Denny's

In search of the elusive birthday breakfast got us dining at Denny’s. But gone are the days of the free Grand Slam breakfast and in with the $4 Everyday Value Slam off the value menu. No frills breakfast of two eggs (cooked to order), 2 sausages or bacon and 2 pancakes. Simple, doable breakfast fare. Light on the flavor, heavy on the ordinary. The overall feel and look of the restaurant is one of seeing its better days with torn booth seats, water stained ceiling tiles and light fixtures. Waitress did her job.

We came for breakfast, the food was good and came out as soon as always. However, my order incorrect but instead of sending it back I just ate it. I also was given coffee when I ordered a Coke. I don't mind coffee so I drank that. Also, my TOGO order that I added on was correct. Not a bad visit, but it could have been better.

Went here for a brunch on a Sunday afternoon. - Service = 5. Service was relatively prompt and polite, though I could tell the teenage kid seating us just didn't' want to be there. Our waitress checked in enough, and brought our food quickly. - Food = 4. The food was pretty good, although my wife asked for sourdough bread and that is definitely not what she got. My sandwhich was delicious, as were my hasbrowns, but my wife's scrambled eggs were quite dry. - Cleanliness = 2. The place is in rough shape. We were seated at a booth where the cushions were ripped and stuffing was coming out. Various surfaces were sticky. My daughter's bowl was not clean on the outside. The bathrooms were not clean, my wife decided to hold it instead of using them.

I do not like the North Denny's. Both times I've been there the food has been off and if I show dissatisfaction I get an attitude from staff. The pancakes were really thin. And I asked about it and was told "that's the way they're coming now". What? Are you kidding me? Are they not made to order anymore? 😆 I know that staffing is a problem right now with coming out of the pandemic, but for real, your cook should know how to make a proper and you should treat your customer with care.

Worst customer service I’ve had in awhile. Walked passed our table for 10 minutes before finally asking for our drinks and our orders. Then within five minutes of giving us our food we were given our check with no inquiry as to how our food was or if we wanted any dessert. We saw our server once after this and it was to refill my sisters drink with the wrong beverage. We waited 15 minutes for her to return to ask for boxes and to no avail. We ended up deciding against the boxes, paid, and left. To add to this it was a birthday (presents were on the table) and not a single smile, comment, or inquiry on a special reason for coming out today. Very disappointed. Also the food was underwhelming. The spaghetti was dry, the French toast was no better than soggy toast, and the chicken strips were standard.
