I didn’t expect to find this place; I was pulled in by the “Cocktail”-inspired neon sign late on a Saturday night, and I found the staff was incredibly welcoming, the setting itself is old-school and comforting, and the prices are great. Who can say no to a Schlitz tallboy? I can’t. I will be back!

Excellent! Mere feet away from Tate Theater. Great staff and atmosphere. The haddock sandwich and haddock fish and chips are the best ever!

This spot is so unassuming in every way. You would never expect them to have delicious food. Visiting from NYC and we have GOOD food. We ordered the pork & potatoes, gnocchi and fish and chips and everything was so darn delicious, including the coleslaw and potato salad! Everything was cooked perfectly, balanced well with the sides and great taste! Plus, customer service was excellent. We ordered for takeout and still highly recommend it!

Delicious food, awesome waiter, vintage furniture, unique & extensive handcrafted cocktail menu and a superb dessert! Bonus: the Dude portrait and huge mirrors in clean bathrooms. We went late, so it was really loud but we got to sit outside, which was a great date night spot. I’m going to be dreaming about the fried doughnuts with ricotta and lemon zest.

I have lived in Portland for almost 20 years. This has never been my go to bar but I have been enough to know it well. It's known as where the drunks hang out around town. There's always numerous people at the bar who can barley speak and are practically falling off their stool which is why it's never been my go to bar. For this reason it was very surprising that a server refused to serve me and my friends when we hadn't even been drinking. We came in to meet a small group with the intention of getting some food and a beer. The server, a guy with dark hair wearing a shirt with pineapples, told us we were not welcome there. Again, we had not been drinking. He was so nasty to us I couldn't believe it. The place was empty, as is typically is when I walk by, and this must be the reason. I guess if you aren't one of their regular fall down drunk customers you aren't welcome in the business. How unfortunate that for absolutely no reason at all this business chose to be really nasty to me and my friends. Not only will we never go there again but I feel to protect other friends from being treated poorly I will have to strongly encourage that no one I know ever go there again. Too bad considering all of us live in the neighborhood where this business is located.

My new favorite bar in Portland. Great vintage cocktails made with care. And perfect spot to unwind and get away from tourists crowds. Lots of whiskey scotch available a poster of big lewbowsk as well a drafts and cheap cans. Gina was both hospitable as well as accommodating. Excited about making time to come back to "our" bar.

I come to CBG regularly since I live in the neighborhood. The atmosphere is very “dad who drinks shlitz and goes on hunting trips”. I come for the happy meals and the cocktails. $5 for a beer and a shot. $11 for a top notch cocktail, best price in the city. If you’re lucky, a handsome dark haired guy in a pineapple shirt will make you a specialty spiked Shirley temple. A very industry friendly bar.

Chill atmosphere, service was friendly and quick, and the food was exactly what I wanted after a long, cold workday. Glad it was a short walk from my hotel!
