Mamma Zu's - Richmond - Photo album

This Italian restaurant was a delicious hole in the wall. I loved the family style service. I highly recommend the pasta, and the squid salad. I don’t even like tiramisu and it was good. We loved these two bottles of red wine. Treana was my favorite. They take reservations for 6+ and everyone must
2017-11-16 rockfish, pasta with garlic oil, and spaghetti and meatballs were all very good. No reservations for parties less than 8 people, it's best to arrive early, so you can walk in and take a seat/table; one if the other guests told us at the door that on Fridays, there is a really long line to
Went to Mamma Zu last Thursday night for a date night. Great little spot. Classic RVA hole in the wall eatery that is often overseen by visitors. I would recommend this spot over many of the other mainstream restaurants in the area. Great food. It is a tight space but make yourself comfortable and e
If you are a foodie you need to go here. You know the negative reviews will not apply to you. You will know what to do, you will not be surprised. Go enjoy. The duck for me is my staple here in a reduced marsala and dimiglas has been the same for over 20 years, cooked to perfection. The polenta is
It is a Italian food restaurante, you can find good prices with a lot of food!
Come to mamma’Zu for amazing food and the intimate atmosphere. The word is out about this small gem of a restaurant in Richmond’s Oregon Hill neighborhood, and it is frequently overcrowded. Grab a drink at the bar and prepare for a long wait. While the food and drink is excellent, it loses a star in
This is my favorite restaurant in Richmond, despite the fact that the decor is dark, ominous, and worn. I have never had a bad meal here. Also, i would order anything off the menu. I've eaten the calf's liver and i don't like liver! It is a testament to how good they are. Also, the prices are v
I very much liked this place. I came here with my sister for a meal and wine. The place was unassuming and dark, which was what we wanted. Not a very fancy place, and it felt very intimate. I had the muscles in red sauce and highly recommend it. Thick pasta with a thin, almost watery sauce that jus
Liked the intimate, family-like atmosphere and loved the authentic Italian cuisine, especially the pasta dishes and the red sauce! Food combined with the house red wine in short glasses reminded me of Europe and made this a memorable Italian family restaurant experience in Richmond! Will definitel
Excellent pasta and fantastic cooking. The veal marsala is great. It's hard to get a reservation for a small group, and there will definitely be a wait. The staff is a bit no-nonsense but they take care of you. Definitely one of the better restaurants in the city.
If you want great Italian food this is the place. We were visiting Richmond from Columbus Ohio and stumbled upon this place. We started with a caprese salad..tomatoes were ripe and flavorful, basil was fresh and the buffalo mozzarella cheese was delicious. For our main course I had the Italian sa
This place has been closed during the pandemic but I am eager for them to open back up as I live close by and frequent it regularly. It appears they have been doing some interior work, which was much needed as it felt dark and dingy before. The food here is 5/5, I have never had a bad meal and am
The pasta here has some of the most deep and interesting flavor combinations I've ever had. You might think the price of the plates is high but good luck finishing one. The atmosphere is interesting. Kind of run down but it takes itself seriously and they keep it dark in there. Great Place for an in
This place is so deceiving!! It doesn't look the greatest from the outside, but the food is incredible. The wait staff is on point!! The food is as fresh as it comes, and the menu is very unique!! The music isnt to loud, so you can talk to each other!! Love this place
Great hole in the wall for Italian food. Spaghetti with Spicy Sausage was excellent. Sausage lived up to its name. Sauce was delicious. Veal was tender, meat lasagna was just ok. Definitely need to get there close to opening time or it's a potentially long wait.
Such a quaint place! Love the candle lit setup. The food was amazing and our server was really on point and sweet. There's a reason this place is always poppin! It's by far one of the best restaurants in Richmond hands down!
