The building is historic, it oozes charm and elegance. The food is incredible. The cocktails are great and even if some aren't quite great they are at least inventive. I tried a "Peanut Butter Old Fashioned" tonight, I'm not sure why it worked, but it did. The wait staff were super professional and did amazing. Parking is really the only tricky part, but it is worth the effort.
Everything was simply amazing. I splurged this evening and my wife and I enjoyed cocktails, appetizers, main course and even desert! Nothing disappointed. The drinks were very creative as well as delicious. The food was perfectly prepared and presented, and the flavors were simply amazing. Our waitress, Becka, was a sweetie and very knowledgeable about the food we were ordering as well as the drinks. The MOST amazing part of our dining experience here was the atmosphere though! Three floors with an atrium in the center and a working exposed lift if you don't want to take the stairs! The Tobacco Company Restaurant is definitely the best dining experience I have ever had in my 56 years!
Stopped by the day after xmas, had a couple of cocktails at bar and then dinner upstairs. The seasonal cocktails were creative and pleasing. Our server, Becca, was awesome. Food was on point.....everyone enjoyed their entrees........yummy butter cake dessert.
We arrived 1 hour 10 min before they close( during the week) and they told us that the kitchen closes at 9 and we were not able to sit upstairs so come earlier if you really want to enjoy the place!
We were super hurried to order food, but it arrived fast and was delicious.
I only wish I could sit upstairs and get more of a view from the place bc it is pretty!
The decor of this restaurant doesn’t disappoint!!! So much character! So pretty !
The drinks were on point. The food was almost on point . The crab soup was so full of flavor. Lots of crabmeat in it. It was Nice and hot!!! I love when the soup comes out hot!! The Ahi Tuna was yummy!!! We ordered the pork chop which came out hot and delicious!!! The mashed potatoes were warm at best! We ordered a chocolate mousse cake that came out so hard we couldn’t cut it with a spoon or fork. We were disappointed we had to send it back. Our poor sweet bartender had a glass fall and shatter all I we the counter we were sitting at , the manager came out and took care of our liquor bill .
Over all , I would highly recommend!!!! We definitely will give this restaurant a second chance the next time we are in Richmond.
Party of 4. Atmosphere was wonderful, service was exceptional. Food was a mix. The she crab soup was terrible. There was hardly any crab and didn’t really taste like anything. I could tell from the texture there was a lot of cornstarch in it.
The entrees were very good. The desserts were delicious. We will go again.
Whenever I'm in Richmond The Tobacco Company is a must. This place is a treat. Good food, great service and the atmosphere is so cozy. The icing on the cake is the live band. All have been phenomenal that I've heard. I highly recommend for special occasions, date night, girls night out or drinks at the bar with music. They can meet any occasion. No need to search any further, just go!!
Wow! I'm sure there is nothing left unsaid about this place. I was in Richmond for my bachelorette getaway, and many people suggested this restaurant for dinner. I'm glad they did! Everything that we tried was amazing. The fried oysters appetizer, chicken, whipped potatoes, meatloaf, pasta, greens.. all were well prepared. They served mostly American cuisine but it's over-the-top. Worth every penny. The ambiance was nice and the staff were very pleasant from beginning to end. Thank you for making my night complete.
Really a great atmosphere in a building with a lot of history. Loved the overall esthetic, especially the lighting and chandeliers. The restaurant was very busy and the food and service was decent.
My husband and I ate here for our anniversary dinner, and it was amazing! The building itself is so beautiful and makes for a perfect date spot. We had the company chicken and salmon, so yummy. Great service, Josh was so kind! We will be back when we’re in the area again.
Extravagant! The whole experience we had was fantastic here. Food was delicious, atmosphere of multiple floors of decorated, plant-filled scenes was pleasant to view, and the service was informative, polite & not too intrusive with checking in. We would definitely come back for more!
It’s a gorgeous place with an amazing vintage vibe. The food was decent and service was really good. We ordered a few things- calamari, burrata salad, halibut, chicken, and crab cake. I tried the burrata, halibut and chicken. Burrata was good except for the soggy toasts - I expected them to be crispier. Chicken and halibut were were delicious! Also had the butter cake was delicious! Would highly recommend their margarita!!!
The food was so good, we had mock-tails and the black and blue. The steak was cooked and seasoned perfectly.
The booths were a little hard to get in and out of, so maybe ask for a table instead.
Food, service and atmosphere were terrific. Excellent for a group of 8. Prime Rib and Company Chicken were perfect. Sides were delicious. Other members of our party were pleased as well.
Few restaurants have atmosphere like this one. It is impressive normally, but they go all out with tasteful Christmas decorating. The food and service is spectacular, but you really need a reservation. They have live background music in the evening. In spite of there being so many people, our party of 6 felt very comfortable and received excellent service. Street parking is difficult, but there is a parking lot next door. Both their beef and seafood dishes were delicious.
On a Saturday night, had dinner upstairs and then sat at the bar downstairs to listen to a great band playing covers. This is probably my new favorite restaurant! If I could give the atmosphere 10 stars, I would. The lighting was perfect, the exposed brick and wooden framing, the three floors all arranged around a large open space, the giant urns with perfectly arranged greenery, the open iron-decorated elevator, the lamp on the host's desk...could not have been more romantic. The food (calamari, bread, she-crab soup, arugula salad) was amazing. The waitress was delightful and attentive.
The bar was also a very pleasing atmosphere with a glowing bar top. Here the bartenders were inexperienced and our drinks were not very good (gin and tonic provided without a lime, margarita mix, too much ice in both) but the atmosphere more than made up for it.
I love this place. Not cheap but so worth it!
Wonderful experience for a nice dinner with my out of town mom. Delicious food and the ambiance is nothing but spectacular. A little pricey but completely worth it to get a historical fine dining experience in downtown Richmond.
The food was incredible... We both loved our food! Our waiter Elliott was even more fantastic. He was so personable, kind & helpful. TC is lucky to have him & he made it the perfect place to celebrate our 2nd Anniversary!
The reason for not giving 5*'s is it was so crowded & the tables were packed so tight that you could barely fit at your table. Also, while the food was delicious, b/w the portion sizes & prices, it's making it less appealing.
