd imagined! Though it's situated next to one of the worst parks, if not *the* worst park, in Downtown, it's such a beautiful space (and hotel) with delightful customer service and deliciously seasonal servings. It's the closest you'll get to a metropolitan fine dining experience outside of the Bay Area, complete with bums and liquor store on the corner. Totally worth it, though. I'd seriously come here more often if I could only afford it! 😅 I would 110% recommend this place if you're a boujee foodie and/or celebrating something special and want to feel grown and swank af for the afternoon or evening.

I expected a little more considering the reviews on the Michelin website and the price paid. Everything was a 10 out of 10 aside from the entree, Miso Halibut. Will Definitely try it again but maybe a different entree.
