Great Mexican restaurant. The food was fresh, the prices were reasonable without burning a hole in the wallet, and the service was outstanding. Definitely would recommend this place to those new in town.
Great Food and atmosphere. I took my son there after boot camp for that special evening. WOW! So many disappointments in the past at other restaurants, but Bertha never skipped a step. Fantastic!
Mole' Mole' Mole'!!!. I recently went to Bertha Miranda's for the first time, and it was excellent! I don't know if it is a hit-or-miss kind of place, but my experience was almost exactly the opposite of all of the other reviews. Part of that might be because I am a bit of a tequila snob. I started with the margarita, after the waiter assured me that the house tequila was 100% agave. It tasted suspiciously like Cuervo Gold to me, which is nothing but fermented sugar water, and the farthest thing from 100% agave. I will never know, because I will only order the top-shelf from now on.
The chips were fresh and crunchy, but the salsa was just okay. So I ordered a side of guacamole to go along with the chips, and it was one of the best I have ever had! I had just had the guacamole at Beto's a few days earlier, which could not hold a candle to Bertha Miranda's guac.
For my main course, I had the Chicken Mole. It was fantastic, but be careful because the entrees are served VERY HOT (temperature). The chicken was so tender, it just flaked apart when I tried to stab it with my fork. The mole sauce was delicious, and the tortillas, beans, and rice were all very fresh and tasty. I will definitely return to Bertha Mirandas soon.
Fun, cool place. I like the Margaritas on the rocks with a salt rim! I really don't know if it's some Sysco brand "Margarita Mix" or if it's a family pre-mix (my money is on the first) but they still get the job done. If it's a splurge night, get a pitcher and save a few bucks. I prefer other Mexican restaurants for the food but Bertha's is really pretty good as well. You probably won't be disappointed. The only item on the menu I truly didn't enjoy was the veggie burrito because it has cauliflower and other veggies that seemed soggy and frankly quite strange to my pallet.
I also like to get the fried ice cream. Because that's what drunk fatties do.
Yummy Mexican food.... My aunt took my brother and I here because she says it's the best Mexican food in Reno (she's been there for 40+ years). The salsa for the chips was delicious and smooth. I had the chicken mole: the sauce was rich and flavorful.
Awesome!. My favorite place for Mexican food in town. The margaritas really are THE BOMB! Not exagerrating! Definitely worth trying out.
I ate here 2 nights in a row. The food was excellent as wad the service. Beware of the margarita's, they are amazing!
