Shanghai Bun

A family classic, this place is pretty consistently good quality food for the price. We always order the soup dumplings, as they generally full of soup and fairly authentic. The value on the soup noodle dishes cannot be beat, as portion sizes on the meat and seafood in each noodle dish is enough to feed 2 people for a very reasonable price. The atmosphere is very lively and often full of locals, and the staff are very friendly.

Their service was so good for a Chinese restaurant!! I was pleasantly surprised. Their beef noodle soup was the best in my opinion. There is pickled cabbage on the bottom so make sure to mix before consume. We tried a bunch of other dishes, like eggplant (pretty good), pork belly, green onion pancake, siumai, lamb, etc but most of them were too sweet for us. Tasty but sweet haha All in all pretty good though!

Awesome food. Wish I started coming here earlier. It's 10x better than the First Wok on Clarksville road. Great bright flavors, substantial quantity, and prices are very affordable and on the lower side. I suggest the Kung Pao tofu and the Spicy Peanut noodles especially. Tip to the business: please hire more staff. When I went last night, your servers were quite literally running around the place because of the clear staffing problem.

Great, really authentic true Chinese cuisine (Shanghai style). The restaurant Shangai Bun takes up the space of the old (and not quite popular) Indian restaurant Ganges that went out of business years ago. The prices are good, and the portion sizes are more than generous. Honestly, their average main course could be shared between two people. Not to be missed is the restaurant's traditional appetizers section, Dim Sum. The service is friendly and efficient. If you are a culinary adventurous type and would like to sample the really authentic Shanghai specialties, we would suggest you look at the restaurant's menu online and do your research. Some staples, such as tendon and black mushroom gluten puffs, need some getting used to. We stopped by at the rather unusual time, briefly after 5 p.m., on a Friday. Shanghai Bun was almost full. That should give our readers a rough idea of how popular the restaurant really is.

We found this place while searching for good restaurants around Princeton and thought to give it a try. It is usually full in the evening. The chicken dumplings with peanut sauce were amazing and liked it a lot. Egg plant and tofu was good. We also liked the seafood soup. The spicy chicken was okay. The quantity was good enough and the items were moderately priced too. The server was very friendly. Overall it was a good experience and would visit again of we are in Princeton.

Everything was delicious and came out quickly. We ordered eight items and waited maybe 15 minutes before dish after dish came out. The pork soup dumplings were one of our favorites. The mapo tofu was also amazing. The other dishes: spicy chicken dumplings in peanut sauce, shrimp shumai with minced pork, Szechuan beef, and kung pao chicken were also yummy. Between the speed and quality of the food, we had no complaints. Even with all the dishes, we only spent around $25 a person which was also a pretty good deal.

Despite the disappointing food experience, it's important to note that the service at Shanghai Bun was friendly and attentive. The staff members were courteous and promptly attended to our needs. However, we feel that the overall dining experience relies heavily on the quality of the dishes served. The ambiance of the restaurant was pleasant, offering a cozy and inviting atmosphere. The traditional decor and comfortable seating created a suitable setting for a relaxed meal. The noise level was moderate, allowing for conversation without overpowering background noise. In conclusion, our recent dining experience at Shanghai Bun was average, leaving us with mixed feelings. While the service was commendable and the ambiance enjoyable, the food fell short of our expectations. We have previously had better meals from Shanghai Bun, which leads us to believe that this visit may have been an exception rather than the norm. We hope to see improvement in the future, as we know the potential for exceptional flavors exists within Shanghai Bun's kitchen.
