This play has been our fave coffee shop ever here in Reno , NV . They have excellent taste esp. the lattes that they have and have excellent barristas (I mostly know all of them ) . Kudos to alex , and DJ for making good coffee and other staffs as well! When we say it’s good coffee, it’s good! (Been going to diff coffee shops in diff states )

This is my favorite espresso spot in all of Reno and I have been to all of them. The people are incredibly friendly and welcoming and non-pretentious. If you like good music and a warm environment and the great smell of waffles you have to come into Old World coffee lab.

I ordered a Vanilla Lavender Latte over 10 minutes ago paid in cash and gave a tip. Six people came in behind me…they have ALL been served and seem to be enjoying their coffees. I am completely disappointed and dissatisfied with this place. Wondering why? The girl who took my order looked straight at me a couple of times. 🤔 I ’ll make sure to let others know how I was completely ignored/forgotten. If I could give negative stars I really would. I would rather be at one of the big corporations and be enjoying my coffee instead of here…trying to support local. I will find a better place to go. I did get a full refund including the tip…I guess there’s that.

Nice espresso served with sparking water. Modern ambiance that feels a little on the low-budget side. Not the comfiest spot to sit and read, but friendly staff and plenty of seats. When I was there I saw a few people sitting around chatting with friends, a few working on laptops.

Decent coffee, but... the guys were rude, sarcastic. When I asked for a menu, they picked up a board and set it down again. I confused this place a different coffee shop that has a better staff and I do regret that. Would have much rather spent my money elsewhere.

Found the atmosphere a bit cold and coffee a little bitter (4/5 Green Stars) Old world coffee on California St. is very much coffee focused – there were two lemon bars and some mini cinnamon rolls at the counter. But they also partner with Full Belly Deli, next door, to bring breakfast burritos and wraps, etc. I had a Gibraltar and it wasn't as enjoyable as the one from Coffeebar – it had a bitterness that required extra sugar to make it drinkable for me. It was also pricey – $4.75 for my Gibraltar, including a 75 cent charge for the small amount of oat milk. The atmosphere was okay – there were a few people working inside and outside but it felt a bit cold overall. I think it needs a bit of work to make it welcoming and cosy and to soften their hipster vibe. I’m also giving Old world coffee 4/5 Green Stars for social and environmental impact for the following reasons: • Many of their coffees are sourced from farms or co-ops that are doing good things for their workers and local communities (you have to go to their website to read these stories as the coffee packaging doesn’t provide much useful info). • Some of their beans are organic, while others lack information on sustainability (shade, agriculture, etc.). • The coffee packaging itself is a bit excessive (for only 8 ounces of beans) and not-compostable. • The 75 cent charge for choosing more sustainable plant-based milks is excessive. Especially for the small amount of milk required in drinks like their Gibraltar.

Local coffee shop at its finest. From the specialty espresso machines to the single origin coffee beans, this place embraces what a genuine coffee shop is. My matcha latte and my fiancé’s chai were awesome. Made with whole milk and lots of love. Nothing is too pricey, but it’s not the cheapest coffee bar I’ve been too either. Overall, absolutely worth what you pay. There’s also plenty of seating and good light to get work done. I’ll be back with my stuff soon.

Old World Coffee is a solid contender in the emerging Reno third wave coffee scene. Located on trendy California street, steps from the main drag of Midtown, it offers excellent coffee and a clean atmosphere to study, relax, and sip on your joe. OWC roasts their own beans at a separate location and you can purchase all their offerings in store. The baristas know their stuff and make a consistent pour, a hallmark of any legitimate third wave spot. Along with the coffee essentials, they have a small offering of baked goods sourced from a local bakery called Butter & Salt. The price for a standard latte is $4.50, slightly higher than other places in town, but still in a similar price range. The interior design is clean and modern with wood accents to add a bit of warmth. There are several tables and ample space to spread out and not be distracted by other patrons; great for individual or group work. They have decent WiFi (tested 20 down / 5 up) and upbeat background music. It's a place that screams productivity, where you can clear your mind and get stuff done. It doesn't, however, have big comfortable couches to relax on, so don't expect a winter lodge vibe. Old World Coffee is a great place for coffee enthusiasts, for sure I'll be returning.
