Mellow Mushroom Roanoke

Most pizza places can be predictable... Mellow Mushroom has a great environment 👌 full bar, plenty of screens to watch the game and gets extra points for clean bathrooms 🚻 The food... fresh, hot and great flavors! If you are looking for a quiet place, keep looking, Mellow Mushroom is a fun place to go with the family or friends. Awesome for take out!

Usually we love Mellow pizza! We went a few months ago and had poor service but pizza was still good. We attributed it to the lack of staff everywhere. Then we decided to go again a couple nights ago as a special treat for my son. We walked in and were seated in no time. They were not busy at all and had plenty of help including 3+ people at the host stand alone. Then we waited for over 15 min for anyone to even say hello. We had multiple waiters/waitresses look at us as they slowly walked by to pick up a glass off of another table to clean. Then they would walk away. After considering leaving, we decided to stay anyway bc we really love the pizza. We had to ask the host if we had a waitress and he walked off in the middle of me asking to a waitress that had been looking at us. She was sweet but also said she didn't see us sitting there... We went ahead and ordered everything including BBQ pizza. When we received our pizza, we were given a BBQ pizza with bell peppers all over it... I said 'oh! It comes with peppers now?' She just said yea and went on. I didn't know they even had the 'backyard' BBQ pizza..I wish she would have asked which BBQ we wanted if there were more than one option. This one is definitely not as good in my opinion but others would like. Overall, the night was very disappointing. Especially because we took our son there as a special treat. The service used to be on point and everyone used to be much kinder than they have been recently. Not sure we'll be back.

We had visited the Blacksburg location a few months before and loved it. So when we went back down for our daughters graduation from Virginia Tech our youngest daughter wanted to go again. It's rare that two or more locations ever have the same results, but in this case it may have been even better. The food was great as well as the beer. The place was clean and the staff was overly friendly! ...and if you're lucky, Austin gets excited about pizza. 🤣 I definitely hope we find a reason to go back in the future.

$$. My hubby's Pizza was doughy and it needed to be baked some more. We also got the elevated Cobb for &14.99 with everything in it, but it was mostly filled with romaine lettuce and the blue cheese dressing had no crumbles in it. We understand service is slow everywhere right now, but our server asked what we wanted to drink then we told her we're ready to order, but said she'll be right back. She returned and dropped off our drinks told us to hold on she then tended to the table right next to us and asked how they were doing and asked if they needed anything else, left and then came back to us to take our food order. It was weird and made us think she cared for them more because it was a bigger table so her tips would be higher. I will say the hostess was very nice and very helpful and we're able to sit us right away. This is our 3rd time coming here and probably will not return.
