Had breakfast here since nothing else was open. The breakfast sandwich was very good. Great food and a lot. I left happy and would return. Give Kate's place a try if you are in the area.
I know this place from over a decade ago when it was Sandy's Sunshine kitchen.
Still pretty much the same, but over the years, it has become a catch-all for yuppies leaving or going to Telluride. That is not a good thing for a what should be a quaint little cafe.
Great food, but never enough servers which in turn makes their attitudes a little sour, as they are definitely overwhelmed.
Seating is limited, but you cannot go wrong with an omelette or pancakes. There are no options for white toast and the English muffins come out like hockey pucks, but those two things are the only food drawbacks I can note.
Overall, though, the Western Slope is gradually dying when it comes to the height of it's restaurant/cafe options. Sign of the times.
Quaint little restaurant in Ridgway! Lots of options on the menu. Be prepared to wait a little bit before being seated, but it's well worth the wait! Everything looked good. I had the chorizo burrito, which had a chili on top that was pretty spicy!
Great breakfast. It was packed with locals, which usually indicates a great place. The chorizo burrito was good and the fried potatoes were better. Definitely stop in.

Kate's is our go-to place for breakfast in Ouray county. The food is always great, and often locally sourced. Lunch is always tempting, as well. Check the special board, there is always something great there.
Delicious and cheerful. Kate's is in a sunny and cheerful renovated house just off main st. The food is sourced locally and the animal products are hormone-free.
My husband and I split the chipotle chorizo burrito with sour cream and avocado *included* (no upcharge) for $9 and $2 split plate and it was delicious and plenty for both of us.
The place is full by 9:30am on a weekday.

The food here is outstanding! I highly recommend taking the time to stop if you passing through. We will most definitely eat here again.

My eggs were cooked scrambled to perfection and the home fries were delicious seasoned and crunchy!! Definitely the place to go have breakfast or lunch! We absolutely will be coming back in the future on our next trip to Colorado!
Very nice place to have breakfast. We got there about 10:15am and shortly after we sat down they got hit with a lot of customers.
The breakfast we had was amazing… soooooo mmmmmm goood. I was nervous about ordering French toast cuz if is at all soggy in the middle my appetite would have been over. But it came to me check to make sure it was not soggy, I but butter on all 4 slices and syrup. Took my 1st bite and music to my taste buds, the slight hint of cinnamon and the bread they use was amazing. I would go there every Saturday morning for there French toast.
Bf had there Belgian waffle with fresh baked cinnamon peaches for the topping. He also said that this was an amazing Belgian waffle..
Can't say enough good things about Kate's place! First off, our server Jen was absolutely fantastic. The place was slammed yet she seamlessly managed the door while also tending to all her tables, and was just wonderful to us.
The food was absolutely fire. The green chili sauce is next level, the portions are great, and the breakfast sandwich and potato wedges are huge highlights. The pancakes were delicious as well.
What a little gem. So glad we stopped here on our way from Ouray back to Denver!
Went with a group of 14 for a farewell brunch. Food was excellent and mostly came out altogether. The staff were amazing! The coffee at Kates Place is fabulous. They were fantastic- from the time I called several weeks before to arrange, up to the day of the ‘party’. Highly recommend!!
This was an excellent experience. Great food, good coffee. Our egg dishes were expertly prepared and came out very quickly. A shout out to Yati, our server, who was exceptionally thorough and friendly, and we watched her run around the whole restaurant, taking care of customers very well. THANKS for the great food and experience!
Although I got food poisoning, the staff was amazing and friendly! They are super welcoming and accommodating. This is a great spot for a good American breakfast! I tried to get a healthish sandwich with egg and spinach it was good but surprisingly greasy.
Excellent breakfast! Highly recommend the smoked salmon, cream cheese and red onion omelette! The raspberry jam tastes homemade and is absolutely stunning. Every plate of food we saw get carried past our table looked amazing! One waitress served the entire place and she hustled! She did a great job!
Great breakfast! I had the veggie burrito, my son had the sneffels skillet, his girlfriend had an omlete and my husband had eggs and bacon...all yummy! Friendly staff...cute spot. My only complaint is the 2.95 for coffee. It is a pet peeve of mine.
