Large portions of meat in the tacos. The carnitas and the beef tongue are both rich and have nice crispy ends. It adds texture and brings the taste of the grill. Very nice. The salsas could have been more flavorful but we're mainly mild in flavor and moderate in heat.

A fantastic spot for a relatively cheap burrito that is sure to fill you up. The location was clean and the staff were all kind. The burrito itself was huge, and had a great taste to it. I recommend this spot, but I likely wouldn’t go again.

Me and a coworker came here for lunch on 9/27/23. The food was really good but they don’t have queso or white cheese is what we call it in the Carolinas. Other than that, it was delicious. They cook your food when you order so you get hot/fresh food.

Great food but could use a slightly more cozy atmosphere. It’s very plain and uninspired but casual and workable. My burrito was accidentally taken by someone else, but they made a new one right away. Fantastic taste, night be better as a take out option.

A great little place. Very good food. Good size plate for the money. Big tamales lots of stuffing. Enchilada plate is delicious an very generous. Parking in the neighborhood is no problem great menu beer, drinks. Nice collection of sauces to. Well I'm going back...

The food here was great! Portions were generous, the food was really tasty and fresh, and the drinks were really good. We tried the red enchiladas (a little spicy!) and the carne asada and both plates were quite good. The only thing we didn't enjoy was the service; the servers didn't take names/numbers so there's no way you know when your food is done. It's just on a counter at some point when the kitchen completes it. While the food comes out pretty fast, it is kind of confusing especially when they are busy with dinner rush. Overall would return for takeout or online ordering, probably wouldn't want to dine in again.

La Bonita, a shining gem in the heart of Portland, is a testament to authentic, soulful Mexican cuisine. Its unpretentious charm and dedication to maintaining working class roots make it a beacon of tradition in an era increasingly defined by the transient nature of the gig economy. This is a place that stubbornly upholds the values of hands-on craftsmanship and culinary artistry, a restaurant where every dish is served with a side of heartfelt devotion. Mexican food in Portland has long been a challenging venture, with only a handful of spots that truly capture the essence of this vibrant cuisine. Among these, La Bonita stands as the undisputed leader, transcending the ordinary with its rich and diverse menu. A particular mention has to be made for their grilled chicken, an emblem of the mastery and dedication embedded in their culinary process. The perfectly charred exterior, which gives way to tender and succulent meat, encapsulates a flavor profile that is nothing short of a joyous dance on the palate. With La Bonita, Portland can confidently claim a stake in the landscape of noteworthy Mexican eateries.

The problem with most Mexicans food restaurants is that they try to aim for semi authentic Mexican plates but often fall short due to the bar being set so low to begin with. This place is not like those places and rather than aiming high and falling short they strike the perfect balance between authentic Mexican plates/recipes and the reality of catering to a mostly anglo clientele. I definitely recommend this place if you're looking for a mild experience in the Mexican cuisine. If you're looking for the bold flavors of mexican recipes and authenticity in each plate, this place might not be for you. With that said the place was clean and the service friendly. Prices are reasonable and atmosphere is pleasant.

They forgot my horchata so with delivery and everything I basically paid $25 for nachos. Not super happy about it but had to give 4 stars because the nachos were quite good and the delivery person from the restaurant was very friendly. Massive portions!

Good vegan options. I wouldn't recommend the vegan cheese chimichanga though. I used to love it, but they raised the price $2 and it's an extra $1.50 if you want the vegan cheese. $13 for beans, rice, and avocado is too steep
