The place looks special like old rustic style. The food is really good especially the fish and chips. Service is friendly and fast! We will come back.

Great fish & Chips. Service is awesome as well. I also enjoyed the "old bar" feel to it. This is in no ways an insult, it's just an older place. But you can tell they keep it clean.

Love this place. First time visiting. Stephany out server was great! Food was really good loved the fish and chips! My girlfriend and daughter had the popcorn shrimp was sweet and tasty. Good clam chowder and GREAT drinks. Old world look inside. If I lived around here I would be in all the time. No food pics had to eat it!

The best fish and chips in town. And Chris was a great hostess. I love that we found Gaffer's and we will be back. I can't wait to recommend Gaffer's Fish & Chips.

Used to eat here as a young child, back in the late 70s.. back then the portions were huge and moderately priced... Fast forward to now and well just like anything else in this world less portion higher price just a sign of the times, y'all. It's all right... Working class atmosphere up front, video poker and all that comes with out in the back. Laid back

My partner and I have been coming here about 3 times a month on average for the last 7 or 8 years and out of all that time I think we have had one, maybe two, meals that were a little under their usual standards. Food and service is always excellent. They have probably the best fish and chips in the Portland Metro area for the money. Yes, the decor is a bit run down, but that's what we love about the place. It gives the place character. Plus the patrons at the bar can be entertaining too. :)

We had the fish and chips. My wife loved them. I thought they were a little under seasoned, fine otherwise. It was Memorial Day, around 1:30pm so might not have been the A crew. The place does have that "been around a while" feel to it. My chair was rather wobbly but comfortable otherwise.

I'm not a fish and chips connoisseur, but I've had them at a fair number of places in Portland and elsewhere. Gaffers are the best, especially for the price. The surroundings haven't been touched since the 70s, so it's a little worse for wear, but I wouldn't change a thing. The funky nostalgia, especially for an old geezer like me is really comforting. The waitresses are really nice and the food arrives quickly. It's one of our favorite no-guilt night out spots.

Me and my husband have been to this restaurant quite often. The fish and chips are the best in town. Seriously.... the best. The bartender is super nice and friendly and she makes a mean Washington apple. I've never had a bad experience,

Stopped in for my very first visit a couple of days ago. I was in the mood for some good old-fashioned American-style food, and that's exactly what I got. When I first walked in, I noticed the place is reminiscent of the Regal Beagle from 3's Company. Kind of a mid-1970s take on a medieval English pub. That and the stench of 40 years-worth of nicotine on the walls and ceilings was just what the doctor ordered. No, seriously. I loved it, and wouldn't change a thing. The interior is very dimly lit, and that's just what a person wants when they're eating alone. Had the Fish & Chips with coleslaw. The fish and chips were wonderful, except I'm more of a seasoning person, and I thought the batter needed a little something, like maybe some Lowery's Seasoning Salt? Even doused in malt vinegar, it was very very bland. The coleslaw was the best I've ever had - no complaints there. And the lady who served me was totally a "mom" type. Loved her! I will be coming back often, and bringing friends.
