Blue

My daughter and I stopped in for the first time last night for Irish music night and had the best time!! They have a cool selection of drinks and beers and really delicious food! We tried the Mediterranean plate, the butternut squash ravioli in brown butter, and the cheese plate for two. The food was all so fresh and lovingly prepared and absolutely yummy!! Our waiter was super nice, and everybody was so fun and courteous and the place is really cozy, but spacious. Oh, and the music! Of course what's not to like? Live Irish music in Portland Maine! Is there anything more fun than that? Nope! I can see my daughter and I returning often! Such an amazing venue! Thank you, Blue!

Went to see a friend’s band play. Was a suggested donation of $20 - of which I had $5. They were on at 10, place was maybe half-capacity. Bartender after taking 20 minutes to get to me poured me a water and asked what I wanted - I told him water was fine (10 years sober didn’t want to spend $6 on a watered down cranberry juice) and tipped him $2. Fifteen minutes later he told me that they had a one drink-minimum and he was sorry but he’d have to ask me to leave. Been there maybe 20 times since they opened and that was the first I ever heard of that policy. Plus I paid $2 for a water and tossed money for the band - still thrown out of a bar for not drinking. I won’t be back, and I hope the music scene evolves to exclude this hole in the wall.

Lived around here a year, but somehow just made it over to Blue. Literally the best Sunday evening in memory, sitting alone at the back of the room, eating pumpkin soup and fresh bread, drinking red wine, and listening to two women making beautiful sounds. Excellent service- very mindful of respecting the music while still being attentive. REALLY tasty soup and wine. Artists- Sorcha Cribben-Merrill and Monique Barrett. Look them up.

Small intimate blues bar no cover charge! Stumbled into this cool little spot while visiting Portland some friends. It was five of us and they quickly accommodated us. What I loved most is that there was no cover charge. We ordered a few beers and some food and enjoyed the night watching some locals kill the stage. They do pass around a little basket for donations. You don’t have to give anything but it’s definitely greatly appreciated by the musicians. They have different people playing each time so it’s pretty cool! Definitely worth stopping by here if you’re in the area. Friendly ambiance. Vegan and vegetarian options available!

Came from ny to hangout with some friends and turned in to a mask wearing vaccination mess of witch we had both. So after we got in they come back and ask for vaccination status of the couple we were with after we had sat down. And got kicked out cause friends wifey left card at home and half the crowd wasn't wearing masks but apparently everyone had there vax cards.. and this is america. I think it was the ny hat i was wearing bunch of pompous punk wpeople
