Great americana dîner in oldtown on NW Broadway. Super friendly server and great service that comes with convo if you welcome it. Food is basic no nonsense american fare that is still priced like it's 1999.... ...some of the clientele may have been regulars since then too!

Just a few blocks from the Amtrak station and opens at 7am for breakfast. A delightful owner as her personality and positive attitude shined. 50 years at the same location speaks volumes. Would definitely return.

Old school, cash only, family run diner. It is the real deal. Sit at the counter with the regulars. Food is traditional diner food, simple, straightforward, nothing fancy, but exactly what you want and expect. Service was super fast. Prices are super low. Clean and well kept. I will definitely go back for a quick lunch.

Great local diner with friendly service and reasonable prices. Simple quality fare. A good place to make a routine breakfast or lunch break and enjoy a cup of good coffee.

If you want a nice quiet spot for a solid diner experience with breakfast as classic as the west coast with friendly service to boot, this is the spot. It's run by a super friendly older couple who have been there for seemingly as long as this place has been around. It's like a little spot trapped in time. The coffee is good, the eggs are always perfect, and there's a good chance you might strike up a conversation with some locals. Affordable, solid, NICE.

This is exactly the diner experience I want. Good food, hot and fast. Simple but expertly done. Cash only. 8 to 10 wear counter eating, and three tables or so. Lovely older couple run it. He cooks and she busses and pours coffee and brings you the tab on old fashioned diner checks. $2.00 bottomless cup of coffee ☕! Two great pancakes 🥞 and 4 pcs of bacon for $10.95. You can't beat the prices and the ambience. Classic 7UP, RC Cola, and Root Beer soda fountain. I would be here often if I lived here.

I wanted to check this place out for like a decade and finally got around to doing that. When I saw pictures of the menu posted by other people on Google reviews I assumed that I was looking at older posts because there was no way that in today's economy the breakfast would be that cheap but oh my god it was. And it was spectacular. The food was actually in people sized portions instead of being super sized like it would be at Denny's or IHOP, so this isn't a place where an entire family of four can split a single entree, but that's actually a good thing! It was brisk morning, but it was nice and toasty inside the restaurant, but not overly warm. The hash browns were the perfect balance of crispy and soft, which is something I always find delightful. I was a tiny bit frustrated when my coffee first came out because I had asked for cream and then I did not see the cream so I just sat there not drinking my coffee for a minute until I grabbed the cup and realized that the cream was behind the cup just outside of my line of sight and I am the idiot in this equation. There were a few other people in there when I got there, and right after I ordered my omelette breakfast, somebody else got the pancakes delivered to their table and they looked delectable so next time I go I will be getting the pancakes. I cannot recommend this place strongly enough.

CASH ONLY. Old-school, no frills, comfort food classic diner. Salisbury steak was probably the best I’ve ever had—just the pure beef and tangy breakfast of my past. Only down was slightly stale toast.

Sometimes you just want a good, no-frills diner experience. John’s Cafe serves great food at VERY reasonable prices, and the service is excellent. You can tell it’s a family-owned place.

Being from Phoenix, we don’t have these types of restaurants. At least not anymore. This was by far one of the greatest breakfasts I’ve ever eaten. If you want a nice, basic, bacon and eggs with pancakes? It’s how food USED to taste. The prices are incredibly good and the food is to die for. The nice mom and pop type of couple that own the place are wholesome and so nice! 11/10 would recommend
