Mi Cocina

Truthfully, I expected much more out of this restaurant. The service was ok, not horrible, and restaurant was fairly clean. The reason why I will not give this place 5 stars is strictly because of the food and prices you're paying. The flavor was not there at all. We ordered Chili con Queso and added the brisket. The Queso honestly reminded me of some heat and serve cheese, with a miniscule serving of brisket. The brisket was also lacking in flavor. The 3 chips they gave with the queso were much fresher than the complimentary chips brought to our table earlier, pity they didn't give us more. As for the main entree, I order the fajitas. When you think fajitas, you think of that hot sizzling plate that gets the entire restaurant's attention.... this was far from that. I got 3 small slices of beef, maybe 4 slices of chickens, and 2 extremely undercooked, potato wedges? Rice and beans were also mediocre. This was not sizzling hot either, they brought this dish out in less than 5 minutes after I ordered it. I highly doubt it was freshly cooked. This restaurant is definitely not authentic, it's probably catering to those who want "Mexican" food without the flair and flavor. The only thing I truly enjoyed was the seating and music. I would not dine here again, there are much better tex mex options.

I love the ceviche pineapple!🤤 However, on today(3-4-22), I must have come in the mist of shift change, I didn’t get my leaf, my shrimp weren’t the same sizes, ALL of my vegetables were cut in chunks, including my pineapple pieces. I just recently started working in Rockwall and was going to make my weekend treat this location. Welp, it’s Dallas for me!!! Lunch shift was on point this past Monday I may stick to that shift on that day! 🤷🏾‍♀️💵🤦🏾‍♀️

First and last time dining. Service was not the best. Food definitely not authentic tasting or even good. Used my bank card to pay and left it in the ticket book. Missed the card and called. They had it. Went back described my card and the name on it. 3 ladies asked me for my id to get my card back hence never asked for my id to use it to pay for the bad food and service received from the same restaurant. The same waiter who waited on me standing right there just looked and said nothing. The hostess that seated me was one of these 3 people asking for my id. I realized it’s because I didn’t physically match the name on the card. As I walk away I hear the ladies say “she’s not Mexican” apparently thinking the name I just said and printed on the card vs my physical features don’t match their idea of who a hispanic person should look like so they give me a hard time. Afro Latina people exist in this world and my name has a right to be one of a Hispanic heritage. It is just sad and I’m poor taste what happened at this restaurant. I will not be returning. I got my card back finally but not without experiencing racism.

My wife and I had dinner here. Not what we remembered, then again the last time we dine in at Mi Cocina was 20 years ago. Service was ok it could've been better but our server was young. Best thing about the evening is when I ordered a specialty appetizer and t our server said " wow!" "nobody knows about that item only our good regulars". That made our dinner better.

Definitely do NOT recommend. The food did not taste good. Taco shells were cold and soggy. It took the waitress over 20 minutes to bring refills. Our order was incorrect. We had other items that we did not order added to our receipt. We were charged for extra sweet tea that was not ours. The whole experience was unsatisfactory.
