This restaurant accommodated our large and loud party of 20 at the last minute. The staff was fabulous and patient. Mixed drinks were excellent. If I had to base the review stars off of the food I'd give them one star. The french fries were the best part of the meal. They seemed fresh cut and the oil was fresh. I ordered an only cheese smash burger and it looked like a frozen perfectly round and unsmashed burger. My first bite was soooo salty I couldn't eat it at all. I thought a smashburger had crispy edges. You should take the name SMASH off the menu because that is false advertisement or educate yourself on what a smashburger actually entails. I left hungry but the service from the staff was amazing.
Sidenote: This is the first time I've ever ordered firecracker shrimp and it was grilled and not breaded. I don't approve and the menu did not inform you.

Cool vibe! Great drinks, appetizers, and entrees! Really good happy hour and great bourbon selection available. Edemame is best in class, calamari done very well, burger is very good. Chicken pesto needs some work. I would recommend dialing back the salt in general.
Lucky Luke
Nice bar and restaurant - both is separated through a partly brick wall - nice ambient - cool thing they have happy hour every evening - very friendly personal - we felt quite good during our visit

Nice ambiance. The food came out really well though my plate, out of six, was completed wrong and had to remade. It tasted well made and fresh when it eventually came out. No kids menu. Bathrooms was clean. No dedicated parking but you can find on the street pretty easily

1st time here, came in for Easter Sunday Brunch. I had the chicken and waffles with a side of sausage gravy. The picture does not due it justice, it was soooo good! Also had the mimosa, overall great food, Chance was our server, very cool and quick to make sure our drinks were full. Will definitely come back again.

Sleek, clean, well rounded selection of creative cocktails. Definitely 1 of my favorite Old Fashions!! The Paper Plane was awesome!.....That Social Manhattan though...is only for the strong and brave! Lol
Can't wait to go back and try the rest!

Everything was good! I had the chicken and waffles. The syrup had a lil spice to it but it was a good balance with the meal. The drinks were awesome. The wait staff if really cool!

We went with a small group on a Saturday evening around 6 pm. The music was too loud to hear each other across the table. When we inquired about turning it down, we were told by our server they "would ask but probably not". The food was decent but we probably won't come back for our monthly meetup due to the noise.

i’m so glad that I was invited to this place because I hadn’t heard of it and it was awesome! staff were super friendly and readily available for anything we needed. the happy hour prices were great and they had a large selection of specialty drinks. I got a Rip Tide Rush cocktail and it was one of the tastiest and definitely the prettiest drink I’ve ever had. Cant wait to come back soon!

Such a great cozy spot. The staff was very attentive, and checked on us with precise timing. The biscuits and gravy were awesome, and the chicken and waffles, with a side of gravy, were probably some of the best I've had. The portions are sized to fill you up, and maybe take some for later. Make sure to check this place out!!!

We were seated and served fairly quickly. The Crispy Brussel Sprouts were sweet and a little spicy, and I had more than enough to take home. The Cast Iron Mac & Cheese has a mild kick to it, but still pretty good. However, I was not a fan of the Cheetos mix. To me it took away from the dish but it's still very good! The Social Nachos were probably my favorite. Just enough for two people and you'll still have room for your main course.

I love coming here for brunch. I always get the shrimp and grits. My husband got the biscuits and gravy but was a little disappointed that they were kinda stingy on the gravy. It seemed like it was the end of the batch or something. I would still definitely recommend this place.

Great happy hour and fun trivia night!

A classy bar atmosphere with good drink options that are not too sweet and full of flavor.
Reasonable prices and a more robust selection of interesting drink choices than many locations.
Loud music but a nice atmosphere. Good bar service on a weeknight.

Overall, came on opening weekend with a party, we were greeted as we walked in, sat quickly. The place has a good flow, a bit loud with the bar crowd but good separation from bar and the tables. Waitress was extremely helpful, patient, and knowledgeable. Answered our questions and if she didnt know, she got them for us. Drinks were good. Good beer menu and nice they had had cocktails on tap. The bourbon they had was unique. Had a slow drip with bananas and cinnamon. Food tastes great. Wings were perfect. Great value for the quality and quantity you get. Nachos were good and the mac and cheese had good flavor. The shrimp in the sandwich we got tasted fresh. They were out of some things which is understandable for opening weekend. Management was real friendly about it and offer us something else at no cost. We will definitely be coming back and recommend it to the locals and those visiting Richmond.

The place had a good Saturday afternoon vibe. The food was tasty. Only suggestion is to get bigger dates for the bacon wrapped date. These were really good.

Outstanding!! Anytime I see "52" in a restaurant's name, I know the food is going to be local, fresh and good... Social 52 did not disappoint... Pictured is the Southern Tavern Burger (no bun) and the fried Brussels sprouts... Ridiculously good!! Can't wait to come back to town to go again!!!

Love the atmosphere, the TVs, and the service is always excellent. But it is the food that keeps me coming back!!! The regular menu is outstanding and we had the best breakfast biscuit sandwich ever yesterday! Definitely a new fave for our family!! Cheers to the bar staff for keep us hydrated as well - delicious Mimosas and great choice of beer!

We went with friends for drinks before dinner. I ordered a margarita and unbeknownst to me it came with Black lava salt on the rim. Upon delivering the drink to the table, the black salt dropped on my white jeans, ruining them. The waiter did not acknowledge this and ran away tothe bathroom for ten minutes. We had to flag him down for club soda. We asked if they had stain remover and the waiter told us that there was "a Rite Aid two blocks down that you can go to". At the end of the evening, we still had to pay for the drink and received no acknowledgment that this happened. Very Disappointing. The $10 margarita ended up costing me $75.

The service and food is outstanding. Our waitress was super sweet & so was the manager when the power went out. My friends & I went for happy hour drinks, appetizers, and dinner. We got sangria, pinot gris, the peachy cocktail, and the green apple cocktail which were all tasty & strong. We shared bread, Cheeto Mac n cheese, queso, and the shrimp for appetizers. For dinner we had the Florentine flat bread & the seafood flat bread. We were too full for dessert but hope to come back soon. All of the drinks and food were super amazing and affordable. I like that they focus more on quality rather than quantity which I appreciate. I highly recommend this restaurant & will return when in town ! :)

I would like to say many thanks to the Owners and Staff of Social52!! Bart, Rhian, and Welied are the absolute best!! They catered my daughter Krystin's wedding this past weekend and did an amazing job! Their servers worked extremely hard with all task needed to make this the perfect event. From the pass horderves, bartending / drinks served, to the plated dinner, to busing tables, everything went very smoothly! Now about the food. Chef Rhian and Bart did a fabulous job creating delicious and beautifully plated dishes. The steak was cooked a perfect medium rare, chicken so moist and juicy , and gnocchi dish loaded with beautiful summer veggies. And the sauces were to die for!! Just give me a bowl of that sauce!! We have always enjoyed the restaurant, the the fun menu, excellent food, and social atmosphere! But Bart, Rhian, and Walied exceeded my expectation and went beyond anything I could have ever imagined to make sure my daughter's wedding was everything she dreamed it would be! We are customers for life!!

The service was horrible the manager Mikey is a joke ! The food was burnt and mimosa pitcher is watered down and the love to bring you drinks in dirty cups with lipstick and stuff floating around in it ! Definitely won’t be back to this place!

First time at Social 52 was great! Abby was our waitress and she was so nice and sweet. We enjoyed the Funday Pitcher which was awesome!!! I had the Breakfast Stacker which was no joke (so much food) and hubby had a The Brunch Biscuit. Both were delightful. However I must say that after eating the waffle I wish I would have ordered the Chicken and Waffles. So good!!! Anyway, on Sundays they have a rule where Mom's Eat Free and even though I didn't have my little munchkin with me Abby was kind enough to credit my meal. We will definitely be back and will tell everyone about this great and friendly place.

The moment I step foot into this place I felt awesome vibes. The food was dank, the energy was great, and the service was quick. That one bartender Chris was def cute.

I love this place even though I didn't have Bart as my bartender yesterday Emily was very nice. The sriracha wings are the best!! Now to try the brunch

It was a GREAT place- I enjoyed the Mac and Cheetos and the beer, bacon and cheese bread! My friend took me to a great place- I will definitely come back another time! :)

Absolutely fabulous! I die for the Mac and Cheetos!

Great restaurant, awesome food. A little loud, but to be expected given the hopping bar. Deep fried deviled eggs are the best!
Mark Wilson
Great venue, Great beer selection, and very courteous and helpful staff...
Michael Locey
Definitely some great food. We especially love to go there for brunch!
Will Conn
Nice, pub-style atmosphere and a decent beer selection lend to the restaurant's namesake, but the food was more appropriate for a 2am bender than an afterwork happy hour.
Tripp d'Ablemont
The best Chicken n Waffles I have ever had! And I have had it in many places. Georgia, SC, NC and now Va. The chicken gravy does it. That with the bourbon maple syrup. The bomb!
Amy Coffman Smith
Shrimp and grits, Brussel sprouts with bacon and chesapeake flatbread were all excellent! Can't wait to go back and try more things on the menu that looked great!
Janice Elizabeth Flint
Food was alright nothing truly note worthy about it. I didn't like the setting/vibe I got coming into this place. I got the distinct impression this was a place for foodies and hipsters to go.
The other people in our party had problems with their orders and he ended up speaking to the manager. As a first impression, and ultimately last impression, it was enough to drop this to a 2 star rating.
Caroline Moore
Awesome, hole-in-the-wall place! Cool atmosphere and pretty good food. Had the brunch on a Saturday afternoon with mimosa. Service is okay... they try.

We're from Yorktown, VA and went to Richmond for the day. We picked Social 52 over a couple other pubs in the neighborhood and I'm so glad we did. My husband and I both cleared our plates - everything we ordered. We started with the petite crab cakes, which were a daily special and really incredible. Then I ordered the shrimp and grits and he ordered the potato crusted salmon. Let me tell you, these were the second best shrimp and grits I've ever had in my life (and the only ones that beat them were in Charleston, SC). We ended with desserts of key line pie and creme brûlée. The key lime pie was ACTUALLY key lime pie, and anyone who knows the difference will know what I'm talking about.

My husband loves IPAs, and they had 5 just on tap, so this place was perfect for him. I like mixed drinks, and Social 52 did not disappoint. Their drinks are good, girly without being sickly sweet, and STRONG. You get your money's worth.

We'll be back in Richmond in a couple weeks for a Broadway show, and we're already planning on coming back to Social 52. This is our new favorite. Do yourself a favor and stop in!!

Nice vibe and good food and drinks. Solid beer list and they have Sam Smith's Organic Chocolate Stout which is a huge plus. The menu could be more extensive but the food we had was very good. The deep fried brussel sprouts were amazing. The salmon dish was very good with a large filet. The chocolate creme bridle was the best I've ever had. Our server Justin was very sweet and attentive. I will be back.
Tim
Best buttermilk this side of the Mississippi
Ray
Best shrimp and grits I've had in Richmond. Awesome bottle list. Awesome service. Bartender Catherine really knows what she's doing. Looking forward to coming back!

Good "bar" food, decent crowds but rude service from the red-headed bartender.

AWESOME. My very social, energetic - and pregnant - friend recently mentioned that she wanted to go out to dinner with some good friends. She wanted a fun environment, good food and reasonable prices, so we gave Social 52 a try for the first time since converting to new ownership. I must say, we were all incredibly impressed.

Social 52 has totally managed to keep the character and integrity of the beautiful old historic Fan buildings, but has completely changed the establishment. The once dark and dingy bar area is now open, airy and inviting. Soft lights throughout the restaurant give it a nicer feel than most of your Fan bars and the music was at that perfect level where it's not so quiet that it's depressing but not so loud that you had to scream to talk to your friends sitting next to you. All in all, Social 52 truly seems to have a concept going here - you'll be comfortable in jeans and tee or your suit, it is comfortable yet elegant chic and in no way pretentious - they're certainly not going to turn their noses down at you when you order a Miller Lite in a craft bar, which is nice for us cheap beer drinkers.

I had the duck and it was hands-down amazing. It was seared to give it just a little bit of crispiness. It was served a chutney-like sauce that complimented it beautifully. It was also the perfect amount of food - I was not "stuffed" but literally did not want another single bite of food. There were compliments from every single person at the table (I think there were 9 or 10 of us) and when one of the girls mentioned how much she loved blueberry mimosas, the bar manager hopped to it and presented her with one in minutes (even though it was not yet a house beverage!).

Additionally, the prices were great. Between my entree, bottle of wine, tip and contribution to the birthday girl's meal, I walked out of there only $50 poorer, which I thought was pretty damn good.

I think the only thing we didn't like was the fact that we had to make choices - there were too many things on the menu that we all wanted to try (from apps to beers to entrees!). Fortunately I have two reservations there within the next two weeks :)
