The food and service were really good. The chili dumplings and hot & sour soup were great appetizers. The garlic chicken and the basil beefwere delicious! Definitely recommend checking this place out.

We stopped by between our Barbenheimer double-feature and enjoyed a few fun beverages alongside a phenomenal fusion feast, all within a cool, contemporary setting that we're lucky to have so close to the cinema to hit before or after a movie. Everything we ordered was remarkable, from the apps to the entrees, which had that take-home-for-later kind of immensity they were so big. Or should I say...FAT! We didn't need any popcorn for the next flick, that's for sure. I'd suggest making reservations, as even on this Wednesday night we had to wait a bit for a table. Plus, those looking for dragons more on the magic side will be pleased with CBD options on the cocktail menu. FORTUNE: "Normal is nothing more than a cycle on a washing machine."

Great experience with friendly and accommodating hostesses. When we arrived, the only available seating was a long table directly at the entrance. Asked a hostess if we could move to a more private area and she very quickly looked for a table that had people about to leave and cleaned it up for us. Really appreciate it! Ordered the beer battered mushrooms, Chef's stir fry ramen, and ancient secret BBQ pork fried rice (great menu item name). Portions were large, my photos don't do it justice. The mushrooms were great, the stir fry ramen's flavor was a bit underwhelming, and the BBQ pork fried rice had an incredible aromatic smokiness that made it my favorite of the 3.

Nice environment. Food options as well as alcohol and beer options are great. Nice crowd. Try hot n sour soup, Thai fish fillet entree, they are delicious. Only thing I didn't like is the special beer menu doesn't have price noted down, and I found out they were way too expensive compared to other beer places in Richmond. It's ok to be expensive but they could have declared the price. Otherwise all great.

While visiting Richmond we tried Fat Dragon Chinese Kitchen. The service was great. My teens loved their mocktails. Everyone loved their dish. I ordered the beef basil and wonton soup. We also ordered the shrimp fried rice with kimchi and the garlic chicken. The portions were generous sized. Our food came out incredibly quick. I was able to snag one of the 1 hour parking spots nearby. You should definitely check them out.

This place was on the restaurant week list so we gave them a try but when we got there we were told that they were not participating. Since we were already there we decided to try them anyway. Service was fast and we had our orders quickly. Food was hot and tasty. They are worth a try and definitely worth a return trip to try out some of the other menu items. The calamari was crisp and tender, the dumplings in chilli sauce were very tasty and a little spicy, and my wife had the Ramen noodle bowl and I had enter the dragon for our entrées. A lot of food and worth the money. I would recommend going to anyone.

The atmosphere of this restaurant is absolutely fantastic. The server named Kat was attentive and kind throughout the entire experience. The dish basil beef amazing it's a delight. The bang bang shrimp is filling and delectable. The atmosphere of the restaurant is amazing and the shareable rum cocktail is great.

First time trying Fat Dragon and I can honestly say I was not disappointed at all! The Crispy Chicken Rolls was so good. The Firecracker Shrimp was good, but those Asian Ribs, man probably my favorite, that bbq sauce was the perfect taste! Ribs cooked good. Will be back to try something different.

My wife and I grew up in LA and NYC respectively and with traveling the better part of the world, we have experienced some of the best Chinese food available. Fat Dragon, in Richmond, VA fits in our high upper tier of Chinese restaurants that we have thoroughly enjoyed. The quality and flavor and unbelievably creative recipes/ingredients and unpretentious atmosphere added together to make a unique and joyous meal … but the service wrapped it all together with a bow. Austin, who was our server, was so engaging that we relaxed in a full house of patrons, guided us with excellent food profiles of plates that really interested us, joked with us and delivered the different plates timed perfectly….our comment to the restaurant was “keep him no matter what .. he is a true find”

I loved the atmosphere and the food. The appetizers were great. The only reason I am giving a 4 on the food is because I didn't like the fried rice. It was more like brown rice with peas and carrots in it. I'm used to fresh made fried rice with the pork in it, onions, etc. I'd visit again and would recommend to friends.

Employees are nice. Wonton soup is amazing. Everything else I’ve tried is mediocre, the rice is very dry, spring rolls are a lot of breading, entrees are saturated with sauce, and everything is over priced. I just dropped $42 bucks on my dinner with tip and left annoyed that I didn’t enjoy anything but the wonton soup and took leftovers and actually threw them away bc the food wasn’t good and I was just getting more and more pissed I dropped that money and feel cheated. I would recommend this place for happy hour with drink specials and half off apps but if you want to sit down and eat I’d go elsewhere

Great food and cool atmosphere. Got the wonton soup, fried rice and sesame chicken and all of it was delicious. Awesome selection of drinks too with their bar!

Great place for lunch. Good atmosphere and service. The food is excellent. However, they are not always consist on how things are made. My personal favorite is the Numb Numb Beef Ramen and I order pretty often. It is never quite the same each time. It still tastes great though. Check this place out. Parking my be an issue so go early.

Great food, great decor, and a great server! Jordan made for an enjoyable evening. Food was creative with bold flavors. Drinks from the bar were awesome. Can't wait to head back.

Filthy. The staff and premises seem unsuitable to serve food for human consumption. I ordered fried rice that was barely warmed through and tasted of freezer burn. My order was delivered to the wrong table. My server had no idea what was on the menu, "coz he's kinda new"

Salt Dragon!!!! We both ordered the tofu dish. They warned us it was spicy, but the burn came from the salt.

Great Experience!. I ate the calamari and vegetables.I loved it. My friends also all loved the food. Wonderful and fresh! I can't say enough good things about our waiter, James. He took care of all 16 of us. Best service I have ever had anywhere. This is a Debbie favorite now.

A New Gluten-Free Favorite!. Just like the other reviewer, I literally opened an account just to rave about this new gem. I had the Basil Beef and it was by far one of the best Chinese dishes I have ever had. My husband had the Asian Rib Rack - I think they could have easily fed a table of four and tasted delicious. The two other people we dined with also loved their meals. It was one of those experiences where you look around the restaurant at everyone else's dishes and want to try them all! Gluten-free options were clearly marked, allowing me to avoid awkward conversations with the waiter in front of friends (if you are Celiac you know exactly what I mean).

The ambiance is fabulous. The space is covered in re-claimed wood and exposed brick. It's fun, but you never get the feeling they are trying to be hip. We went around 7pm on a Saturday - it was full, but we lucked out and did not need to wait. LOVE this place and can't wait to return!

Really cool place...bartenders are GREAT and have an awesome beer selection... Crispy Chicken Rolls (appetizer) were very great with minimal fry but wonderful crisp taste...

Decent, not amazing. I was really looking forward to the prospect of a new chinese spot--not take-out--in Richmond. This city really needs a stronger asian cuisine presence! A friend and I met there on a Wednesday night for dinner.

We got a few different courses...I ordered the Chili Dumplings and the BBQ Pork Fried Rice, she got the Bacon + Shrimp Lo Mein and a side of bok choy. The dumplings were good--spicy and well done. Both of our entrees were good, but nothing to write home about. They pleased but didn't wow my tastebuds...and the bok choy was good, not overcooked, but again, could have had stronger flavor. We then decided to split one of the desserts that they had that night--the chocolate truffle cake. The cake was awesome! Very rich but good for sharing.

So, overall, fine experience, but I won't be adding Fat Dragon to my Richmond go-to restaurants. Going to try Peter Chang's for chinese next.

LOVE IT. I literally made an account to rave about this place. I have been trying all these cute and cool fan restaurants, but this is by far my favorite. The food is way better than PF Chang's and cheaper, the atmosphere is cooler, and the service was great.

I had the Basil Beef and it was to die for. Their Firecracker Shrimp appetizer is what I will be coming back for. The sauce was so flavorful and tangy, it's a must get. There was no wait for us- we went on a Wednesday night around 8 or so, but the staff was knowledgable about the menu and helped us find a beer we would like.

If it was socially acceptable, I'd go back tonight.

Cool place good food, long wait though. I am a huge fan of Osaka, so when I heard that the same company opened a Chinese restaurant, i was very excited to try it.

Fat Dragon is one of a growing list of Scott's Addition restaurants that are opening up in the area. The restaurant itself is a great space. I really like the large bar and ample room while you wait for your table. (And wait you will, especially on weekends. Our wait for a table of 4 was over 45 minutes. I would like for them to rethink the reservation policy which only takes reservations for 6 or more.)

As far as the food and service, both were excellent. four of us shared our entrees and all of them were excellent. The “Chicken and Rice” Noodles and the Basil Beef were particularly good.

Went on a first date here. Atmosphere was very modern and overall, the restaurant had a cool vibe. Waitstaff was very attentive and prompt. Had the Crispy Chicken Rolls as an appetizer and the Garlic Chicken as an entree, an the food was amazing. Highly recommend!

Excellent addition to Scott's Addition. Chris (the owner) hit another one out of the park. I believe Chris owns the Blue Goat, Osaka, Wild Ginger, and Sushi O. Fat Dragon fits into his collection of restaurants very well--very good food, reasonable prices, awesome drinks, and modern decor.

Fat Dragon's food was fantastic. We shared a couple of dishes: the Crispy Chicken Rolls were tasty and displayed very well. The Firecracker shrimp were very good. I I think I prefer the Bang Bang Shrimp from Bonefish Grill, but these are close and I much rather give my money over to a locally owned nearby restaurant. We shared the entree--the Fei-Lone Beef. This was extremely good. The beef was very tender and could be pulled apart with chopsticks--it was like eating filet mignon. The sauce it was in was spicy, but not too spicy even though our server made it sound like our mouths were going to become an inferno. The beef was served a bed of spinach and we received a side of white rice that came with it.

Two very small negatives. First, we ordered a soup but never received it. Since we had to plenty to eat, and we weren't charged for it, we let it slide. And second, we were very glad we checked our bill. Our bill included our orders but also the entire order for our adjacent table. If we had not be careful, we would have spent an extra $40.

The food was enjoyable, veryone was nice, the place was packed, the music was good, and the decor modern and fun. Oh, and they have 24 beers on tap--awesome!

My wife and I were actually the first lunch guests at Fat Dragon (Jan 2013) on Boulevard the day they opened for lunch. The staff were obviously ready for us and the rest of the crowd that followed. The menu has changed considerably since then
The lunch menu at that time was limited as compared to the dinner menu or the current menu on the site. we went with some crispy spring rolls
