The Hickory

I had very high expectations about this place. The food had good flavor, but I was surprised the BBQ meat was just barely warm, almost room temperature. This makes me think they just have the meat on warmers and it may be sitting around for awhile. The turkey was surprisingly very flavorful. The sautéed corn was not good at all. The bake beans were tasty. We ordered the family platter to try all the meats. The menu says it feeds 4-6 people, but in reality it would only feed three. Not my first choice for good BBQ.

Ordered a fish n chips variation, and the three cod pieces were maybe 4 inches long at best and not really warm at all. Also got a side of ribs, waitress told me they'd be about 5 bucks of an upcharge for a pound, which i felt was pretty good. Came out as 3-4 inch baby back ribs, i got maybe 4 (one was an end piece of sorts and had hardly any meat on it). They were also not warm at all. Check came out and it was actually 8 dollars for those teeny little morsels of ribs, asked the server why it was 8 instead of 5, said she couldn't find a way to put it in correctly so just did that instead...? Pretty annoyed that wasn't discussed with us, however she was able to take it back down to 5. Got nachos as well and those were horrid. Nacho cheese or queso was almost like a porridge in texture. Also used the end crumblies of a bag of chips as the nacho base, instead of opening a new bag. I'll add a photo of what it looked like. Just disgusting, notified server of little crumbling pieces of what was supposed to be actual chips, she came back with a little side of chips for us to dip into the crumble mess 🤦 Overall not impressed, i don't think I'll ever be back here. Every time we told server of something like the chip crumblies instead of actual chips in the nachos or the food being cold, she didn't really offer a solution or even a discount, it just blew my mind. If you are going to charge higher prices but not have at least decent quality food, you're not worth my time.

I enjoyed this place. I came in on a weekday around 3pm and the place was not busy at all. I really liked their menu due to the large selection and lots of unique entrees offered. I got the Frankenstein Burger with a side of slaw. I’d like to come back again if I’m ever in the area for dinner. Great food! 🍔

What a delicious place to go with your family! We go here with our large groups (with reservation) every time we have an event nearby! It is delicious, has so many options, and gets a recommendation from me everytime I can talk about it! I don't think it's fair to compare this establishment to Texas Roadhouse as so many do, not because I think Texas Roadhouse is bad or irreparable, but this is much much better than that. There is a homegrown, comfortable, happy feeling when you are here! Your waiters make you feel welcome and listened to, they always give amazing recommendations and help to those who need it! They are on top of refilling drinks and serving large groups and small alike! I love getting any of their steaks and they're little potatoes are beyond delicious!!! Always try a new lemonade when you have the chance because they are all good! I wish I could express how quality this restaurant is because it can seem unassuming but I would go here over any other restaurant any day! I would consider this a "fancier" place to eat since they have such quality food, but don't feel the need to come dressed in your Sunday best! Everyone feels like family here and it's a cozy comfortable atmosphere to be a part of! The shockingly good food is just a bonus!

This restaurant is very clean and well organized. The seating is somewhat uncomfortable some chairs are little metal barn chairs while others are park benches with no back There are some cushioned booths, but overall fairly uncomfortable. One thing thats really cool about this place is you can get a $10 hamburger with fries which seems very reasonable for a barbecue pit. The menu offers a variety of steaks, ribs, pulled pork sandwiches, sausages, brisket and just about everything else you could expect from a barbecue pit. We ordered the family platter which included all kinds of meats like turkey, sausage, brisket, pulled pork, ribs et cetera . With this plate came 6 sides that you could choose from; we chose the baked green beans with bacon, loaded baked potato, little baked potatoes with seasoning , sweet potato fries, steak fries and coleslaw. The food came out within five minutes and it only took a few bites to understand why. All of the potato products were hard and leathery. The turkey and the ribs (smallest ribs Ive ever seen) were dry and the ribs were dried to a crisp. The pulled pork was decent. It had a nice flavor and was moist and tender. The brisket was fairly good, it was on the dry side but had a nice flavor, but brisket should be the star of the barbque and it was just average. Finally, the Spicy barbque sauce is excellent and did make some of the food better, but my god what a below average establishment. Whomever the pit master is better get down there and figure out how to stop serving such leathery fries and dried out meat. Amy fast food restaurant csn make fries 10x better. It was a significant disappointment overall. Next time I will order the hamburger and save 50 bucks. (Btw I never send food back, not in this day and age.)

I come here a lot and normally always sing their praises about their 16 oz ribeye and their mac and cheese. I get the steak cooked rare every time and always with a side of mac. Tonight our mac and cheese was very very dry, it normally comes super creamy. And my steak that I ordered rare came out medium. I just asked them to recook it and to box it up for me to take home. Got home and literally ripped it apart looking for any part of it that was rare. As you can tell, there is barely any pink. I should have taken a picture of the steak before I ripped it up and you would’ve seen that it looked like someone had ordered a medium well. Will not be going back. This has happened to my roommates and I the past 2 times we’ve gone here. 2 stars because the waitress was super kind and attentive even though they were packed.

This was a odd experience. Food not being the issue. Our only issue here was our wait time. We had around a 20 minute wait to be seated ( our greeter commenting that she needed to find someone reliable to wait on us ) and then a considerable wait for our food to arrive. ( More than normal ) Even the out of town guests we had brought along commented. I noticed that there were only a few people waiting on tables , much less than normal and everyone seemed very rushed and frankly they looked exhausted. It was not that crowded but there were several tables that were still needing to be cleared. I'm not sure what was going on but someone from the back kept coming out having little talks with the folks working which was keeping them from getting things done. We have been here before and knew what to expect. This experience was rather odd for the time of day which was around 1245pm. As always however, the food was yummy and delicious! We really like this place and will be back but sincerely hope it's not going the way of so many other of our favorite places. Try the traditional dry rubbed pork BBQ, it's heaven !
