Sugarflake Bakery

I'll start out by saying the "cakes" were delicious. This is not the first time that I've had an issue with a request and how it was handled by the bakery. I went 2 weeks ago with pictures and descriptions on how I wanted a cake to look - I also wrote down that I needed the cake to feed 60 people. I gave the woman who took the order the pictures with the notes on them. I got a call back within 2 days telling me that the designer looked at everything and it would cost $_________. Even though it was more than I had anticipated I wanted this cake to be perfect. I agreed to the amount and didn't give it another thought....until late Friday afternoon (the party was Saturday). I received a call from one of the ladies working at the bakery who told me that the cake as ordered would not feed 60 people and that in order to do that and stay with the design it would cost an additional $200 - I told her that was out of the question and that they had to fix this somehow and that I was very upset that they waited so long before telling me. There were 3 phone calls between the salesperson and myself before I lost it and asked to speak to someone else who could make decisions because it wasn't fair to her that I was getting upset with her when she was only following orders. The manager who called continued to tell me that the cake as ordered would not feed 60 people and that they would make a separate cake "at no additional charge" to feed 30 people. She kept on insisting that I keep the "designed cake" out and hide the other somewhere else - cutting it out of range of the guests so that they wouldn't know that it was two cakes. As my frustration grew I told her that when I serve cake and desserts they all go on the dining room table at once so that my guests can choose what they would like.... and she continued to tell me that they wouldn't know the difference if I kept the other cake in the kitchen and served it once the designed cake was completed served - I was too tired and too upset to continue the discussion - so I agreed saying that I needed the "second" cake to have the same fillings and cake combination as the first - I was assured that it would. Fast forward to serving the cakes - since everyone was moving around the house before "happy birthday" was sung, many of the guests wanted to know if I had made the second cake (I usually make her birthday cakes) and that's why it was in the kitchen and different - so I put that one on the dinning room table too, along with the other desserts that I did make. Imagine how I felt when we cut into the second cake to find that it was all vanilla cake with chocolate custard and fresh strawberries, and not the chocolate and vanilla cake with two different filings - Extremely disappointed in how this was handled - will not be giving them another chance to disappoint me.

we had our parent's anniversary cake made here, and it was delicious. the staff is very nice and accommodating. we had an agreement with them so our driver would come and pick up the cake instead of us and they waited for him for almost 30 min after closing time and helped him position the cake in the car. very nice people. god bless!

Brownies are good but they're thinking about not ordering them anymore because they don't sell? Earth to Palermo's...you're a bakery. A bakery carries brownies. Think of the loyal customer. They obviously don't if they choose to not order brownies anymore. Come to think of it, they usually don't order it. Not cool! Or professional.

Friendly staff and great jelly donuts. Went back for more jelly donuts but they still had not been delivered a half hour after opening. Instead I bought what looked like crumb buns and they were the worst that I ever tried, hard as a brick and tasteless. After returning them, they did hesitate to provide a refund.
