Nestled within the Portland Harbor Hotel, this seafood restaurant is a great for a quiet but elegant meal. The service was excellent and we felt welcome from the moment we entered. The seafood is only the freshest, including amazingly tender calamari and freshly-made salmon ravioli in a decedant sauce. Desserts were amazing too. And I have to add the bartender makes some of the best cocktails around.
If you're looking for great calamari, you have found your place! The calamari fries are AWESOME! Lobster roll is over priced and sub par, but wow the calamari and the peach mule blew me away. Also, if the weather is good make sure you go out on the patio, its beautiful and the fire is divine!
Very good food here! My wife and I stayed at the Portland Harbor Hotel this summer, and ended up dining here. While we liked Scales slightly more, this was easily our 2nd favorite restaurant on our vacation. The food was done very well (some of the best salmon I've had), and the outside dining is in a nice little courtyard/garden in the middle of the hotel. Very intimate.
This is a COVID-era review. One need to take into account that all dining experiences are going to be "not normal". We were seated at a nice table on the patio that was comfortably spaced from others. One must note that this is located inside the Portland Harbor Hotel.
We ordered the Lobster-scargot was a play on escargot and the Caesar salad. They were both very goodl.
We decided on two entrees to share- the scallops (it came with a butternut squash risotto) and the filet. Both dishes were quite good. We look to return in the future under better times.
The ambience outside in the garden courtyard was absolutely gorgeous. The drinks were great, i got the lobster scampi which had house made noodles. It was all delicious, a perfect portion. Would go every day if I lived here!
Super romantic ambience,
Great food- the salmon was fantastic and the calamari was also great. Reservations were easy, and overall a wonderful experience
