Maxwell's Downtown Eatery

Maxwell's is the best restaurant in Redding. I've been to them all. This is a true statement. Great food, especially pizzas, wraps, and burgers. They are the premier deep fryer operators north of the equator. The deep fried jalapenos, pickle chips and artichoke hearts are art. Excellent beer selection and rotating taps that keep it interesting. They've started serving social cocktails. If you eat elsewhere you've made a mistake.

Five Star beer menu, one star attitude. I want to love this place. Unfortunately, my several experiences range from meh to actually negative, with the latter directly involving the owner. That's probably the reason this place feels unfriendly to me versus being a home away from home. Good Tuesday burger deal. Great pesto fries.

Service staff for out party today was excellent! I was equally impressed that he was bartending and serving at the same time. Never once noticed he was struggling with it if he was. It was seamless. We even had multiple split checks and he did wonderful and no issues there either. I was however disappointed in my food. I got a burger and it was pretty dry, thin and just generally not good. It said avocado but it was more like an Ava ado spread or mashed avocado. I didn’t complain. I probably should’ve had pizza or a salad. The rest of the ladies in my party loved their salads. I’ve heard awesome things about the pizza too. I’m giving 3/5 stars because I will try again and edit this review accordingly and like I said the others loved their salads & service was great.
