Our dinner was so good, we went back the next night with our daughter who follows a vegan diet and she loved it, too! Delicious, well-made food. Great suggestions for whiskies to try. Can't wait to go back. Good spacing between tables indoors. Outdoor seating available but it is also a cigar smoking area.

Overall my friends and I had a nice time. The French fries were seasoned to perfection. We all had different meals and everyone seemed to enjoy their decision. The ambiance was nice for a small group or a first date.

This was a great place for an early dinner! We stopped in right at 3pm and we were warmly welcomed by the owner. The ribeye was cooked to perfection and the BBQ platter was delicious. We definitely have plenty of lunch left overs for the week. Try it soon. You won’t be disappointed.

If you are thinking about going...go! The bar is one of the best you will ever see! Mac did all the work himself and it is beautiful! The food is fantastic. Mac and cheese is BEST I have ever had! The burgers are a mix that are ground there. Smoked pork and brisket are delicious! Vegetarians can eat here too. Oh and if you like whiskey...he has that too :-)

Food was awesome. Steak was juicy. Duck was great. Fries were seasoned very well. The old fashioned might have been the best I've evee had. Only negative is they were out of wings. 😡

My family and I stopped in by chance ordered some sandwiches and we absolutely enjoyed them. The brisket was flavorful , tender and cooked to perfection and the pulled pork was heavenly.
The gentleman at the bar who took our orders was so kind and engaging. - great service.

McCormack's Big Whiskey Grill was terrific. The food is excellent, but the bartenders are even better. Their knowledge and willingness to guide you through your whiskey journey are terrific. Their selection of whiskey, whether it be Bourbon, Scotch, Irish, or something in-between, is basically unmatched in Richmond. Whether you want to come in for a quick meal, a quiet drink after work, or host an event, they can take care of you. Definitely recommend trying the cornbread.

I should have written this a month ago, but life interfered. My family is rarely able to get together in our home state of Virginia, but when we do, we're a lot. My dad, my sister and me, five adult children, and sometimes a friend or two. One adult child is vegan, another has Celiac and a few other allergies. On March 17th, we were in Richmond for a memorial service that honored my mom, which meant we were FINALLY able to go to McCormack's Big Whisky Grill. My mom would have loved that. We descended on the restaurant in staggered numbers and they could not have been more accommodating.
Because we arrived within an hour of opening, we were able to snag the big table even though we were willing to sit at two different tables if needed (we weren't so lucky at other places over the weekend). We discovered a new favorite whisky (Writer's Tears) and placed a second order of the creamy shrimp, bacon, and artichoke spread because it was amazing. Everyone loved their entrees, and my sister and I have been trying for the last month to figure out what's in the Smoky Agave dressing we ordered for our salads.
It was St. Patrick's Day and very busy, but no one rushed us...and we needed that. Many, many thanks.

New menu and I wanted to try it all, even the old favorites. Surprisingly there are more vegetarian dishes than in most vegetarian restaurants. I couldn't resist the BBQ platter. That was after a bowl of fried brussel spout leaves. (That went well with the red wine.) The sides served with the platter were nothing short of amazing. Beans that smoke for 17hr. Greens that takes 2 days to prepare. All this flanked by corn bread crowed with honey butter. Someone else offered me a sample of their Mac & Cheese. Good thing mama wasn't there [smack!]. I washed it all down with an apple ginger beer. I could eat there daily and never get tired of it. As far as whiskey goes...well, I'll just say - they have it! They have it all, and then some.

Nice craft beer selection, obviously an incredible whiskey list...food was very good, brisket best we have ever had...and of course best bartender in Mac! Highly recommend and Mac will figure out your flavor profile and make some incredible whiskey recommendations! 🥃 cheers!

If a $40 bill for lunch (happily) merits a $10 tip .... yer definitely doin' it right. AWESOME food, incredibly gracious, friendly and helpful staff. Mac's fresh brewed hot apple cider totally hit the spot.
Atmosphere, food, service -- McCormack's is totally on point. I know Mac puts every ounce of his soul into this place and it shows clearly. Every meal, every drink, every staff member, and especially, e.v.e.r.y. t.i.m.e.
You guys rock. It's pricey, but worth every penny. As my wife Terri and I are veterans of grocery and food retail for 50 years combined, we totally get it. We -totally- get what we pay for. You've earned your 5 stars. ��

Whiskey School is great fun and a great value. Our Wild Turkey flights came with Mac's personal narrative and such great attention to detail. Meanwhile, the bacon wrapped dates are yummy and my meatloaf was really flavorful--dense and chewy (good) and not crumbly. The shrimp and grits were perfectly cooked shrimp and creamy grits, great flavor and a huge portion. If you are coming for the food, you will be thrilled. If you are coming for the whiskey, you will be thrilled. If you are coming for the service, again, GREAT.

Very pleasant surprise! Son & daughter-in-law found it earlier this summer and brought us back with them. Outstanding prime rib & the brisket was the best I've had outside my native Texas. Torrential rain storm soaked hubby & son on the way in, and owner was kind enough to give them dry t-shirts. Awesome food & folks. Highly recommend!

Diamond in the ruff.. Amid the construction going on at Regency we had a wonderful, quiet evening. We sat at the bar with the biggest wall of liquor one has ever seen. It's a very large open space, great atmosphere with chill music.
Bartenders were very knowledgeable on various shots. I hate sweet potato fries in general but the ones here had such great flavor. Fried oysters were large and flavorful. My BBQ sandwich needed no sauce and was smoked to perfection. It will be nice when Regency is renovated and this place draws more people.. it deserves it!

Went there last night I'm hoping it was just a bad night but it took around an hour to get our food and I was not impressed ! Everything was cold the prime rib had no taste vegetables half cooked ! I would normally just pass it off as a busy night but the place was empty for the most part as the server was very knowledgeable and suggested several very good bourbons I'll most likely give it another shot at some point but not very soon I expect a lot better for 140$ dinner for 2 people

We were privileged to meet the owner of this amazing restaurant. He literally built it with his own two hands including the tables which have reclaimed wood and other interesting architectural features. The “Cuban“ sandwich had a Virginia twist, and the sweet potato fries – twice cooked – are to die for!

After knowing Mac since I moved to Richmond in 2008, well before The Whiskey Grill or The Big Whiskey Grill were open, it is refreshing to see where he has taken his business!
The Big Whiskey Grill is a world class whiskey bar with a menu that could compete with any restaurant in all of Richmond!
Last night was my 1st experience at the Big Whiskey Grill and what Mac has done with the place since taking over is nothing but amazing! The setting is warm and inviting and there is plenty of space for private events.
Hats off to Mac for creating a true gem!

I was there for a whiskey dinner and I had a great time! The owner was a very nice guy that made you feel at home! The dinner was delicious! The scotch whisky was nice the host was entertaining and the guest around if all introduced could have been absolutely good drinking buddies hahaha ! All in all I can't say enough about this place! This place should be packed! Beautiful place great atmosphere!

Went for Mother’s Day and my husband and mom had excellent, huge, delicious crab cakes with tasty grits and grilled veggies!! I had a burger with blue cheese and it was cooked just how I ordered it (medium rare). The cheese cake with brûlée finish was delicious. Very attentive, Mac, the owner, made sure everything was as expected. Definitely going back!
