Open the doors to the restaurant and you're greeted by a friendly host! The downstairs area is really nice with comfortable seating. I ordered the vegetarian ramen with extra noodles and it was a delicious, filling meal. I especially love the herb butter and the toppings on this bowl. Upstairs, the Izakaya has a beautiful bar, exposed ceilings, and big windows looking out onto Wilmington Street below. I tried the vegetarian buns, which was probably my favorite dish of the night. Great balance of texture and flavors. I also tried the Life's a Beach cocktail- loved the coconutty flavor! The apple bourbon slushie was good and reminiscent of an apple pie. My favorite slushie was the yuzu ginger pineapple, so good! The staff were friendly and attentive. There's a lot of love put into this restaurant and I cannot wait for my next visit!!

I was greeted by a sweet, kind, polite, punctual host/server named Sarah. The menu was easy to look over for food. The only thing I had an issue with was that they didn’t have a ready option for people that are allergic to shellfish, BUT! When I explained I was allergic the kitchen staff immediately made a new pot to make fresh noodles in! I love that they have shochu! It’s one of the only places in Raleigh I can find it! Will definitely be back!!

Food was delish. Tonkatsu Ramen has a phenomenal broth. The dumplings could have been steamed a little longer, and the pork was light on substance, but the overall package was satisfying. The Tuna Poke bowl was a big hit with my dinner partner. Service was slow, but this due to there being only one server for the whole lower floor. The seats are rock hard. Overall atmosphere is chill. Recommend.

Went on a less busy late Sunday evening. Parking is limited, so walked a block. At this moment parking is free on weekends in certain areas in down for certain time periods. We didn't have to wait. Server promptly showed our table and brought the water. I saw the menu QR code on the napkin holder, my suggestion is to have few paper copies too, as their are older people and non tech savvy people too present sometimes in the clientele, which was actually very diverse as per my observation. Not a frilly and fancy place, with couple of interesting art pieces and hand written menu, which is actually a delight. Our server Anna was very efficient and polite and super busy. The drink was average, poured from readymade jars with least imagination of combinations possible. Sweet tea is unavailable, which is pretty common in South and can be store bought too like their other drinks. The food came and it was so deliocious. I like the range of their vegetarian/vegan options and I think they are willing to customize a bit too, if not too tedious. We had a sweet corn and a Tuna dish....loved the taste, presentation and their peculiar dishes. Amount was just okay, not the leftovers kind. For a pretty non descript place this is a must visit spot for foodies and fans of healthy options.

Took my wife here on a date night to give it a try. The server was great, drinks came out fast! We ordered the life’s a beach drinks which was very good almost like an elevated pina colada. We ordered several things to try but have to say the best thing we had out of everything was the spicy miso wings. Those may have been one of the best wings I’ve had in a while. The other food was good but I expected a little better for over $100 bill. Definitely worth going here though and everything was still good. Water stays on your table so you don’t have to ever worry about a refill. Very fast service. Only giving it a 4 out of 5 since the wings were my favorite out of all the things we tried, great place though and cool atmosphere!

My first time visiting Tonbo and it was soooo good. I ordered the Shoyu Ramen with the chili bomb on the side. I added half of the chili bomb, a couple of splashes of the chili oil and chili seasoning (in the table caddy) and it was perfect. I pretty much finished the whole thing and I usually end up bringing back half of any ramen I have anywhere else. There are a good amount of items that come in the bowl too. I will absolutely be coming back to this spot, why haven’t I been sooner? I don’t know. So good!

Recommend reservations as the location is a small and intimate setting. It allows for great conversations with your party. Food was delicious…can’t say enough about that! However, what really set this place apart was the staff. Even though they were busy, we always felt taken care of. We had never tried sake, so we were given a bit of an education and suggestions. We enjoyed it all!

Cozy little place. We didn’t order ramen, but what we had were good (just some dumplings, chicken, and katsudon rice bowl) Loved our drinks 🍹(lychee mosa & strawberry mosa)

So good! It’s a little hole in the wall but there were other diners plus a steady stream of take out orders while we ate. The ramen was delicious and very generous with the toppings. Super quick and good service. I will come back!

We're 6 weeks into this trip and I really needed some ramen therapy... so scoured Maps and Tonbo had the best reviews and ramen options... but it was an hour drive each way from our camp site. Really glad I pushed for ramen... Tonbo is LEGIT! We started with the Karagi chicken and ramen cheese bites. I preferred the Karagi, but both were great. My tonkatsu ramen was AMAZING! Totally hit the spot for the much needed ramen therapy! My wife got the Gohan bowl, which looked really good and the pulled pork was awesome. We both left very happy with our dinners and service was great too! Highly recommend! 🤩

Food was quick, Service was great and atmosphere was so nice!! We are upstairs and it had a beautiful view. Only thing I didn't like was I got the duck and replaced the duck with Pork and was charged for both meats.
