My previous review mentioning problems prompted such a speedy, professional, and gracious response from The Tavern's owner that I went back. I have gone here for years and if you are not a doctor receiving luxury dinners from drug reps this casual, patio, bar, and restaurant is a terrific place to get a steak, pasta, or NC BBQ. There's spicy dishes and black pepper on the shrimp so ask about dishes. Carnivores, vegans, and gluten all will discover fun food at The Tavern.

We were staying overnight in the Richmond area while making our way down south. The Tavern was one of the restaurants recommended to us. We were not disappointed. The place was full on a Sunday night (A good sign.) and appeared to be quite popular among the locals. (Another good sign) I had a Greek salad and grilled chicken dish served over rice with fresh mozzarella and tomatoes. It was excellent. My partner had the grilled chicken sandwich with Swiss and bacon and French fries. Both were delicious. The service was friendly and accommodating and the atmosphere was vibrant without being too loud. If we’re in the area again, we would definitely return. Highly recommended.

First time at The Tavern and as we walked in, smelled delicious! I got the Oyster Po’Boy and BEST OYSTERS EVER!!!! Fries were good too! Would highly recommend to all!

Great atmosphere as we sat out on the Florida deck. Service was quick & delightful & the food was Great! I got the Oyster Po'boy & my husband got the handpattied, cooked to perfection cheeseburger, yum! Thanks for a wonderful lunch! We'll be back soon.

I am so spoiled here. The food is to die for. Whenever I come here I hear so many people rave about their food. If you haven't been there, make it your business to go. The working people there are Great! And For Goodness Sake, Complement the Cooks Especially, because They Are the Magic behind your tasting and eating experience! They are Totally Awesome! They accommodate per request and they love what they do. You can't ask for more LOVE than that. Should it be necessary to say that I recommend this place or did you pick up on that earlier in my Post? See you there!

We came in on a Monday afternoon before the 4th of July. It wasn't initially our first choice but I'm so glad we came in! The food was great and the service was EXCEPTIONAL! We sat at the bar and Jack was a wonderful host! He is very accommodating and friendly and I highly recommend you sit with him at the bar on a Friday or Monday afternoon! Will definitely be back to see him specifically. Cheers!
