I've spent half my life in search of perfect won ton soup. I can produce it in my own kitchen, so why is it nearly impossible to find in a restaurant? Well no more. Because Mama Chow's makes near perfect won ton soup--at a bargain food cart price. Plus succulent, spicy wings and damn addictive garlic noodles.
The garlic noodles are amazing, fresh made with chayote squash and onion relish. It sounds simple, but it is so good you will gobble it all up faster than you think. Yes, you can get them with the other dishes probably on his menu, but you want a whole order of these noodles.
The wait can be kinda long, but the food is so good that it's worth it. The garlic noodles are a must, and you can't go wrong with any of the protein choices. Although the chicken wings are top tier! Put in your order, find a nice table to chill at, and then enjoy :)
I’ve had dreams (yes plural) about the garlic noodles and chicken lollipops. I truly cannot understand how everything from this spot tastes so insanely good and flavorful! The service is also incredible – just ask for a recommendation and you’ll see how they clearly love food and want you to love what you eat too. I regularly pick something up from here and take it home only to stand in my kitchen eating it at the counter because the smell drove me so crazy on my way back home that I can’t bare to wait another second to sit down at the table like a normal human. Try this place.
Recently moved to the Farmhouse Food Cart Pod, behind/next to Rev Nat's, they haven't missed a beat!! Garlic Noodles with BBQ pork was amazing. The fried tofu was great, and if anyone tells you they hate tofu, they should try MamaChow's, it's a game changer. We also had wings and the pork and shrimp dumplings. You cannot go wrong with any of it!!
Authentic Chinese from a food cart. In other places, noodles are just a vehicle to transport sauce to your mouth - not so here. The noodles are the main feature, chewy and flavorful, not over cooked. That said, the vegetables were delightful too. The tofu was superior: fried wrong, tofu can be leathery on the outside but this was tender and flavorful without being soggy.
I hazard to say these are the best noodles in town! Garlic noodles with pork are a family favorite, the toddler eats a whole serving. 👍
Mama Chow’s is an exemplar of what makes the Portland food scene so great. We went with the classics — lollipop chicken and garlic noodles (10/10). Also got a side of BBQ pork (7/10). Will be back to try the other items on the menu. Kinda sad that Rev Nat’s, but hopefully a brewery moves into the space and makes a nice rice lager to go with Mama Chow’s dishes?
Tender juicy chicken (lollipop chicken) and perfectly seasoned garlic noodles! Excellent food - we will be back often!! The owner Jeff and business partner Margret are the kindest people you'll meet too. So happy to welcome them to the neighborhood and loved how sweet they were to us and everyone during the heat wave!
Came here for Chinese new year. Got to see the show and got the wonton chicken noodles soup and chicken wings. Overall decent place for lunch, however the queue to put in the order was really long, Took about 45 minutes!
I love Mama Chows, used to go here all the time in downtown and the garlic noodles are the best. That said, please please please bring back the Kalua Pork, the BBQ pork just is not the same.
Woah. The food is soo good. We got garlic noodles with BBQ Pork and with Lollipop Wings. The wings were super tender and the skin was crazy crispy. The pork was so succulent. And when they say garlic noodles they mean GARLIC noodles. Nom nom nom 🤤🤤🤤.
Super duper friendly customer service. We will be coming back all the time!
