Val's Tavern

Food was good, service was good, but a 3% credit card service charge was added to my bill. I manage my bills so I don't have to pay credit card companies, and I am offended that a merchant would expect me to directly pay his cost of doing business. It was not addressed on the menu and I was not informed until the check was presented. I was insulted by the lack of transparency. I will not return.

Garlic Parmesan wings, delicious! Meatball an ricotta pizza to die for! Wait staff attentive, friendly and professional make you feel at home. Outdoor dining in the summer to indoor dining post restriction this place is a must visit! I haven't had a better pizza south of Matawan until I ate here!!! Returned for the first time since the renovation. WOW! the inside is priceless. The staff is amazing, the food is still out of this world! Perfect for a first date, a family gathering or just chilling out with your friends.

Overall, the food was very good. The Val's Tavern burger was cooked to perfection, topped with delicious vegetables and paired perfectly with the fries. Other meals at the table looked equally delicious. So, everything seems good, what are the downsides? First of all, the atmosphere was very nice, however the booth we sat at was uncomfortable and not structurally sound. Service was okay, though I did not get a water refill when I so sorely needed one. All in all, it was a solid place armed with a myriad of TVs that serves delicious food.
