All Shook Up

Super friendly, great juice. We popped in today to kill time and because I was looking for a green juice. The owner (who’s name I regretfully did not get) was welcoming, chatty and very nice. She made us some nice juices and vegetarian sandwiches, which were also delicious. Great place for a little snack and local convos.

I used to work for this place when I was about 18 and appreciate the knowledge I got about health food and the food is good. However management is shady. Not really Frank the male owner he was always really kind, but more Michelle. They were extremely tight on money and can’t afford more than 2 employees. Took up almost every ounce of my time. NEVER GAVE ME MY TIPS, Michelle pocketed all my tips. And when I asked why it was some bogus excuse. I had a regular customer offer me a ride to work one day and she asked if they were giving me my tips and when I told her no she said “yeah I love the food at that place but I don’t tip anymore cause I know they’re not giving you the money, the last girl that worked there told me they didn’t give them to her either. Tips don’t go to the owner of the business.” It was one of the first jobs I ever had. I was young and didn’t know my rights and they took ADVANTAGE of that. I’m 24 now, if I was the person I am today I would’ve NEVER let that fly. So eat here if you want just know that your tips aren’t going where they’re supposed to (unless they’ve changed their ways since then. Doubt it) And if you ever thought of working here, DONTTTTTTTTT.

Great fresh squeezed juice, protein drink and smoothies!! Friendly staff, while I was on line the lady in front of me asked the cashier what was on their menu? The cashier handed the lady the menu, but the lady then told her that she forgot her glasses at home, so the cashier was nice enough to read the menu items out loud to the lady. I was impressed.

I'm not crazy about this place - as other reviewers have stated the prices of this place are...above average, to say the least. One thing that must be said is that the decoration here is top notch, absolutely fantastic 1950's era design. Really well done and the pink fridge is the icing on the cake. However, regardless of how you put it I can't seem to comprehend paying $6.44 for a one size fits all plain vanilla milkshake. I see this place advertises itself as a healthy alternative milkshake and juice bar and I absolutely respect that, and part of me could understand that the local ingredients used throughout the drinks and food and what not is worth the price, but only to a certain extent. I would only recommend coming here if you specifically want healthier milkshakes, juices, and organic options but if you're looking for old school American food, take it to the Eveready in Hyde Park.
