Best burgers anywhere. I have never found a better burger place than this Don's Original up by Lake Ontario. I always order a cheeseburger on hard roll with everything except onions. Free pickles on the side are great, too. Many times I hear people say they do not live in the Rochester area anymore but make it a point to go there. Me too. i live 145 miles away, but if I get within 15 miles, it is a definite stop.
Even on a busy day, the food was fresh and hot and the service was fast! The meat sauce has a unique flavor and great spice to it. We also recommend checking out the playground nearby and taking a short walk to the beach if you have the time/desire.
This is the one and original ground round Burger in Rochester New York. There are others that come close, but this is the best. I always recommend people get a cheeseburger on a hard roll, onion rings and a chocolate malt with dill pickles
Walk up diner with indoor and outdoor seating. Also have an ice cream window which we didn’t try but the flavors looked delicious. The onion rings were absolutely fabulous. The burgers delicious, juicy and filling. The Garden Burger is a veggie burger: while a surprise he still said it was yummy.
I grew up in Rochester and my mother started taking me to Don & Bob's (now Don's Original) in Seabreeze in the early 50's. Their burger (a ground steak sandwich) is the perfection of this American classic. And, the hot sauce they make on the premises using a closely-guarded recipe, makes it a truly unique experience. I order my sandwich on a soft hamburger bun with everything plus extra hot sauce, and add a little ketchup for sweetness. Request their complimentary pickle slices, and if you want a side, I recommend the fried onion rings. Their motto is "Where Quality Predominates". Remarkably, they've consistently lived up to that promise for the 70 years I've been going there. If you're in Rochester, this is a must stop. If you like burgers, I guarantee you will be amazed and delighted.

Don's is great. I love the place personally. It's my favorite local burger 🍔 joint.
I always get the ground steak meal and that's a little over $11. Ground steak, fries and a drink. They offer hard or soft roll and either grilled or "off the char" for your hamburger.
But..they are also know for their rib-eye steak sandwiches.
It's competition next store gets a lot of hype but Don's is the hidden gem. Give it a try.
This is a quick walk up place with counter stools inside and plenty of picnic tables outside. One of us tried the garden burger, which was a meatless burger, his first and he liked it. The other two of us loved our burgers. The onion rings were great. I didn’t care for the unsalted thick French fries.
I went here back in October after fishing for the day on Irondequoit Bay and honestly I was impressed! The outside of the building may look old and run down but the food is amazing! I ordered a cheeseburger with simple toppings and steak fries and I was satisfied! I will definitely come back to try more options!

I understand that everything has gone up in price but, WOW... 2 burgers, 1 VERY SMALL fry, and 1 large Pepsi was almost 30.00!! Not to mention the mmmm...
. 12 fries in the container for 6.00 was VERY SMALL. I over heard a guy ordering 2 double bacon burgers with NOTHING ELSE get his total.... $42.00!! I almost fell off my stool!! His eyes were in complete shock as well. Now, the food IS GOOD- But NOT as good as these prices think it is!!
Love Don's Original! My burger was great and the fries were in fact golden and delicious! The Philly Cheesesteak sandwich left something to be desired, so Ground Rounds are the way to go.
Fun place to stop while boating in Irondequoit Bay! My chicken sandwich was delicious, and pickles that accompanied were a nice addition. I would recommend getting a "value meal" however otherwise, everything else is a la carte and gets pretty pricey! My only complaint....food is yummy!
