Cheap, delicious bread and pastry. My favorite are the coconut bun and the ham and black sesame

This bakery reminds me of the Chinese bakeries of my childhood and everything is delicious: hot dog buns, taro buns, red bean buns, all variety of cheese variations on said buns, coconut buns AND coconut custard buns, pineapple buns, roast pork buns, beef curry buns (so spicy!) ...

We got a pineapple roll that was quite underwhelming. Doesnt matter. THE PANDAN ROLL MAKES UP FOR IT. you will see why this delightful sponge roll is so popular in Asia. You know how grocery cakes are disgustingly sweet, overrich, and highly processed? This is the opposite: light, barely sweet, and filled with a whipped cream + coconut filling. Run down to your grocery bakery and tell them how incredibly LAME they are.

Wonderful bakery. Everytime I'm in Portland I stop in and have an egg tart and a steamed bun for breakfast. It doesn't look like much from the outside but it is well worth the stop. 82nd is a treasure trove of small businesses that serve up some really good genuine ethnic treats.

Amazing Dim Sum style pastries. Always wanted to try the cakes and since I am about to get married I called to see if they do cake tastings. I think it was a kid who answered and they didn't know what tastings meant and they hung up on me. It's ok if they don't do it but it was weird to hang up on me like that. Will be back for more small pastries but shame I can't get a cake from them.
