We happenned upon this place as it was right in front of where we parked. We wereplanning on going to the thai restaurant nearby, but happy we got to try something new. Was curious and peered into the glass door and was invited in try a variety of dishes for dinner. Great Fijian/Indian food. Not Mediterranean. Good price for dinner. 15pp. Just so happens that I work with a relative of the family who runs this place.

We were a little skeptical because it was empty and seemed like we may have come when they were trying to close on New Year's Eve. The owner was very friendly and inviting, and brought over some fresh dishes to our table while we were eating buffet style. He even came out as we were driving around the corner to give us some more snacks for the road. The food was flavorful and delicious and we will be returning.

Very nice people and good food. Lots of variety! I did the buffet and personally I liked the eggplant, beans, chickpeas, and butter chicken items the best. I live in the neighborhood and will definitely be coming here again when making dinner myself is just too much work.

Owners were incredibly inviting and kind from the moment we walked in the door. The food was fresh and delicious, and they kept bringing us more things to try for free from the kitchen! So good that we ordered to go when we were done.
Definitely will be coming back, and recommend others to do the same. They deserve the business!

We got catering for a staff lunch and the owners were wonderful! Wanted to get to know us since we are in the neighborhood. Food is really affordable and tastes great.
Owners said they opened their business in March, and they are very unique with their Fijian Indian cuisine.

First off, Google has incorrectly listed Spice Kitchen as a Mediterranean restaurant, when it's actually Fijian-Indian food. That said, the food is excellent, and they really care about their customers. I ate there for the first time a few days ago, or rather, I was just poking my head in to check on prices, because as a student living on loans, I have to watch my dollars. I wasn't necessarily going to eat. But the gentleman who was waiting on customers immediately wanted to get me something I could afford, saying "oh, please have something to eat. We''ll give you a nice lunch buffet for only $5.99. Of course, I couldn't pass up a nice offer like that, so I stayed. As I was going through the buffet trying to be polite - not taking more than $5.99 worth of food - he kept pointing to different dishes, saying "oh, you should have some of this too," and then just piling it on my plate. I arrived at my table with an amazing amount of amazing looking food. But that was not the end of it. As I ate, this man kept bringing extra dishes to my table. The food was very, very good, but the most interesting dish he brought was an egg curry, a dish I had never heard of before... which consisted of hard boiled eggs in a delicious curry sauce. Viewing the kitchen, there was a sense that this was just like a kitchen in someone's home back in India would be, with someone's mother and grandmothers busily making meals for their family. The decor for this place is not fancy, but is more than made up for by the excellent food and the good people who own and run the place. To be clear, the food I ate was worth far more than $5.99. I almost felt a bit guilty accepting it, but in the end I couldn't say no, because the proprietor was just so nice. And how do you say no to someone like that? Since my experience there, I'm hoping to introduce the place to a lot of my fellow students at the southeast campus of Portland Community College, which is in short walking distance. If you are a PCC student, know that you can do a lot better at the Spice Kitchen than at the school cafeteria. That comparison may not be saying a lot, but the food here is really, really good. Let this great place become your new hang out for when you're not in class.

I ABSOLUTELY Love this place...
Wonderful people running it. GREAT FOOD.. I will come whenever I'm in Portland. It beats most buffet prices. $9.99 all you can eat.

Enjoyed the food, was very tasty and service was good. For a little "hole in the wall" place I would definitely go back again. It was also clean.
