Review Cupertino's Ny Bagels And Deli - Richmond

Thank God this place exists! This is the spot for bagels, bacon egg and cheese on a kaiser roll and Italian hoagies. The food is always delicious. The staff members are always attentive, friendly, and the service is timely. The vibes are what I need and expect from a NY deli type place. I love everything about this place from the faded pictures, random hanging art of the statue of liberty to the picture of Yankee stadium in the corner. I highly recommend checking out Cupertino's for yourself! Get in early because the best rolls and bagel flavors go quickly!

This place was AMAZING. We are on vacation here from NC. If you want a good breakfast spot this is it! Definitely recommend the chicken egg and cheese!

I enjoyed a salt bagel with sun dried tomato spread, Turkey, and cheddar cheese. The spread was amazing! Adding all of the item individually made this sandwich a bit pricey, but it was delicious.

I recently had the pleasure of visiting Cupertino's N.Y. Bagels and Deli and I must say, the experience was nothing short of exceptional. I want to take a moment to highlight the amazing work of one particular worker who truly stood out. From the moment I walked in, their warm and friendly demeanor made me feel welcome. It was clear that they take pride in their work and are dedicated to providing top-notch service. Thank you, Angel, for making my visit so enjoyable. You have gained a loyal customer, and I look forward to returning soon!

Fast and polite service; the bagels truly remind me of NY/NJ bagels.

Stopped by and got some fresh bagels for a family breakfast, fresh, still warm, and delicious! Also picked up 6 Black and White cookies, awesome! New bagel shop for me when I am in Short Pump!

this place is amazing! Normally very ambivalent about bagels however Cupertino’s bagels are delicious beyond explanation. These bagels are fresher than an other place that make fresh bagels daily. Sandwiches are out of this world. They have a very good Reuben & other deli style sandwiches. The bagel breakfast sandwiches are heavenly…try the lumberjack with taylor ham & your favorite breakfast meat…you can thank me later.

Excellent, quick, and friendly service. Tasty food. While it doesn't 100% compare to NY bagels in NY, they're still mighty delicious! I thoroughly enjoyed my egg and cheese on an everything bagel. I also ordered a delectable "cigar"-- raspberry twist pastry with icing. Coffee was good, too!

Yo I'm a native New Yorker, born a raised in queens and I've had the best of the best 🥯 bagels. Since moving to richmond I found this spot , it's the best I've had since I left the city. Do your self a favor and grab a corner of that coffee cake, you won't regret it. Always support local businesses

Great choice for a quick, tasty brekky bagel. I was in town on business and wanted something more than the very ordinary hotel breakfast and found this nearby. I'm glad I did. I ordered the Lumberjack on Pumpernickel. Excellent bagel and a very hearty portion of sausage (2 patties) and egg (2 layers). Very filling for one bagel sandwich. Good prices, coffee, and prompt, pleasant service. I'll definitely be back next time I'm in the area on business.

AUTHENTIC BAGELS just like the Northeast. Hot coffee with cream & sugar & it's a dunkers delight. Next time I'll ask for my bagels to be medium toasted. Is that right? Oh do I tell them to put it on "6", not "2".😁😋

Went here on a whim and because I heard they have salt bagels and they did along with a lot of others, bagels are amazing! They are very welcoming and have a nice little menu with great prices! I will be back to try more things on their menu!

Fuhgettaboittit!!! That's a great tasting bagel!!! Faster than people trying to get out of the City for the weekend.

Every time I order from here the food is delicious and fresh. I have been ordering our team meals for 25 people for the past year and they have been extremely reliable. Our food is always ready on time and tasty. I would definitely recommend their food!!

Can't say enough about this place. The staff from the owner down are top notch. The food is amazing, you can tell everyone here takes pride in what they do. Delivering the best food and service they can. Unreal breakfast bagels and the lunch sandwiches are packed with meat.

We order team breakfast for VCU Field Hockey a lot for the past two years. They are always prompt and the food is delicious!! The pastry’s are also very good!

Coffee cake was so delicious, we had to go back for a second slice the minute we took our first bite! Challah bagels are also quite tasty. Next time I'm in the area, I will be going back to buy a dozen.

This is the best spot in town, Nino really knows how to run a business and make a good product, food is phenomenal and service is even better. Best sandwich place in the greater Richmond area, if you are near by definitely stop in.

Employees need some guidance.... I went with my mom today and absolutely loved our sandwiches! However, the overall experience was so bad I don't think well back. There was a blond employee that was so over the top loud that our experience was overall negative. She was shouting about hours, about not allowing customers to order a Philly cheesesteak that we really couldn't enjoy our food. Time to find your inside voice sweetie.

Awesome bagels, not great staff experience.. I work downtown so frequent that Cupertino's location. I've always had a great experience there, especially with the staff (they're awesome!). I was in the Glen Allen area on a Sunday and decided to stop by this location. Bagels were still as great as ever. But service was below par. When I walked up to the register the girl was receiving a back massage from another employee. A little awkward...I felt like I was interrupting something. When I went to order, the young girl just stared at me. No "hello", no "can I help you?", nothing. She was extremely monotone and obviously was NOT happy to be working there on a Sunday morning. Maybe she was having a bad day? But geez, at least fake it!

It felt like home. Originally from Central NJ, the bagels were authentic. They have that real NYC tug where it's not just bread in a circle but it has a bit of chew and tug to it for the proper texture.<br/><br/>I had the Taylor Ham, egg and cheese sandwich. It was good. If you like the authentic bagel and you're in the Richmond area; you won't be dissapointed.

Great bagels! This place has become our"go-to" weekend breakfast place for a delicious and fresh bagel.

Einsteins sucks .... I mean it this place boils their bagels which is the secret to a good bagel not the water ..as is the legend about NY bagels. For the rest of you complaining about the less than 5 star service go eat at Mcdonalds . His bagels are fine .. the only complaint is that after recently returning to the motherland I forgot how LARGE a New York , Long Island Bagel actually is . Even a regular deli had great bagels .... if only I wasn't constantly on a carb diet .. the bagel is the key to breakfast. Ps tell Boychicks to buy from him and not from a bagel sweatshop that's their only flaw ... !

The bagels are delicious. The service was terrible. My mother requested someone to wipe down the filthy table. Her request was initially ignored. When we finally got someone out there to wipe down the table the woman was full of eye rolls and a terrible attitude. Ultimately I prefer good food to good service. So I will be back, but I'll know to expect a surly attitude to go with my delicious bagel.

The food is pretty good but not worth suffering through the crappy mood of the girl making my food. my order was wrong and since they didnt get my name right my wait was even longer.

Ohhhh these bagels are delicious!. Whether you get a sandwich made in shop, or pick up a dozen to take home for brunch, these are the best bagels in town, hands down. I'm never going to another Einstein's again.

1st TIMER HERE!. Well heres the scoop, I start my work at about 4 am and my only break comes around 8:15 am and this morning i wasnt in the mood for the poor breakfast richmond has to offer. So i visited this location on cox road and man it blew my socks off! I ordered a sausage egg cheese on whole wheat, and taylor ham and cheese on plain. The flavors were simple but fantastic, the bagel sans were top notch with out a doubt! Ok so my favorite part about the place, I seriously think every one that is employed by them is from New York and of Italian descent. How can i tell besides the accents and all that? i walked in and i could see through the service window a manger teaching what i think was a newer employee, he talked to him for about 30 seconds and walked away, 30 seconds later my order is sent through, 2 minutes later my sans are out, ready, and so delicious! NORTHERN WORK ETHIC PEOPLE!! THEY ACTUALLY CARE WHAT THERE DOING! A+ to the manger A+ to my lovely cashier, A+ to the new cook and most of all.. A+ Cupertinos! amen!

Waitstaff is rude, long wait on Sunday.. Waited over 15 minutes to order and 25 minutes to get the order on a Sunday morning. When I ask the staff about my order one of the waitstaff girls yelled" hot sandwiches take longer than cold sandwiches" and we wonder why she is waitstaff??? When I ask to speak to a manager all he said was " they are overwhelmed today" Nice.

Bagel Bomb. Dear Debbie C, let me start by apologizing sincerely. I assure you this is not our regular practice, and we would not have gotten this far if it had been. My name is Walter Baietti, I am the one and only manager in our downtown location. If you or any of our customers ever feel that something is amiss please ask for me directly. Trust me when i say, I know 2 bagels is not worth a customer. I'm sorry that this happened and I hope you'll give us another try. I will address my employees tomorrow, you can be sure of that.
Debbie C
Bagel bomb. I got a dozen bagels, and two were smaller in size, hard and heavier than the rest. when I tried to exchange them the next day,I was told by the 2 girls behind the counter that they would exchange them this "one time<br/>' but that I should have brought them back the same day. I explained I had errands to run the day I got them and didn't unpack them until that afternoon when they had already closed. <br/>this is poor quality product & poor customer service. REALLY 2 bagels is worth talking to a customer like that around other customers, & not standing behind your product!!!!!!
Craig
Carytown or Fan location needed. Bagels are great. Call in orders are not always correct but I think that has more to do with the electronic order entry system - go back to pen and paper it works better! My only real complaint is the short pump location is too far from the Fan. The only option close is Jaks bagels in Carytown but those are awful! So, PLEASE open another location in the fan or carytown.

SERVICE IS AWFUL!!. This review is not on the food quality at Cupertino's but yet the staff. The location at 1215B Main Street has the worst manager; her customer service skills need to be fine tuned! The cashier was polite, the cook was also very nice; but the manager was a pitbull with lipstick! <br/><br/>I ordered a wheat bagel with egg and cheese. When my order arrived I requested a jelly pack. The cashier went to oblige with my request when the manager came by and ensured the cashier charged me for the jelly. I paid the extra for the jelly with no quams. When the manager walked by, still in my jovial mood I asked her why jelly is extra. I expressed that this is a bagel shop and jelly is a condiment, therefore it should be complimentary upon request. Her first attempt to deal with my question was lack luster. She simply stated they charged for jelly and that was that. Me being a stickler for customer service was unsatisfied with the response she gave me so I probed more; explaining jelly is a usual condiment with bagels... my tone was curious. Apparently this woman was not in the mood for my curiosity and she began raising her voice beyond a level I felt was acceptable and her tone, body language, and over all attitutude was disguisting. <br/><br/>Eventually I demanded my money back which she refused!!! I threatened to call the police and she was still not budging. When I mentioned her lacking of customer service skills and repeated the famous phrase "the customer is always right" she replied "no their not!". I then explained to her that it's her customers that keep her doors open and she should work on her attitude. She made a remark that her doors are open and she then told me to get out of her store. Of course I refused and began to call the police. <br/><br/>At that moment I composed myself (I was on a break from work) and realized my time was very limited. So I took the high road and apologized for any misunderstandings that I may have initiated but kept that her customer service skills were at an all time low. <br/><br/>This is an altercation and review that could have been totally avoided, but since the woman never truly ammended for her disguisting attitutude this is my best way to fight back! <br/><br/>As I said the food was good....but my respect and dignity are worth more. To say the least... This store, nor it's sister location will EVER see me or my money again. Of course I'm going to spread this story to anyone who will listen. I'm sick of vendors treating their customers any way they feel. I understand they have feelings and can "wake up on the wrong side of the bed" like us all; but when your business is customer facing you'd better deal with it better than she did!! I work hard for my money and am selective about where I spend it; I don't have to feel underrated, I have OPTIONS! And I opt not to go there again! This was my first and LAST visit to that store!<br/><br/>Lastly, it was told to me that this woman has gotten into altercations with other customers before. This is hearsay but I'm proned to believe it! Thanks for listening!

Real bagels, great NY deli atmosphere and this includes the owner and staff. Love it there.
Amanda
Bagels are good considering the only other bagel shops around are chains. The owner has a terrible attitude. was standing there preparing my coffee when he came up to the drink counter and as I moved my cup to get out of his way I spilled some on the counter. He replied in a rude tone "Could you fill your cup up any more?" Let out an exasperated sigh and walked away before I could reply. If you are in the food industry you should know better than to talk to a customer like that. I felt embarrassed by his blunt behavior. next time I would rather go to Einstein's where at least I will be treated like a guest. Not worth it.

The Real Deal. This place is no joke. Finally, a true Manhattan-style water bagel... right here in RVA! While I wish they would get a little more creative than simply offering the basics, but that's my only complaint. Their bagels are spot-on... by far the best in the area. You'd have to drive to Bodo's in Charlottesville for anything better.

Finally, a REAL bagel!. This is the only place in Richmond that has the right to have NY Bagels and Deli on their storefront. If you want to know what a bagel is and should be-this is the place. If you are from the north, you will appreciate and know what I mean. If you think a "chain" bagel is better, you haven't lived. And remember, bagels were meant to be eaten with stuff on them! Deli meats, lox, thick slabs of cream cheese!
Matt
Awesome. Best bagels in the Richmond area that I have had by far. If you are from the North-east and are tired of all these bagels that taste like nothing but bread with a hole in it, go here. It's the best you are going to get. And they even have taylor ham. Never going to Einstein's again.
Tim Griles
Best bagel sandwiches and very reasonable prices.
K. Sarah
AWESOME. Totally recommended. my favorite is the breakfast sandwiches. they have sausage, ham, bacon. bagels including everything, egg everything, dark pumpernickel and rye, multigrain, plain... GREAT selection of bagels. the staff is efficient and friendly. definitely a place you should try! and they have free wi-fi

Judging a New York Deli on a Richmond sandwich might not be fair (then again, it might) but if you’re going to offer this essential sandwich, it should be right, and it just wasn’t.
