Review Jeremiah's Tavern - Rochester

Bridget Querns
We’ve visited this restaurant a few times, and this was the best of all the experiences. If I were basing this review on the first and second time we ate here, I’d probably give it three stars. We’ve come when it was busy and our table was completely forgotten. This time, we were the only ones on the dining room side since it was Sunday and the games were on in the bar. Our server was very attentive and helpful. The kids’ meals came out quickly (bonus - the Mac and cheese isn’t boxed!). Not pictured is the poutine, which we all devoured, though the gravy was pretty salty.

Let's first start off by saying how beautiful this location interior and exterior is. Inside you will see a very spacious and relaxing environment. The patio outside is a great size as well. The food was good... done just the way I ordered to my liking. Molly (our waitress) was very nice and so was the owner. I enjoyed my experience here and we will definitely be back! Certainly recommend...and if you decide to the dine in experience... it's worth it!

We had such a delicious dinner here tonight. My husband and I always enjoy Jeremiah's. They give a discount when you go to the Tinseltown Movie theater. Our server, Kelly, did a superb job making sure we had everything we needed. Of course we got wings. Their wings are Award-winning. But also The chili and the garlic bread and the salad was excellent too.

Friendly service. French onion soup is delicious. Recommend hot wings

Great place, food was good, great atmosphere, really cool server. Knocked a star off for lack of liquor selection. It was all there but limited selections of each.

The food was really good, as well as the service. Thanks for staying open and getting us in late.

Jeremiah's has a restaurant side and a bar side so there's a great atmosphere for everyone. They have traditional American favorites like burgers, wings, tenders and flatbread pizza. But then also some dishes with a little extra flair with some spicy dishes and some European flavors. Servers are always personable. About $30 for lunch for two without alcohol but with an app..The Meatball Skillet is amazing!

Food and service were absolutely phenomenal. Would, and will, go back in a heartbeat. Definitely recommend hitting up Jeremiah's and getting some good food and drink.

Great food after taking in a movie. Kelly and Shannon provided us with great service and even offered us the dinner and a movie discount. They were friendly and attentive. I think it was Kelly's birthday. Wings, salad and chili were great. We will be back!

Good Food and great Staff. Five of us go to lunch each month and today, the coldest day in years, was our day to try Jeremiah's in Gates. We were greeted warmly by Cecily and she gave us plenty of time to peruse the many choices while enjoying a beverage of our choice. Our meal was well presented and both the waitress and the manager came to the table to be sure everything was to our liking, which it was. The Mahi-Mango taco's were just spicy enough to tingle the taste buds, while the others in our group enjoyed a variety of other meals, all to their liking. We sat and visited for nearly an hour after our meal and were never made to feel rushed, although their was a good sized lunch crowd for such a frigidly cold day. The fireplace was blazing and it was a wonderfully social relaxed atmosphere. Thanks for the great meal folks, we'll be back again. And ignore all those "bad" reviews; we are five older and sometimes fussy ladies, so if we liked it, you all will love it!

Food was terrible. Best wings? Don't think so. The garlic parm wings were awful. They were essentially fried wings sitting in nasty oil, with a little bit of parmesan on top of half of them. The hot wings were decent but nothing different than any hot wing you've had before.

The loaded fries were bland. The cheese was not warm, and the bacon was bland. It tasted like someone threw cheese and bacon bits on frozen french fries and put that in the oven for a few minutes. The worst thing was the cornbread. I can't remember the last time I had food that bad at a restaurant. The texture was off and the flavor was offensive.

To top it off, the service was terrible. Our waitress was handling at least 10 tables at once and it took a very long time to place our order and get the bill.

I will never come back to Jeremiah's.

Great place for food and drinks. I don't get some of these reviews on here. First of all, they haven't even been open for 3 years so not sure what that reviewer is on. Secondly, the food is great. The wings and wing-related food are usual Jeremiah's quality. (try the bee sting sauce!) We've also had a party at this location and there is a private room in the basement nicely furnished with fireplace and TVs and its own restrooms and server station. The buffet food is quite good. Been there several times for lunch as well. It is by far the nicest establishment of its type in Gates. The local competition consists of either dimly lit old buildings, seedy patrons, below-average food or a combination all of them. Give this place a try!

Has gone waaaaay downhill. I remember over three years ago after they opened and worked out the initial kinks, this was my favorite place to meet friends for a few, grab a beer or wings after a movie or watch the bills or pretty much any sporting event. It actually was kind of my neighborhood spot, and that wasnt even my neighborhood. I knew alot of the girls from gates and they werent "lower quality" that is so easy to find in gates. Most of the managers genuinely gave a crap about the community and the food and they were constantly working to improve things. Now it just sucks. I dont know if it has anything to do with thier new location or a change in employees or new ownership or what, but it just feels different from the beginning and you can see it in the food service and experience. I still stop in from time to time because its still better than luckys, but i havent been excited about going there in years.

Not sure why there are negative reviews. This is the nicest establishment in Gates. Over 30 draft lines , bartenders are super friendly and the food is good too. Haven't had anything I didn't like. Staff is super friendly too unlike the other bars in the area. Only negative I would say is too many IPA's on tap but that's just my tastes

Horrible. Held a surprise birthday party there 2 weeks ago- nothing but a disaster - terrible, terrible actually no service, cold food and my guests were all upset that I paid such a high price for nothing - called and spoke to the catering manager and he told me they would try harder next time - there won't be a next time - I was embarrassed behind belief and will never step a foot in the establishment ever again. The rolls were so hard my kids could have used them for baseballs - coffee, and tea and water included it took 20 minutes to get coffee and then we were told they didn't have any more clean cups - ran out of plates and silverware - after my guests used the back steps finally we were brought cheap plastic silver ware 16.99 per person and I'm cutting cold chicken French with plastic -

I recently moved to rochester from buffalo and I'm always trying to find new places to eat . I herd about Jeremiah's on the radio so when family came to visit we decided to try it . It started off with the waitress coming over not introducing herself or even saying hello just saying wat do you want to drink , not even a smile from this girl . We ordered the buffalo chicken wing dip for an appetizer and the chips were so stale and gross . It was just not a good experience overall . I will not be going back

Same old Gates story. Starts out new and exciting soon to pale and fail. Lived in Gates my whole life and seen this happen over and over again.

Agreed- Gone downhill fast. First few times went there, good to great service, good food etc. Last two times in 2 months.... not so much. First time, had new server training? Supposedly? I drove all the way from marketplace mall, wife kids already there and ordered an app to kill time while waiting, by time I got there they were still waiting on appetizer. 15-20 minute drive, app got served about 5 minutes after I got there! Rest of dinner service just as slow, food was okay.

Went there last nite, o.m.g. Holy crap they need a server training plan in the worst way. No introduction from server,no litany of specials, etc., basically took our drink order, got them, then 3 minutes later our food order, after food was served and said he would be back with drink refills, didn't see him again for 15 minutes. All the while he was running around to other tables, while I counted he had all of 4 tables. And yes, I work in the restaurant business as well, our servers would be bored to tears with 4 tables. My wifes chick caesar salad was crap, wrong chicken on it (2nd time that happened too, asked for crispy, got the weird smoked flavored chicken), and very small in size.

So, we waited for server to come back, ask how everything was, plus bring our refills. Waited.. and waited.. and waited.By this time we had all finished our meals. Finally, asked another server to find him. We had seen him flitting to other tables, but not once could we get his attention short of throwing a brick across the room at him. So the other server got him, he starts coming back, realizes he never got our drinks and does the turnaround to go get them. Comes back with drinks, not even an apology other than "I never thought this job would be so hard!" Wow, really? Is apologetic, somewhat, about the screwup on the salad order, but no mention of fixing it, taking the chicken off the bill etc, just a " I'll mention this happened to my manager". .Rest of food was meh btw, daughters wings were okay (you can't screw up chicken wings), my burger was not better than you could get at a Wendy's for half the price, and sons garbage plate was defintely smaller in porion than in the past. (And they forgot the side order of beans). Both of these times were during the week, not even busy.

Too many other choices in the area to bother going back.

Welcome to Gates! .... The food was good when it first opened, but we've been back a few times and it's gone downhill over time, unfortunately. We were excited to have them close by as we really liked the Monroe Ave. location. However, the service here is just... embarrassingly bad on all levels. Utterly pathetic, bored hostess as well servers who seem to be completely untrained in the food service industry. If they are, they don't seem to care about much of anything. They don't know how to act, what to do, or what to say in most every situation. We won't go back to a place that clearly cares so little about their clientele they can be bothered to properly train their staff. Also, the burgers are all well done, they won't bother asking. Didn't ask us. This place has a very dumpy, trashy vibe to it because of the service and its really unfortunate. I suggest they fire their entire staff and start over with trained people who care to be there. Otherwise this trend of people giving up will continue.
