I stumbled upon this place on accident . After living in China for 17 and a half years and being out of the US for 25, I've had difficulties finding generally good Chinese food in Reno. There's a place in Carson City I'd like to go, but I think this is hands down the best in Reno for out there in Chinese food and friendly staff. Only downside is it's pretty expensive and I imagine for my family of five it would be nearly about $300 to eat. Great genuine food, but a little bit expensive in difficult times.
I never expected to find such authentic szechuan cuisine in Reno, Nevada - but that’s exactly what we got here at The Wok Chinese Cuisine.
If you’re truly looking for authentic chinese food, I highly recommend checking it out, but don’t be deceived by the generic name or the classic American Chinese Takeout items on the first few pages of the menu (which I’m sure also taste great if you’re craving it - which sometimes I am). But if you’re looking for a genuine szechuan dinner (numbing spice and all) SKIP STRAIGHT TO THE LAST PAGE; I guarantee you won’t be disappointed.
What we got:
- Garlic cucumber: super garlicky, and lips definitely started to feel that iconic numbing
- Szechuan twice-cooked pork: big portions, mild spice, really great black bean sauce
- Boiled fish with pickled veggies: we got it medium spicy which was perfect if you don’t want it overwhelmingly hot, and there was loads of white pepper flavour (my favourite)
Haven't been here in a long time but glad we were able to have lunch. The Wok is our go to fav Chinese restaurant whenever we are in Reno. We ordered from the lunch menu. Most of the lunch combos were priced @$12.95 and comes with choice of main dish, rice or chow main, soup, egg roll and cream cheese wanton. A lot of delicious food priced right!

Being part of the top 5% of local reviewers i have to say that the Wok has to be one of the most amazing tasty Chinese food, i have tasted in a very long time, the chow-mein was spot on with a hint of garlic, the pho's broth was spot on, now the service was stellar thanks to Janet, she was outstanding, if your in the 775 this is a must visit for more follow on Instagram @fortheloveoffood775
Definitely the best Chinese food I've been to, I recommend everyone to try you won't be disappointed. I will always come back for sure.

I have lived here for 55 years and always trying different local restaurants, The Wok is a 5 on my Chinese restaurants and will eat there again soon. I cal l ed in a fairly big order as I try a bit of everything when I go. Rice, chow mein, generals chicken and sweet and sour pork was delicious. The staff was friendly, and it was 530 on a Friday night. I will be back!
