Not Your Average Joe's

On a business trip and decided to go to this place as it was near my hotel. I ate with 2 colleagues and Cesar was our server. Food was good. Drinks were a bit pricey but they had a very large selection. I could not decide between a couple of entrees so I took Cesar's recommendation of the BBQ meatloaf and I was not disappointed. See picture...would definitely come back here again when I am in the area.

My waiter’s English was subpar but I also understand that restaurants are desperate to hire so, okay. Manager stopped by and hooked me up with a drink. They are doing what they can with what they have to work with and I am in the same boat as a small business owner. Americans need to get back to work and the cheap labor needs to be busing tables, cleaning floors and washing dishes. If you have an English speaking customer base and a Spanish speaking staff… You have a recipe for disaster.

They have really tasty food here, but it's little on the pricy side, so plan accordingly. They have a large menu that's varying in its options, so they offer something for everyone. It's a large restaurant with a decent bar area. I've dined in the restaurant (outside, actually) and ordered for delivering. The service was a bit slow outside, so that was disappointing, but the food quality, both eating inside or delivered, was the same - great. Plus, what a cool arrangement for their outdoor seating to wrap around part of the building and such a fantastic location at the corner of Reston Dvwy. and New Dominion Dvwy., right in Reston Town Center. On a nice day, sitting outside is a pleasant experience, especially because there's usually a nice breeze that passes through the corridor.

First visit today President's Day 2023. I was blown away by the atmosphere along with the look of this place. It leaves a little to be desired outside but is beautifully warm on the inside. We came for Lunch just after 12:30 of course it was a holiday but the restaurant was about half full and we were quickly sat. Our Waitress "Sierra" was super friendly. We didn't order a large meal but the GF got kid's chicken fingers with a side of Broccoli and I got their Appetizer of Sheet Pan Nachos. Again I cannot stress to you how very lovely it is inside of this place. It's super warm and inviting but still feels familiar. Once our food arrived it was love at first crunch for me. My Sheet Pan Nachos were perfect. I asked to have the Pico de Gallo and the Jalapeños removed and instead replaced with diced tomatoes and black olives. Sierra said it was no problem. So the Nachos have fresh, cooked today chips, shredded lettuce, melted cheese(not sauce), shredded seasoned mild chicken, my added diced tomatoes with authentic black olives and their Chipotle sauce drizzled on top. The chips were crunchy and easily broke in your mouth, hardly any of the chips loosened no matter how many toppings they had on it. Each chip, had for me the perfect blend of everything and I wasn't even able to finish my plate. The GF's Chicken Tenders were crispy on the outside and moist inside, her steamed broccoli glistened from the butter spray on it, and it was truly green and vibrant I asked Sierra to speak to the Manager to congratulate him and their staff on what a marvelous establishment this was. He told me everything is made from scratch this includes their brick oven pizza which is front and center when you come into the restaurant. The only thing that stopped me from giving it 5 Stars was that they charged my GF $5 for her small side of Broccoli even though her kid's meal came with a side but it was shown as canceled on the receipt and then re-added $5 side of Broccoli which made her meal cost $13-$14, which in my opinion is ridiculous. I didn't however speak to the Manager but may call. Our waitress lead us to believe that the Broccoli was included. Lastly they don't serve Sweet Tea. They have unsweetened that I could add sugar too according to our waitress. I know we're way up north here by DC but we're still in VA and Virginian's need their sweet tea. We will definitely have to come back

Such a great lunch with my Godfather! NYAJ - regardless of which location I visit- always has the friendliest staff and an easy, straightforward menu that has something delicious for everyone! I appreciate Chef Bryan’s efforts to add a few vegan/ vegetarian options to the Menu that do not disappoint! The “Veggie Special” Wrap I ordered was downright delectable! Fries were crisped to perfection. Thank you Chef! :) My Godfather got the Burger- he mentioned the caramelized onions as the ideal rendering for a Not so Average (way better than Average!) Burger! The Steak special posted in this Review is from this outing- but it is a NYAJ special so scrumptious I had to add to this review! Go get this tonight if you want to be wowed without getting whip lash from an enormous bill at the end of the meal! Service was easygoing and accommodating, per usual. Best part of Joes bar? Drinks are executed with superior consistency. Which is a commodity in and of itself! Big thanks to the Staff for having mastered that! Will I be back? The staff knows they can’t get rid of me- no need to ask! Thank you to everyone at the Reston location - had a fantastic time!
