Unpretentious neighborhood bistro with excellent interesting food. I’ve only been once (so far) but I can say they served the single best pork chop I’ve ever had. Dessert was also excellent.

For a cute little place off the beaten path, you wouldn’t think that it is the kind of place that was reviewed by the New York Times . My foodie friend and I headed over to Chez Pascal after attending the Taste Trekkers conference in Providence. You know the place is going to be great when you hear that the owners met while working on the opposite sides of the house at the now closed Hamersly’s Bistro. Kristin and Matt Gennuso started with a mobile hot dog cart and moved into a food truck selling sausages and cured meats. Now Wurst Kitchen can be found inside Chez Pascal! We will be back for the sausage and cured meats, but this time we opted for the dining room. The special tomato salad was one of the best salads I’ve had. Thick cut tomatoes topped with a corn and bean salad – it hit the spot and was large enough for us to split and both be satisfied. We also ordered the mussels with garlic, parsley, mirepoix & aïoli ($14) which were equally delicious. Those pieces of toast were perfect for getting all of the broth in the bottom of the dish! We both ordered the grilled skirt steak with creamy spaetzle, broccoli, sweet potatoes & bacon ($28). The meat was really tender and flavorful and the spaetzle gave the dish a nice dose of carbohydrates without making the dish feel heavy. For dessert we split the vanilla custard bread pudding with carmelo, peanut butter and white chocolate mousse with toasted oats & peanut crunch ($10). I’m generally not a bread pudding kind of gal, but this was exceptional. The “mousse” was an oxymoron, while it was indeed light as air, it was more of a pudding like consistency – AMAZING!! And as a little extra special treat, our waiter brought out a bite of warm chocolate cake topped with salted caramel which was also out of this world. Even though the tables were a little too close together, the meal was excellent and the service was outstanding. Looking forward to my next trip back to Providence so I can

You get gourmet ingredients thoughtfully and lovingly prepared for a reasonable price. The Wurst Window/Kitchen is definitely a specific craving I get from time to time, and I plan on satisfying that craving on many return visits.

Best. This restaurant is hands down the best in RI. I have been there on 3 separate occassions, and been absolutely blown away by the quality of food and service. Their charcuterie board is the best in the state. All of the staff are the utmost professional and extremely friendly. Evey dish, every cocktail, has been perfect and beyond my expectations. Well worth every penny!

Good find. I have to say, this was an excellent meal. Bar None. Our appetizers of Charcuterie and the Ragout of wild mushrooms were stellar, and the specials ( duck and pork ) were excellent as well. I certainly made it into the clean plate club tonite. I'm sure to be back, and often.

Lives up to the hype. We ended up here on a bit of a whim. We were headed for the Wurst Kitchen but ended up with dinner. Had heard a lot from friends of how good it was and for once it didn't disappoint. Can't wait to go back.

Everyone loves a good sausage and Chez Pascal has some good sausages. The name might throw you off into thinking that this is some puffed up self-important French restaurant, but it isn’t. The main restaurant is very nice, but inside they have a section called the “Wurst Kitchen.” My friends and I ate there to sort of celebrate my birthday, but mostly because the idea of decadent, meat filled, sausage casings was irresistible. My first experience with Chez Pascal’s Wurst Kitchen occurred when my girlfriend dragged me to a farmer’s market and promised me a delicious sandwich in return from the Chez Pascal operated Hewtin’s Dogs truck parked outside. The bacon-wrapped pork meatloaf sandwich did not disappoint and I did not forget it, so I was excited to try eating at the restaurant. What makes Chez Pascal different is that they make their own sausages and meat products themselves. This creates interesting flavor profiles that are unique to the restaurant that you can’t get anywhere else

There's an undisputed top dog in town when looking for quality food on-the-go. Chez Pascal , located on Hope Street in Providence, has a “Wurst Window” serving a variety of hot dogs and house made sausages. But don’t let the name fool you, they also have indoor seating with some communal tables, which is perfect for these cold winter months. You may have also spotted a red and white food truck called “ Hewtin Dog Mobile ” roaming around town. Well, that’s another way you can taste some of Chez Pascal’s delicious sausages. The best part? They’re only about $8 a pop for lunch no matter where you grab them! I recently paid a visit to the Window and opted for the “Currywurst” ( pictured above ) which was a smoked weisswurst with curried onion sauce and house mustard. Traditionally made with veal, Chez Pascal put a twist on this German inspired sausage and used pork instead. Carefully spread on top was a spicy blend of curry and onions that merged into an explosion of flav

Very good decor and ambience.
We had the warm shredded beat salad which was excellent. Salad is something people automatically consider 'healthy therefore tasteless' but this was a nice blend of flavours. The mussels were very tasty and is perfect soaked in bread. Definitely money's worth. Highlight is the dessert - French pastry known as pithivier. Lets say it's a go compare croissant liked with almond cream topped wig Creme anglaise and a scoop of home made coffee bean ice cream. A Must have for all.
The trio if custard was of impeccable quality but a little heavy. I wasn't a fan of the eggnog one though.
All in all a great place albeit a limited menu in terms of options.

1st timer. Had succulent clams to start followed by seared sea scallops on top of a baked polenta. Also had the tomato salad. it was probably one of the top 10 meals I've ever had. If I lived here I would go every week--it's that good. Service was spot on with tempo and kindness. It's a place you take your best friends to.

A 5-Star Find!. Incredible food, wonderful ambience, and excellent service -what more could you ask for? For appetizers, the presentation and preparation of assorted pates and cheeses was absolutely flawless. We sampled the Bomster scallops, roast duck, and bavette steak for our entrees; all were expertly prepared and mouth-watering to the very last bite. The desserts were similarly well-crafted and impossible to pass up. The peach upside-down cake with bleu cheese was a religious experience.

A great place for a romantic date or a group of good friends. One can feel comfortable in jeans or formal wear.

In 1993, Chez Pascal opened in Narragansett, Rhode Island in an unassuming building on Route 1A. In 1993, I was a poor college student working at Del's Lemonade and having no idea what fine dining was all about. My parents went to Chez Pascal for special

Always feels like home!. A few years ago my fiancee and I were on prowl for a great restaurant that we could go to for special occasions and everything else in between. In order to properly preface this - we have discriminating palates and are quite foodie when you get down to the nitty gritty. Through a series of reviews and message boards we found our way to Chez Pascal and have been loyalists ever since.
The restaurant itself has a very warm atmosphere with an eclectic decor and more often than not the lady of the house, Kristin, is the person who greets you at the door and brings you to your table. The menu changes seasonally and most if not all of their food is sourced from local farms.
The food - I don't think that there are enough words in the english language available for me to express how much I love the food. My personal favorite is the slow roasted half duck confit; the sides to accompany it change with the season. My fiancee is a sucker for the pork of the day and he always has an ethereal grin on his face upon finishing it. Those may be our favorites, but we've ventured outside that realm and tried many other selections - none have ever disappointed as the food is truly made with love. If you're there in the fall or winter I recommend trying the cassoulet. The bartender makes fabulous drinks and the waitstaff, especially Regina or Mark, are fun and knowledgable and they never fail to make our visits there quite memorable!
If you've got a sweet tooth I highly recommend trying the pear upside down cake. It pairs wonderfully with a cappuccino or dessert wine.

Chez pascal also takes their culinary skills to the streets via the hot dog cart in Lippit Park directly across the street or their Hewtin's dogs mobile food truck - the slogan on the side says "if it ain't in a casing, it ain't worth tasting." The chef, Matt, is a pork god when it comes to doing things with pig and his offerings are always delicious!

In short - the restaurant is amazing and definitely worth the trip! For myself and my fiancee it always feels like home and whenever we are in town it's our first stop.

Always Perfect. I've never had a bad experience here - and I've been going to Chez Pascal since their earlier incarnation years ago in Narragansett. The transformation wrought on this old La France space was stunning and I was so glad to see the last of that dated Lucretia Borgia decor. There are two recent experiences that stand out as exceptional at this restaurant -- their annual heirloom tomato dinner, featuring seven courses showcasing the bounty of Rhode Island's fabulous crop of real tomatoes, including a dessert of grilled baby yellows with bacon ice cream. And the other experience was at Christmas when I needed a custom prix-fixe dinner for twelve people. The service was so smooth and gracious and they skillfully kept my grandparents from ever seeing a menu and thus avoiding a two hour discussion on the price of asparagus.

One good tip - start your evening at their intimate bar and get to know the bartender. They craft some killer martinis, the real ones, served up in ice cold glasses about the size of a bird bath.

Decent food. Horrid service.. After doing a healthy amount of research on where to eat in Providence during my stay there, I decided on Chez Pascal. While i found the food to be, for the most part very good, I was completely put off by the service.

During our entire meal, our waiter was very gruff and short with us, at times talking down to us. Additionally, we were rushed through every course, and the check was laid down on the table before we were halfway through dessert. Now it's possible that it was a reflection of his preconceptions of our age, or perhaps that after Restaurant Week he was tired and frustrated, or any number of other preconceptions, but we will not be back to visit, regardless of the decent food and menu.

Europhile heaven with delicious food. Great food, somewhat expensive. The place has a very European menu and ambiance but inexplicably sells art AND Baseball caps and operates a sausage truck.

The highlight of the night was the local pork of the day which happened to be a flavoured and delicious pork chop and the dessert for which we chose the tasting of three French custards.

Will definitely be going back to try the different appetizers.

Very Good French Restaurant. On a recent visit, we had the charcuterie appetizer, which I think is an absolute must have if you like this sort of thing. Yes, it's pricey, but it is superb! The food at Chez Pascal is some of the finest prepared in the state, and it won't cost you an arm and a leg like some of the more pretentious places in Providence and Newport.

If there was one thing that I'd like to see improve at CP, it's the service. There was nothing terrible about it, but the food and the dining experience there demand a higher level of expertise than there is currently. Still, go for the food - you will not be disappointed.

There are a limited number of top-tier restaurants in Providence, or Rhode Island in general. There are plenty of places were you can spend lots of money, and even more spots that should be amazing- considering the flocks of diners that frequent them. Urb
