The Chili was great and so was the Hamburger Steak Platter. Definitely will stop by again everytime I'm near here (I live in VA). Amy is one of the best servers!
Barry's is really more of a diner than a cafe. I do really like the atmosphere with the bar with stools. They are also a great advocate for firefighters who help guard human lives from fire. On the strength of their GF menu, Barry's gets more points. Overall, the food is good but not spectacular. My friend who has celiac disease said his pancakes were good though they looked a little burned. My breakfast burrito was good so I was satisfied. Will likely be back with my GF friends, but not my first choice.
This place was a rare find. Love the firefighter decor. Laid back, old school diner atmosphere. Friendly, attentive servers and delicious food. I personally wanted to try everything on the menu. It was so hard to decide since they had so many delectable choices. I highly recommend this place!
Great local spot with amazing hot dogs. The chili had such great flavor and the dog was hot when I started eating it. One of the best take out dogs. So many are barely warm when you get them to where you're going but Barry's was perfect.
My family and I went there for the 1st time. The food was excellent! The service was great! We love, love it here!
Stopped by in July for a to go breakfast. This is a unique diner cafe featuring all sorts of firefighter memorabilia! It is really a one of a kind restaurant that gives back to firefighters who serve our communities. If you have a little one who is fascinated with fire trucks this is a fun place to come eat a meal! While the prices seem a little high, the good cause behind this cafe makes it worthwhile.
Amazing service, great food, fantastic cause! Barry's Cafe was created by Barry Doyle in 1992 as a place to support his firefighter friends, and to make every customer have a better day. This is still true today! Barry's shows their support with authentic firefighter decor, patches from patrons, and a charity that provides food for firefighters and other emergency personnel. Our group tried this restaurant for the first time on a whim, and everyone (from picking eaters, children, and gluten-free diners) had a fabulous meal! Good nearby parking, and while they were busy, they still made room for our group of seven so we didn't have to wait! They even had a children's game placemat for the little one in our group! We will all definitely be back!

Great, nostalgic Cafe serving a small menu of breakfast and lunch items, both of which are served all day. Kids and adults alike will enjoy that it's decorated with firefighter memorabilia, as the place itself was created/dedicated to help feed area firefighters.
I usually go to another local place where I'm a regular that has plenty of southern offerings, but I was in the area due to an appointment Ilo had that morning so I gave this place a whirl - and I'm sure glad I did! Had the absolute BEST veggie omelet I've ever had, made by friendly cooks, served by friendly and very efficient wait staff (shout out to Evan!)
As for eats: grits, biscuits & gravy, and country style ham were the only southern style food options I noticed on the entire menu; the rest is standard American faire. Grill is out in the open behind the counter "Woolworth's style", and the original round swivel stools at the counter are still in place.
My only complaint is that it's kind of pricey for typical diner menu items - my omelete was on the higher end of average price, but my large tomato juice was $4.50! 😮 That's way more than what the entire container costs lol. Regardless, I'll be back every few months just for that omelet alone and I'll just skip the juice next time. Highly recommend for standard breakfast/lunch food. Very kid friendly and ample parking as it's located in an outside strip of stores attached to a grocery store. Take note, they close at 2pm.
It had been many years since I visited Barry's Cafe. I am never on this side of town anymore. Met a buddy for breakfast and while the food was good I was a little disappointed when I got the check and I noticed that something that said it was included in my meal had a separate line item charge for a considerable amount of money. Our server was awesome. Kept our coffee full and conversation entertaining.
I love this breakfast. Real southern food but also Gluten free and dairy free options. Could do a bit better on the coffee offerings. Also, they didn’t have pure maple syrup offered only the corn syrup fake maple in small plastic containers. Only draw backs. Otherwise, food was legit.
