Portillo's Rolling Meadows

My visit was 26 January 2022. I had the Italian Beef Sandwich, Dry w/side gravy, hot peppers. I have much respect because of their Covid Card & mask requirement. I did not have my vaccination card (which this was a first for this requirement), so I had to get mine as a take-out. I sat with the others in my group but respected their rules and did not eat my food. I ate it back at the office. As for my sandwich it was okay, but it reminded me of a steak sandwich from Philly but with nothing but carrots and hot peppers (which I had added). I thought onions would have been added but didn’t see any. It had liquid beef juice, which I had put to side to keep the bread from getting soggy. So overall I was not really impressed. We were on a business trip so that is where folks choose to go the last lunch day there.

I have been to this particular Portillo’s numerous times and have never had any major issues. I read a lot of bad stuff in the reviews but have never encountered them. Maybe I am just lucky? The food at Portillo’s is good, but there have always been some things I take issue with, but it’s their food at every location and is not specific this one. For example, the neon green relish kinda freaks me out. It looks like something that came out of the same lab as the Hulk, but more radioactive looking. Their beef and cheddar croissant is awesome but if I don’t call out “dry” when I order, it comes to me in a big mushy ball due to over saturation of beef juice. Now don’t get me wrong. I still eat it, but just saying they can improve. The large shakes will destroy you for a few days. They are like a billion ounces of shake and you’ll be in a food coma and unresponsive. But, ohhhhhhh do I love them. That being said... it’s a standard Portillo’s which I really like and I have never had any issues here. Time to go get that large choc shake.

This is already 3 times I ordered food there in drive thru and they didn’t put my food. They forgot to put some of the order but they charged for that. They have 2 lines of car but they can’t serve normal to 1 lines. They employees running from car to car to take orders but they can’t make it normal. 3 times they ruin my dinner. Don’t go to rolling meadows location. They are doesn’t worst it!!! Don’t waste you time and money.

I haven't been to a Portillo's in decades! Ended up stopping in. Did not disappoint. Line was long but the workers knew how to break that line down! Let me explain, there was an employee outside taking orders before we got to the speaker. By the time we go to the speaker another employee was coming out with our food. I had forgotten to order some cups of water to go with our food. The employee went back and grabbed some for us and we were out the line in no time. Food was great just like I remember it.
